Unfortunately, the restaurant's policy is to allow dinner for only 2 hours!!!! How can they expect a large group of 8 people to finish dinner from 7:30 - 9:30???? I can't believe how they would demand that from a large group! I can understand that they place is busy during the weekend and that maybe a smaller group any where between 2-4 people could maybe leave the restaurant in 2 hours if they aren't being social! I'm turned off by this service and don't plan to try out their steaks anymore....what a shame! Supplementary Information: Next time it would be wise to make considerations for larger parties that will spend quite an amount in one sitting before you turn them away!Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

we were lucky to have a window-located table as we did not make reservations. we really enjoyed our meal: received bread as an appetizer. pour some of the olive oil on your plate and sprinkle with salt..how it should be done. appetizers Mushroom and Parmesan Empanada - really tasty, the mushrooms tasted really good. the pastry itself was a bit on the thick side but it was good. Fire grilled shrimps: excellent! main 8 oz fillet: cooked medium-rare. very tasty, perfectly cooked. it's a thick piece, 8oz fills the belly. 12 oz sirloin: cooked medium. tasty, but it would have been better medium-rare. the medium had the sides very cooked and only the middle was medium/medium-rare. it's a thick piece, perhaps 8oz would have been fine as i wasn't able to eat the sides as these were too cooked. fries: thin and tasty. broccoli: crunchy and testy, not too much garlic overal very satisfied. Tango is a steak house in Argentinian tradition, located in the Soho area. One of the best place for a grilled steak. It serves prime Argentine beef over the open fired parilla. It also serves sizzling seafood and pasta. It has a wide selection of Argentinian and Spanish wine with great tannin to go with the grilled steak. Cuisine: Argentinian Food rating: 5/10* Service: 5/10 Ambiance: 7/10 Price: HK$360pax * Food Rating: 6/10 is equivalent to 1 Michelin star, 8/10 to two Michelin stars, and 9/10 or above to three Michelin stars Sirloin (6/10) The sirloin has great colour and flavour. The steak was cooked to medium rare, pink, and seasoned to just right. More importantly, the chef seasoned with more sea salt to finish it after its cooked, the chef know what he was doing! The steak was grilled with charcoal, loved the flavour, it would be just perfect if it finish off with some butter and let it melt.
6/10
The skin was slight crispy, it could be better, only if the chef has score the salmon. The salmon lacked seasoning as well. More importantly, the chef would able to season the salmon with salt in-between the cuts, to give a kick to the salmon, you can put thyme, rosemary and basil. The salmon was raw in-side, I guess maybe it’s the Argentinian style, but I do prefer it cooks pink.
3/10
The mushrooms was pan-fried with garlic and thyme, the mushrooms were very juicy.
4/10
The Brussels sprouts was boiled with salt water and then stir-fried with garlic and butter with the green beans. It was fairly season, and crunchy.
5/10
Give me a thumbs up if you like it! Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

I feel the need to share with you one of my favourite lunch spots in Central! Tango Argentinian Steakhouse is run by the Dining Concepts restaurant group, which also brought to us many favourites including Bistecca, Cecconi’s, and the newly-opened Lupa. Tango, as its name suggests, serves Argentinian and Latin American food. I don’t know much about Argentinian cuisine, but I could assure you that Tango definitely takes their steak seriously! Set lunch is $268 for 2 courses with the 10-oz Hanger Steak for the main course, and $118 for 2 courses without the steak. The best thing about Tango is that even though the food is absolutely fantastic, its location on the first floor of a building on Wyndham Street (which is far for most people working in Central) means that you could almost always walk in and find a table without reservation. This Mixed Ceviche with Citrus Dressing is my all-time favourite appetiser. The salmon was chunky, fresh and delicious, and the avocado was a fantastic match with the raw fish. The portion was not small at all, which suited carnivores like myself and my friends.
The Charred Calamari with Mixed Salad and Garlic Aioli was beautifully char-grilled and was gorgeously full of flavours! Also, it comes with a large, hearty mixed salad so you could tell yourself that it is very healthy...

