One of the best Italian outlets in town. The complimentary starter bread is simply the best starter we have ever got in an Italian restaurant. Bread is warm, crispy on the outside, yet soft in the inside. Goes well with the vinegar and olive oil. We ordered a Salami pizza and red pasta. Both dishes didn’t disappoint us! In particular, it’s worth to note that the pizza came on a thin crusted base with fresh ingredient. Service is excellent, prompt and friendly. If you are craving for some Italian food in Shatin, this is definitely the place to go!

Tried on a lark.

The ambiance was strange: The lower half of the restaurant seating is like a diner from 1950's America. That faded cobalt blue seat still stands out in my mind. The upper half is more post-modern. So there is some interior time-warp that kept fascinating me.

Was pleasantly surprised by the service and the quality of the food.
All the staff were very attentive and service was prompt.

The food tasted very good. The water was also surprisingly nice (citron hint).
Total pizza delivered with salad. Price seemed a bit steep at first (for a lunch special) ; but the taste was worth it. The pizza was crisp and the cheeze not overpowering. However, I was most impressed with the zest of the tomato sauce used as the base for the pizza. Quite well done (by local standards). Each bite was refreshing as a result (which matters when only one is eating a big pizza for lunch). The salad was impressive for different reasons: The bacon topping seemed like that high quality shaved preserved pork leg from Italy. And it went well with the creaminess of the Cesar sauce. The croutons were unremarkable.

My only gripe was that dessert and drink were bundled for an extra $20. I would have preferred the drink included as part of the lunch special and the dessert for an extra $10. The pizza was big enough to fill me up; so the dessert would have been wasted; even if the drink would have been welcome.

I do plan to return though.

During lunch hour, most restaurants in New Town Plaza are very crowded, no matter good or not. Bene is special, maybe becaues it's entrance looks like a bakery/cake shop, not many people aware of the space in there, quite large with plenty of seats.

Casual Italian Cuisine serving set lunch and a la carte menu; set lunch includes Caesar salad/Green salad/soup, main course of pasta and additional $20 of daily dessert and drink.

Quality is not bad, portion can be improved because the main course is rather small compare with the appetizer and dessert. Look at the size of Tiramisu, it's actually bigget than the pasta.

Overall quality at this price is quite satisfied, simple interior design, spacious seatings, but service is rather disappointed.

Waiters are not proactive, when they serve bread, the olive oil and vinegar are pre-mixed with much more vinegar than olive oil, in a 'soy sauce' dish. 2 small dishes shared by whole table of 7 people. Better to offer bottles of olive oil and vinegar for customers to mix themselves. Same for pepper, better to have salt and pepper ready on each table.

This is a good restaurant. I order 3 set lunches for my family on a Sunday noon. The sets include minestrones soup for each of us, then one beef lasagna, one lam shank pasta and one pizza as main course. Deserts include the famous chocolate cake and a drink.

For the food: Ingredients are of high quality. Cooking is world class and you can see it in the open kitchen. The presentation is lovely. The portion is just right even for a big eater like myself. (I do not understand other comments about small portions in this restaurant). In short: this is one very good restaurant and a rarity in Shatin area. IMHO this is much better than any other chain Italian restaurants in Hong Kong that Hong Kong people are used to eat.
I will strongly recommend any soup, the pizza and the chocolate cake.

For the environment and the services: I find the environment comfortable. Maybe a little noisy when the restaurant is crowded, but not today and over the 5-6 occasions that we have been here, and certainly much less noisy than other Chinese restaurants Yum Cha. Services are nice and the waiters/waitresses are very polite and they deserve more tips on top of the 10% service charges.

No need for waiting, and that is a surprise to me.

Because of the time limit,
i was only able to stay in shatin for tea time today, not traveling to tsim sha tsui or admiralty targets.Bene Italian was under a big Italian restaurant group,
therefore i was quite confident there $48tiramisu would have a certain quality.slice cake set was $38,
for caramel cake, chocolate cake, blueberry cheesecake or apple cake,while tiramisu set for tea time was $58,
which i thought that an additional $10 for a drink wasn't that worth.service was super good,
so good that surprised me really a lot.but the size of tiramisu,
too surprised me.
It was much smaller than what i've expected,
as i've tasted those tiramisu in Amaroni's Little Italy, foccacino, An-Tico Enoteca Pizzeria...etc,
they asked for similar price but providing much larger size.I love the amount of cocoa powder and sugar powder,
but cheese was lack of cheese flavor,just being sugary sweet,
but still being soft and smooth.Lady fingers were soaked with just coffee liquor,
tasted good but was not moist enough,
and the lady fingers were originally made too dry.It was a light one of tiramisu,
but i was sorry not to move my ranking as it definitely wasn't foccacino's adversary.

