good friend change her working pattern since last month, so we would like to have a chatting place in vegetarian style to know each other this evening~ Wanchai is one of my favour openrice-place though we get lost at the first 10 mins during the wrong information of that website ( correct direct is opposite side of Southorn Playground 修頓遊樂場, 修頓球場 對面)
from 7:20 to 9:20, we found customers almost fully occupied the "canteen" (setting) especially around 8:00pm, we're lucky to have a seat before the peak-time! not more than 15 mins, our app. delight us at first sight: 2 types of dumpling
golden dumpling (招牌金沙餃)
While the green-veg.one (樂農素菜餃)
after 5 mins, fried-rice with 5 colour ingredients (健康炒飯) come before the highlight "crispy" beancurd in orange-sauce
My favour is crispy beancurd in orange-sauce (橙汁素鵝) (actually that dish have a funny chinese name in 4 words) also non-oily & in good taste of orange You can see the layer is clear & really attractive from a closer-look
finally the last one is steam to-fu with veg-fish (魚仔蒸豆腐)
We have a good time when taiwanese chatting besides us having big different dishes compare with ours, we say goodbye without dessert as our stomach almost fully occupied by the dishes this evening
Supplementary Information: ~ variety choice for variety customer include western !~ 10% service charge is worthy especially most of the workers are hardworking with cheerful smile ! ~ lady from the open-kitchen really smart & agressive : Keep up collegues for refilling customer's tea-pot ! ~ most of the worker using 助聽器, they communicate with hand-sign with each other, we order by pointing on the menu more than lip-reading! ~ table for 2 is a challenge when dishes come together with limited space on it ! ~ tea-pot can be smaller if they don't mind serve more for refilling! One day me and my mom decided to get dinner together in Wan Chai after work. We didn't know where to eat, so she suggested this restaurant that she always passes by when she goes to work. We did not make a reservation but the wait was not long at all. At the entrance, there was a shelf where they put all the natural products that they sell. I bought some healthy snack bars that were on sale and they tasted pretty good. They give you tea (keeping in mind that they do charge you depending on how many people you have) and free veggie appetizer once you get seated. I totally forgot to write down the English names for the dishes that we ordered but here's the list and descriptions: 生煎蓮藕餅: These mini pancakes were definitely my favorite dish that night. They were mainly made of lotus roots. 金沙湯餃: These dumplings were mainly made of potato and tomato. Becareful when you eat them because the filling is hot and it flows out once you take a bite. 栗子腐球煲: If you like chestnuts, this is definitely the pick becuase they give you a lot! 薑番薯糕: This dessert was my second favorite. It was not too sweet and has a hint of ginger. Yumm! The wait for the food was not long at all. Food was delicious and at a fair price. Service was also fast and good. Overall, I was pretty satisfied and would love to go back whenever I want vegeterian food. Supplementary Information: The place was kind of loud since it was packed. I do not recommand this place if you are trying to have a serious talk. However, I have to give this place a plus for hiring people with hearing problems. They are very patient and polite Table Wait Time: 10 minute(s)

It was vegetarian day on Sat and my friend and I decided to try out this new vegetarian restaurant for lunch in Wanchai. We arrived at a good time and even though the restaurant was quite full, we got a seat very quickly. The staff was really friendly and helpful. We ordered: a) house special dumplings in soup- I think the dumpings were filled with mashed pumpkin and some carrots. They were quite nice but I think it would be better if the dumpings had some more "texture" to it. b) hot and spicy "fun si"- I like this dish but I think my friend found it a bit spicy. If you like spicy food, I recommend this dish. c) Vegetable curry- This was OK. Nothing too special. d) Baked yam and pumpkin rice- This was the best dish out of the foour but unfortunately we were too full when it came so we tried an little and packed up the rest for dinner that evening. On the whole, it was a nice and relaxing place to have a meal and I would go back. I applaud the restaurant's efforts in employing waiters and waitresses with hearing impairments and there was a sign encouraging customers to communicate with the waiters and waitresses using sign language. The restaurant is on the first floor of Bayfield Building, and you need to take the elevator up one floor, the elevator is somewhat festive, because it makes a weird halloween sound effect when the door opens and closes, also the doors are on both sides. When I walked in, I did'nt realised they changed the style like Loving hut, where you order, pay and collect. I thought it was going to be sit down, order, and they will serve you. At the counter there was a sheet, where you tick three choices out of the six, a choice of plain rice or wholemeal rice with soup for $40 and $30 for takeout. I think I should point out in my review that the staff there have hearing impairments as stated in their equal opportunities statement. It was mentioned in the chinese review, but I just came here by the pictures without reading the reviews.
Anyway, it took a while for them to get the meal ready, because the red beancurd dish had run out. For my six choices, I chose red beancurd vegetables, tomato and potato curry, and tomato and egg. One of the good choices, the fried taro paste patty was crossed off from the list and replaced with the egg and tomato.
Rice: too mushed and clumped together. Curry tomato and potato: Tasted quite tomatoey, and I managed to find a piece of Okra!! Texture: watery. Red beancurd vegetables: Tasted a bit bland, and very Starchy/gritty due to the lotus seeds. Egg and tomato: Too sweet Soup: Typical vegetarian soup taste that is sweet and has a strong taste of beans.
Overall, it is a good place for healthy food, but maybe slightly too noisy. I think next time I will check out the food side before the sheet to see what it actually looks like before making up my mind. Other Ratings: Taste 3 | Environment 3 | Service 3 | Hygiene 3 | Value for Money 3
