Deluex Tea Set Smile Mar 06, 2013
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Tiffin is famous for her extraordinary high tea. Back to last summer , the day I asked my ex-colleagues out for the high tea gathering, the hotel had raised charges, well, the button was still on despite the new charges, I was very ready for enjoying a sweet meal!

The luxourious tea set has satisfied and filled our stomach full.

Very creamy, smooth texture with rich chocolate mousse, wrapped with a very nice outlook.

Fine china. I ordered camomile tea and the rest followed. Camomile tea commonly used to help with sleep and is often served with honey or lemon. If you ask for it the waitor will answer to your request. If you feel too filling then you should go for Peppermint tea. It is effective in relieving indigestion, in a word to make your stomach feel better when all the sweet creamy food fill it up.

This looks great yet it's not on the menu. If you pay full price for the tea set then you will have the "all you can eat" offer. You gotta get up and order what you want. Sorbet, ice-cream, waffle, candies, pancakes, all the varieties defintely spice you up, if you still have room for it tongue For me, desire never ends, I was awfully full by the time I finished the tea set, and when i thought i coulnd't get more, my instinct didn't push the stop button.

    Supplementary Information:
Services aren't exceptionally great, but the enviroment is great ,served with spacious, comfy sofa.
Apparently to a sweet tooth like me, the food and the environment are the attractive motive for me to come again

I seem to have been looking for the perfect afternoon tea for as long as I remember. Needless to say I have not found the answer in Hong Kong. So it was with great expectations when I found out that Tiffin had started to offer afternoon tea sets. With my 2 Britophile friends, we set off full of anticipation on that March sunny day in the hope of finding the perfect afternoon tea in Hong Kong.

We ordered a set for 2 people which came with unlimited visits to the ice cream counter. The set arrived in beautiful trays which were skewed so that we could see all the layers from the top.
    The full set
    The full set

My sandwich specialist friend quickly spotted that the sandwiches were a bit creative. They were not finger shaped nor triangular, in fact, they were not sandwiches at all. I admit that cucumber sandwiches, although traditional for afternoon tea would not be popular here but these were not sandwiches. Having said that, the crabmeat bread roll was nice

I normally rate afternoon tea according to how good the scones are and whether they serve clotted cream with them. Tick for the clotted cream but the scones were dry, very sad.
There was another savoury layer of quiches and foie gras terrine served with toasts. Well, the toasts were not hot since they have to be put in the tray and not toasted just before serving and the terrine was too sweet with not enough rich liver taste. The quiches were good though

I didn't find the other sweet items to be too appertising and I didn't try too many of them. The macaron was too sweet and crispy with no chewy texture in the middle

So the bonus and pleasant surprise had to be the ice cream counter. It wasn't just an ice cream counter, it served iced cakes and desserts as well as waffles made to order. In the iced cake section, there was a Baked Alaska, Ice cream Cassata and many other selections. I had the Baked Alsaka for nostalgia and a scoop of green tea and a scoop of hazelnut ice cream. The ice cream is home made by the hotel

The ice cream toppings were a wonderful selection. I chose caramel and honeycomb

The traditional set may not have been the answer to the perfect afternoon tea in Hong Kong but the ice cream counter was the best selection of iced desserts and toppings I have encountered. And the service was impeccable as you would expect from a 5 star hotel

My friend still thinks the Four Seasons is her favourite for afternoon tea and my preferences will remain as Clipper Lounge and Bettys Kitschen. The best is yet to come and we will continue on our quest.

Saw the pic of Tiffin tea set in openrice, they look so attractive so I booked a table for 2 on a Sunday.mad

We were there at 3:30pm and were leaded to the sofa near the entrance. It was nice as we were under the shade while it was too bright near the windows.

It wasn’t the first time I visit Tiffin, but every time is good as you know you will always be served nicely and with decent food.

We ordered the tea set for 2 people, the top plate filled with my favorite scones and I love their clotted cream. I personally find they do the best clotted cream in town.

The 2nd plate was filled with mini quiche and 鵝肝醬. It was so rich that I couldn’t stop myself from eating that.

The 3rd plate was with salty favor sandwiches and tarts.

The 4th was mango mousse cake and an opera cake. By the time we were on this plate, I was kind of full…….

The last plate was with Macarons, strawberry tarts etc.

And for more, there was this dessert counter with unlimited ice-cream, freshly made waffles, more assorted cakes…..

God, I was so full that I could only take one scoop of ice-cream.

Always so pleasant at Tiffin, $458 tea set for 2 ppl and with a credit card discount of 15% off which is not cheap but value for the quality of food.

Before the exam,my friend and I planned to have a buffet after exam.
Now after the exam,I booked Tiffin to have lunch buffet with her.We were arranged to sit near the window. The view was spectacular. But that day was a shiny day so it was rather hot to sit there.
The buffet started at 3:30pm.I took lots of pictures before choosing what to eat.

    My favorite macaron
    My favorite macaron

    Strawberry and yogurt tea
    Strawberry and yogurt tea

Every one had a free drink.I chose Strawberry and yogurt tea coz I like yogurt and I have never had yogurt tea before. The taste of the tea was very fresh and natural, without any artificial flavour.