Took my date there on a Friday night, she's had a rough week at work. I suggest booking 2 days in advance because the tables get booked pretty early on. I booked one day ahead could only get a table for 6:30-8:30pm. I prefer those high tables along the window to get your own secluded area with a nice view of the traffic (pedestrian traffic too) on Wyndam/Hollywood Road. I highly recommend their "Gaucho platter" -- with one piece each of fillet, skirt steak, and rump steak (about 5 oz. each, cooked). They come with 6 types of sauce and relishes.
With candle light on each table, the ambiance at this restaurant is just wonderful. Pricey (HK$400-500/pax.) but worth a try. Great service too.

This was my second time dining at Tango. The first time being on Christmas eve so it was a set dinner menu. I wasn't too thrilled with our dinner on Xmas eve but I gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe the food was mediocre since it was Christmas eve and they were very busy. So I decided to give them another try as i'm a big steak fan. I called to make reservations that day and they told me the only table they had available was at 9pm which is quite late but I was planning on going happy hour before so it was fine, told them to call if a table becomes available earlier. They called at 8pm and told me they have an earlier opening When we arrived the restaurant wasn't even full, which had me wondering why they initially told me they had no table until 9pm.... hmmm...
Palm hearts salad
We also shared sides of brussels sprouts and green beans and grilled portobello mushrooms which were nothing special. I have heard such good things about the steak here but sad to say I did not enjoy my steak at all. It's a cute restaurant and if someone were to choose to go there again I would return but not order steak. Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

Steak seems to be something that is very hard to find in HK, steak done properly anyway. Having read a few reviews I decided to give Tango a go, I had had a couple of verbal recommendations as well, some positive, some negative. But we wanted to go out for steak and thought an Argentinian Steakhouse should have some scope to get it right. Alas I was wrong. Service was fine, no wait to be seated and barely had time to take a breath before we were asked about water - realized why when the bill came! The menu is not extensive, a little disappointing given that relatively easy to put together most of the menu via the grill - even the steak choices were very limited. We had the Empanadas (three on the menu, had one of each), they were quite nice, perhaps a little overcooked. The hand cut Sirloin one appeared to have been made by a first timer, or perhaps dropped before cooked, either way it was a very different shape to the other two. But they were on the whole ok. The entree plates were removed but we were left with the same cutlery. As for mains, we ordered 2 Ribeyes ($338 each), 1 Rump ($278) and 1 Black Cod ($288). The Black Cod came well before the steaks, that meal was half consumed before the steaks arrived. Sauce was water, fish was small and overcooked. Poor value for money. The Rump was deemed ok but not special. The Ribeye was thick but on the whole disappointing, a lot of gristle in the meat and a lot of effort to cut through (contrast this with the Ribeye from Pacific Gourmet which you could cut with a butter knife - although that is cooked at home!). As other reviews note, they rub the meat with a salt based rub so quite salty, was ok, but no offer of cracked pepper. The six condiments that came with it were nothing special, the horseradish sauce appeared to be out of a jar, suspect they were all commercially supplied other than perhaps the salsa. We had two sides, French Fries ($58) and Mushrooms ($58). The fries were Macca's style, could well have come from Macca's with a garlic butter perhaps drizzed over in the restaurant. Either way, not a $58 side. The mushroom dish had 2 mushrooms and 3 garlic cloves, a little under whelming for the price. We had two desserts, Churros and the Leche Flan. The Churros were light and again a little overcooked. The Flan has been talked about in other reviews, whilst light it was nothing special, served with reduced condensed milk. Not authentic. The wine list was quite extensive but the mark-up large even by HK standards, we fancied a Merlot but only 3 to choose, 2 from the US, one Argentinian, we gave the Argentinian a go and it was quite nice. Didn't have a beer but only two on the menu. The service was attentive and the staff pleasant, the food was expensive and disappointing. I think many people in HK, those that have given Tango a positive review anyway, have not had an opportunity to have a truly decent steak, for them Tango may be acceptable but it will certainly disappoint others. I would not revisit. Date of Visit: Dec 04, 2011 Occasion: Birthday Spending per head: Approximately HKD600(Dinner) Other Ratings: Taste 2 | Environment 3 | Service 4 | Hygiene 2 | Value for Money 1