We walked around a bit and decided to try this place. I love the cute decor, the color scheme, and the open kitchen. As for the food? We just hoped for the best

Since I had to take care of my baby, I didn't photograph the foccacia, tomato soup, and the caesar salad from the set lunch. But I remember liking them all.SC ordered squid ink seafood pasta in white wine sauce. It's simple yet super flavorful! Perfectly cooked seafood and pasta. Light and simple but still tasty broth. It was perfect for the hot and sticky weather. I was very pleasantly surprised.I ordered creamy mushroom, bacon and egg yolk pasta. A tad heavy for the weather, but I only had myself to blame for not being able to resist ordering something creamy. I love it. Again, perfectly cooked pasta with delicious sauce.

We decided to add a bit more dollars to get a dessert with coffee to share.The caramel cake's lovely. Soft, moist, with just enough bitterness and tang from the raspberry and blueberry. The coffee's Lavazza and I like it (since it's served with cream on the side, I think I like cream more than coffee? hehehe).
A very lovely lunch, we'd definitely visit again when we're in Sha Tin.

A friendly greeting by many of the staff even though it was my first visit, and I was seated immediately for dinner at about 7:40.

I chose one of their featured set meals -- which consisted of the equivalent of carbonara sauce over a pasta similar to penne, but I don't recall the name (sorry); I chose the Caesar salad to go with it, plus coffee or tea and a dessert of the chef's choice -- in this case, panna cotta.

The salad was OK, nothing special. I generally prefer a little more salad dressing. The bread is good, but I wonder if they would serve butter rather than oil and vinegar.

The entree was quite good, though I think they could have made the portion a shade larger.

The panna cotta for dessert was the hit of the evening. Delicious flavour, and presented well with four dots of strawberry syrup on the plate plus two blueberries and a raspberry alongside.

I chose iced tea, which came with the set, but a refill is not free. (Jeez, guys, come on! Will you go broke if you offer free tea refills?)

Service was excellent -- eager to please, but not too hovering.

If Bene Italian changed its atmosphere to more of a candle-lit restaurant rather than a diner, it would rock!

Great job! Reasonably priced for Hong Kong, and I'll be back.

Went here for dinner after the cinema.

The décor is very nice American diner style.
The menus fold in at a strange angle, I wouldn't recommend people with OCD touch them as they would want to fold them into straight lines the whole time they are trying to order!

We received bread and olive oil and balsamic vinegar on our table which was a nice start to the meal.
We ordered a vegetable pizza and 4 cheese pasta. Again the assumption that a couple are going to share their food left me hungry.
My other half's food arrived first and my food arrived over 20 minutes later after we asked for it. This is my pet peeve of eating at western restaurants in HK, they always assume you are going to share food.
The manager did however come over and apologise for the delay in serving my food.

Once my pizza arrived I was yet again disappointed by the poor quality. I must say its not as bad as other pizzas I have had here. The base was passable and the sauce had flavour, but it still wasn't great. I tasted a bit of the 4 cheese pasta and it was nice, however it seemed to be over powered by 1 cheese which seemed to be Gouda, which I am not a fan of at the best of times.

Overall I would say this is one of the better "Italian" places in HK, if your not expecting too much.

So I was going into Shatin for work and arrived early and didn't want to shop so I looked around for a place to eat. I walked by this place called Bene and fell in love with their 60's-70's interior design. It kind of reminded me of a malt shop in the 60's in the US.

I sat down and ordered their cake set which was Caramel Cake. It looked like it will literally rot my teeth just by looking at it. However, it was actually not sweet at all and I LOVE the hint of hazelnut that it had.

So I had a chat with the restaurant manager and was told that they do have cake ordering service (great news to me if I needed to order a small cake for wedding ceremony at the shatin town hall).

I was also very grateful to know that they have Lavazza coffee as I'm a coffee freak! If you people out their don't know coffee, Lavazza is really great is a really great Italian coffee which is priced at a high end range of the tier. (Another coffee I like is Cafe Bustelo which is a Mexican coffee not available in HK) So that day instead of having 1 cup of coffee, I ended up drinking 3 cups and changed my appointment with my client to Bene cuz it was so nice and quite (Guess it was tea time so it was kind of slow)