The above dish had steamed egg topped with a piece of black truffle(maybe). The truffle smell good and matched with the taste of egg.The egg had smooth texture!
The deep fried spring roll was very crispy and the stuffing tasted great, and it was not oily too.
The fried nooldles were cold, not so good.
The scone was spongy.I like scone very much and wanted to have one more. But I was afraid that I will be too full.

The second round I tried different types of bread.
There were baguette and croissant. But the bread were not hot enough and not crunchy at all.The stuffing had cooked tuna or salmon plus some vegetables. The bread were overall satisfying but not outstanding.
The sausage were well cooked and juicy! So it was one of my favourite food that day

The third round I tried smoked slamon.Wow the smoked salmon had a good smell. There was concentrated flavour but it was a bit salty to me.However I still ate a few pieces.
The vegetable salad was quite good. The vegetables were fresh.
There were vanilla macaron and chocolate macaron.Vanilla one was better, but both tasted like biscuit more than macaron.

There were lots of desserts that day but I could only eat a few coz my stomach was not quite well. The waffle did not disappoint me!!Very crispy and thick! The chocolate ice-cream was rich.
The blueberry cheese cake was very cheesy but too heavy!I only could finish half.
The bread pudding was too sweet.

The final round I tried the passion fruit sorbet. My favourite that day!!Sour and sweet taste in icy sorbet.I also like the raspberry, red bean, green tea roll cake!!There was rich green tea flavour plus sweet red bean. There was cream but not too creamy.
The pear pie was not my cup of tea as there was strong almond flavour that I do not like.
I ate some fruit at the end to soothe my stomach.
Overall I think the view was great, food was satisfying. But The variety of food was not enough,it may be because it was tea buffet.I think I like lunch/dinner buffet more.

Tiffin Buffet Grand Hyatt Hong Kong was next on our list of high-end buffets. This high-end hotel is located near the HKCEC (Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre), making it is popular with businessmen. This restaurant is a long walk from the MTR station. We are suckers for lavish spreads of high-end food in addition to our mainstays of regular fine dining! We have found that Hong Kong is filled with buffets that simply out to do Las Vegas. In 2010, we dined at nearby Conrad Hotel’s Sunday brunch, which proved to be Awesome.

This dinner buffet here costs approximately US$70. You can save by coming just for the dessert buffet at HK$250. Sunday Brunch adds cooked lobster and unlimited Rose Champagne.

Summary – Excellent buffet that is available every day.
Insider Tip – Make Reservations in Advance

Cuisine – Western and European food
Location – Wan Chai Hong Kong, China

Decor, Vibe – Tiffin Buffet Grand Hyatt Hong Kong is situated on the open atrium, mezzanine level and a spacious locale with a pianist playing live music. This area also serves as their bar lounge, resulting in many sofa like chairs, not particularly amenable for dining, but good for relaxing when you achieve a food coma.

Service – Grand Hyatt Tiffin Buffet had reasonable service, but not enough servers to cover the vast territory. We had to hail our server several times.

Value – This is a fairly expensive buffet, but they did feature a wide variety of high-quality food especially desserts and cooked food. Deductions for lack of some high end items.

Alternatives – Nearby buffets include the awesome Conrad Sunday brunch at Nicolini’s and the JW Marriott buffet. Intercontinental’s Harbourside across the bay is another top contender.

Verdict – Tiffin Buffet Grand Hyatt Hong Kong proved to be a solid choice with a wide variety of food especially desserts. Beverages were disappointingly pricey. While they lacked some of the extraordinary items (shellfish options, caviar, high quality pasta) present elsewhere, the breadth of cuisine’s and the fact that it is available daily, not just on Sunday mornings, makes it attractive to a wide audience. You can also come for dessert only. For a Sunday Brunch, we would hit Conrad or JW Marriott Lounge instead.
    Children cost HK$269.

Dessert Buffet Cries Oct 09, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
I haven't gone to Tiffin have dinner dessert buffet for a few years. My friend was suggested to have dessert buffet, we think of Tiffin. When we arrived we found the restaurant also have dinner buffet at the same time. The hostess was introduced only few tables of food that we can select.
Table one: Fresh fruits (orange, kiwi, prunes, mango and pineapple)
I never seem a half cut of orange and kiwi was served on hotel buffet table before (of course it is skinless). I can't eat too much on mango and pineapple because my body got wet heat (濕熱). Where is my strawberries? Can I got melons on main course section as I saw Parma ham was served with melon? I feel confused this time, but I don't have it.
Table two: Chinese dessert soup (楊枝甘露, 綠豆沙及豆腐花), Bread and butter pudding
Those dessert is nothing special. I would rather like to try those dessert in somewhere else.
    Table three: Ice-cream and Sobert
Ice-cream was limited choice (vanilla, chocolate and coffee), only one raspberry sobert was try and the scoop was not clean. Limited topping was served on this table (only flake almond, no other kinds of nuts and have different sauces). I was suprised and found that this table have some liqueurs (Kahlua, Peppermint, Contreau....). I can put some liqueurs on top of my ice-cream. But the cleaniness of this table should be paid more attention.
    Table four: Cakes and Pastries
Some type of mousse was served in tiny liqueur glasses and limited cakes slices was served. I feel disappointed because some famous dessert like tiramisu and American cheesecake was disappeared.
    Table five: Chocolate section
Few chocolates and chocolate made cakes was served in this table, The brownies was fine, but others I think nothing special.
Except the above tables, Cheese Platter, Souffle and Waffles was served on the main buffet table.
I tried two times and finally got my first souffle. It was very hot and taste good. The waffles was a bit overcooked, it was very brown and too dry, tasteless. The Cheese Platter have five types of French cheese, but I forgot those name.... They have sem-soft and some hard cheese as well. We can have those cheese with Melba toast, lavish, dried apricot and red grapes. The cheese was good and tasty.
The price was not include tea or coffee, extra $65 or $70 will charge if you like. Of course we skip this item.
The overall food selection is limited. The taste was just fair and did not meet my expectation in this five stars hotel. I even think the Pastry Chefs was change. Sorry, I will not go to Tiffin to have dinner dessert buffet next time.