In general, there're two types of dining experience in Hong Kong.. First one is merely for enjoying food and you don't give a damn about the decor nor the service. The other type is a real sit down dinner where you gotta provide everything. I don't expect top-notch standard but at least the very fundamental element - respect, which even the aforementioned restaurants would be able to provide. Yet Tango clearly is incapable of understanding.. I've to first warn you that I can't give a very thorough review on their service coz I was unable to experience everything. Reason being we got too offended that we had to leave before ordering. I made a reservation hours before arrival at the restaurant with my name and mobile no as usual booking requires. Normally, the tel no is registered for the purpose of the restaurant to follow up (re-confirm) the booking if necessary and as an identity to differentiate the booking from any booking that maybe made under the same name. We arrived on time and guess what? Our table was served to somebody else who claimed to be me. We clarified that's not the case and suggested them to check the number. They spoke to table-stealer who insisted that they made a reservation under my name. I can understand how difficult it'd be to kick them out if they've been seated and inisisted that the restaurant missed their booking. So when they said we'd be given first priority for next table available, I'm fine to settle with that. However, we wanted to reflect this to the manager to make sure she's aware of it. We got turned down as she's very busy and she'd attend to us as soon as she has a minute. Obviously she never had a minute. So we waited for another 10-15 mins where we saw two other tables were served before us and when we tried to clarify the situation about the "first priority" and asked to speak to manager again, the receptionist said the table will be ready shortly and she'd look for the manager - which obviously didn't really happen. Until she came back and finally bring us to our table, we again insisted to talk to the manager. The manager finally came and told us she's not aware of all these which is complete BS. And we told her we had waited for almost 30mins trying to speak to her and she responded "that's strange, I was at the entrance 15mins ago and didn't see you". This is completely disrespectful - we were there waiting for so long and why did she has to question something that is true? why didn't she go question something that was clearly untrue - i.e. the table stealer? why did she as a manager not try to manage the situation ASAP but trying to avoid it? (of coz i know why - this is not HER restaurant. she doesn't care. she'd think there're still other customers filling up the restaurant and no one would notice her negligence as a manager. she just doesn't understand the power of word of mouth) We couldn't take it and had to leave right away.. This is not a 5 star hotel restaurant. I don't expect perfect service. I don't mind having to wait a bit even with reservation as long as there's a fair system in place. Even the cheap restaurants do this well. I don't know what this restaurant is up to to offer such horrible service? Do they know what RESPECT is? The issue is not on the table stealer anymore. It's how the restaurant is incapable of making up for their own mistake. It's also on the manager's unprofessional attitude. Complete disrespectful. Table Wait Time: 30 minute(s)

What can I say? This is the best fillet steak I have had in a long time: tender, juicy, perfectly cooked. I love the big open grill. The side dishes we ordered were grilled peppers; mixed vegetables & sweet potato. The peppers were cooked perfectly & tasted lovely and sweet. I didn't have room for the rest but my friend said they were very tasty too. Neither of us had room for dessert but we polished off quite a lot of good Malbec. They have a great selection of Argentinian wine & the menu is simply laid out by grape variety for those of us who are not clever that way. Service was very good except for one waiter who whisked our wine glasses away without asking us if we wanted another glass (we did!). I can't wait to go back. Recommended Dish(es):

I saw this place thru one of the Magazines and decided to go there as it looked interesting.. however, the visit was truely dissapointing!... should have went outback instead!!! We Ordered : Marinated Eggplant Escabeche Sirloin Argentina 12 oz (Medium well) Malbec Poached Short Ribs Australia French Fries Provenzal Chorizo Sausage Argentina Wine Firstly, the charcoal sirloin steak was a bit towards the salty side .. we didnt even really need to use the 6 side sauces that was provided (and they were way salty too !) .. then came the chorizo sausage which taste alright... nothing memorable about it... The most disspointing was the Ribs which I expected to be grilled or something but it turned out to be stewed then quickly charcoaled upon order.. although the portion was big... but there was really not much taste to it apart from being salty.... But on a good note. the wine was nice and fruity .. I dont think i will ever visit again ! ><! Recommended Dish(es):

I heard about this restaurent for a quite a while and decided to give a try on 5 Feb for lunch. Quite 水靜河飛 during my visit, might be due to the Chinese New Year holiday. I ordered a medium flat iron steak on the set lunch menu. The steak was less than warm and neither tender nor juicy. I'm a meat eater and I was hurry but i just gave it up after consuming 1/3 of the steak. It was an unhappy experience, especially in new year time. That said, I plan to revisit the place again for their steaks on the à la Carte menu. Wish me luck! Recommended Dish(es):

Reservations: We walked in at 7pm on a Tuesday without a reservation and there were two other tables already seated. Restaurant started filling up around 730pm, so reservations are probably recommended. Ambiance: Warm and inviting decor, with lovely old Spanish movie posters on the walls, and interesting touches throughout (such as the faux chandelier made of overturned glasses in the entrance). Rustic chic. Service: Very friendly and efficient, without being cloying. While most new establishments usually have to iron out kinks in their service, everything ran surprisingly smoothly. Then again, it wasn't very busy while we were there so the real test would be a busy weekend night or with a large group. Food: The two of us shared a couple of starters, a steak with sides, and a dessert. Our thoughts on the dishes were pretty unanimous: - Yellowtail Tuna & Watermelon Ceviche - The tuna could've used a bit more marinating time/seasoning, and while the watermelon was a nice idea, it really did nothing to complement the fish...perhaps b/c the watermelon tasted a bit under ripe. - Roasted Pumpkin Salad w/ Goat Cheese & Arugula - Another under-performer. The pumpkin was still quite hard despite having been roasted, and lacked the sweetness from the caramelization that usually comes with being seasoned and roasted properly. The goat's cheese was but a mere dab - why so stingy? - and while goat's cheese and arugula is usually a winning combination for me when contrasted with a fresher or sweeter flavor, the two played a lonesome twosome in this dish. - 12oz Argentinian Sirloin, w/ sides of Roasted Sweet Potatoes w/ Rosemary and Hearth Roasted Onion w/ Balsamic Vinegar - Presentation of the steak itself was rather impressive. The meat is front and centre of a long serving dish, still sizzling as it arrives, surrounded by 6 different accompanying sauces (I particularly enjoyed the salsa and chimichurri). The sirloin was beautifully charred on the outside, and slightly overcooked on the inside (we'd ordered it Medium Rare, but it showed up more Medium). Perhaps it was a leaner cut of sirloin than I normally prefer, or perhaps it was too thick a slab, but the meat really wasn't as tender as I'd hoped and required quite a bit of chewing. The sweet potatoes were simple but very tasty, as was the roasted whole onion with the drizzle of balsamic vinegar. - Dulche de Leche Flan - This was a definite winner! A slice of flan, with a scoop of fresh cream and dulce de leche (milk caramel)...absolutely to die for. It was a lovely way to round out a very underwhelming dinner. Overall, I would give Tango a second shot, if only to try either a different cut of steak, or a different main...and also for that flan, of course. Recommended Dish(es):