it has been at least 7 or 8 yrs since i came to eat at Tiffin and this time is my first time for their lunch buffet.

basically, the choice of food wasnt that great. the nicest thing i ate was the cocktail prawns and i think i ate 10 of them. everything else was fine, but nothing was bad. i'm not such a big fan of eating big lunches, so it wasnt that tempting for me.

My 2nd time hving dessert buffet there. I could only say it's worse than previous in a large extent.

藍莓芝士餅: the best dessert: the texture is smooth and cheese taste is strong enough

疏乎厘: The 2nd best dessert:soft and warm, good; re-fill quite oftenly

truffles: so-so, not good not bad, of coz far worse than Godiva

Ice-cream & sherbert: so-so, taste no special at all, only some common choice of taste

朱古力mousse cake: typical chocolate mousse taste

水果: nothing to say, common fruit choice

Overall speaking, environment excellent with live music, I feel the taste is too sweety. Every type I try half to 1 piece only (share with my boyfriend). No intention to retake again, except bluebuerry cheesecake

Haven't been to Tiffin for over 2 years and went to have a Buffet Dinner on the 30SEP to celebrate the National Day becos it's full on the 01OCT

It was a quiet evening we arrived at 8pm and were seated by the widow which I think the glasses should be cleaned more thoroughly. Our table was very near to the working station and the servers frequently bumped onto the outer couch and forced me to move to the inner one. other than that the quality service and a silver ware dining from a 5 star hotel is quite consistence which is blessed.

Anyway back to the food, I just like their fine selections from appetizer table you will find assorted seafood, smoked salmon, goose liver pate/truffles.....salads
at the craving station, you will see the roast prime rib, pan fired foie gras , all kinds of hot savouries last but not least, the wide selection of desserts cake, pastires, sweet soup, ice-cream, crepe/waffles

quality and quantity of the food are good, they kept on replacing with the new ones from the kitchen.

The piano quartet playing easy listening pieces throughout and the sound was not intruding but comfortable...

Such a nice evening there at Tiffin

Delicious Tea Buffet Smile Sep 26, 2009

Have tea buffet here several times already. I love Tiffin's leisure environment and high quality food, especially Scone with Strawberry Jam and Clotted Cream, it is the best I've ever had. I can consume 3 in one time.

Regarding the Tea Buffet, it will be perfect if you love sanwiches and desserts. Their sandwiches and dessert tastes really good. Remember to try the Smoked Salmon Sanwiches, Scones, Waffle, Cheese Cake, Blueberrt Tart, Green Tea Red Bean Cake, Ice-cream, etc. But don't have much expectation to the savoury food, they are just average. It's definately worthwhile to spend an afternoon in Tiiffin during holiday.

two days before my birthday my parents treated me to this brunch buffet....still as nice as usual!!! it was worth it even though there werent MANY dishes to choose from but we could FEEL the fineness of the ingredients.....i especially love its egg benedict while my parents treated themselves to foie gras. its dessert is nice as well. its waffle is excellent!!!! too bad that i was too full and could not let myself have the second piece.

anyways, dont be scared by the seemingly high price to this buffet (~$780@, not sure if its $580@ if you give up champagne.). if you want something nice and worth the price, visit tiffin's.

Dessert Buffet Just OK Mar 28, 2008

The overall environment was very great and comfortable. We were arranged a corner table with very dim night and we could not see each others and the food clearly.

The most outstanding desserts I would say is the foie gras with steamed egg. Egg was very smooth and match with the foie gras.

Ice-cream was not bad: with lavender, hazelnut and, cinnamon flavor. And the waffle was good too, hot and tasty.

This time I've tried all the chocolate and the one with hazelnut was the best. Others were too sweet for me.

Tiramisu was the best out of all the cakes. Second best was the carrot one with pistachio chips inside. Walnut cake was also quite ok.

We were too full and sweet to enjoy the chocolate fountain. And in the end, we just concentrated on eating salty food, like salmon bread, and lobster soup.

The sofa made us feel sleepy and we had a funny and great night. But I would say this buffet is not suitable for those who like eating salty food.