I am not sure if this is the first Argentina steakhouse in Hong Kong. The first time I had Argentina-style beef steak was years ago when I was working in Latin America. That meal was an unforgettably great surprise: the succulence, freshness and tenderness of Argentinean beef steak, together with the pleasant scent of wooden barrels, still circulate around my chain of memories. Since then, my positive impression of Argentina extended from its sexy soccer, marvelous landscape, attractive girls, to its delicious beef. I later realized that Argentineans are all beef lovers. The country has fantastic pasture that becomes cradle for such high quality beef comparable to American, Australian or Korean. I just could not wait longer to reserve a table when I learnt that Tango steak house has opened.
Dining Hall in Romance
Exotic Hams hanging at the end of this Table
The restaurant location is slightly above the top of Lan Kwai Fong, on the 1st floor of a commercial building with a sheltered balcony protruding outwards overlooking the street and the slope. There are big windows that can be completely opened to allow you to completely melt yourself into the environment. In the gentle wind on an autumn night, semi-open-air dining is a great choice. Yet if you are having a serious dinner discussion with your solemn business partner, I would suggest the dining hall instead, where you can shield yourself from the traffic noises that at times can be disturbing.
Balcony Seating to melt with Central
Do not get me wrong. The dining hall is equally warm, romantic and comfortable. The colorful red bricks, the slow-turning ceiling fans, the soft light rays from lamps, and the black and white floor titles, etc. all help to fill the 800 square feet area with vivid atmosphere that you would love and expect in a Latin restaurant. Natural point of focus in the dining hall falls on a glowing grill furnace in the open kitchen. The Grill is the heart of the restaurant where all the nice steaks are being cooked, and it came originally from Argentina, not to mention the nice Argentinean chef himself! The same I was surprised, when I learnt that the very pretty Lady Manager is also from Argentina, and has just arrived at Hong Kong for just only 10 days! Like all Latin, central or south Americans who are passionate on food and fun, the lady manager always carries a lovely and sincere smile … so sweet that I even forgot to ask her the most important question – what’s your name? After describing the place, here comes the product. For starter, I ordered a platter of seafood in fruits in tasting portion: yellow tuna in watermelon, salmon in avocado, shrimp in tomato, nicely presented in 3 separate cocktail glasses. This appetizer was refreshing and helped in waking up my stomach for the main course. The price was however on the high side. There was also complimentary bread with butter that was a bit ordinary. Nothing wrong on the bread here, just some restaurants do it better.
I cannot take wines but I am sure there is a good collection of new world Argentina wines in the wine cellar. Next to the wine cellar is a glass store with signature hams hanging down from the ceiling. All these creat a delicious atmosphere and further arouses my appetite.
Wine Cellar with signature Argentina Wines
For main course, I would not forgive myself if I did not order beef steak and that’s the purpose why I was here! Indeed I tried both filet and rib-eyes, both medium-done. Side dish has to be separately ordered and I picked eggplant in vinegar-like sauce. When the steaks arrived, they were served separately with 6 different sauces. Yet what really attracted me was the pleasant odor of natural wooden barrels that spread out from the steaks. Yes, this was the familiar scent that I know about Argentinean beef steak. Taste of filet and rib-eye steaks were both rich and tender – any difference between the two was just a personal preference. And I had my steaks without sauce just to enjoy the original taste of the beef itself. The steaks were no doubt of prime quality, even though they still could not beat those that I had in Latin America. Price was medium and similar to any steakhouse in 5-stars hotels in town.
Grill Furnance in Open Kitchen
Following the main course was a sweet surprise – the dessert. After looking at the dessert menu, I had 2 choices in my mind and one of them was called “Don Pedro”. And this became my final pick naturally after Assistant Manager Cruz recommended this to me. “Don Pedro” is as simple as homemade soft vanilla ice-cream with walnuts and whisky on it. The whisky was added before you. No gimmick here but the combination of ice-cream, walnut and whisky altogether was just perfect. At times after dinner, one may have these 3 common elements separately, yet they mixed so amazingly well to give a sweet surprise highlight of the meal! Price-wise, it is very reasonable given the fact that the portion is good for two persons to share. For those that had other choice of dinner in Lan Kwai Fong area and were just looking for a specialty western dessert plus a coffee to spend the rest of your relaxing night, I would strongly recommend this “Don Pedro” in Tango.
After the dessert, I relaxingly enjoyed my latte to mark the completion of my very nice meal. This is a new restaurant and so there are only a few tables on Sunday night. As a result, I found myself having good enough attention from the restaurant crews, yet still had my own private time to chat and take pictures. And the food came at just the right pace, not too fast (it is fine dining!), not too slow (it is HK!). It was an enjoyable Argentinean night. Recommended Dish(es):
