Dim Sum not bad, inexpensive  Just OK Apr 26, 2013
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Food was served relatively quickly, service was as to be expected in any cha cheng tang.

The vegetable (choi sum) I thought was a bit stringy.

The prawn rice roll (Cheung fun) was ok but not fantastic.

The mushroom dumpling with caviar was not particularly good and the cheese bun was essential grilled cheese on a bun.

Otherwise it was cheap and you do get your money's worth.

seriously overated Cries Sep 29, 2012
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
    First time tried.
蝦餃 - skin is good. but only taste sesame oil over shrimp. ( quality below average)
糯米雞 - bit overcook sticky rice, fatty meat more than expected. rice didn't absorb taste of leaves..( quality below average )
星星脆魚腸 - the skin is pretty good. 魚腸 is fair ( quality ok)
青芥脆蝦一口漢堡仔 - most respect & excellent part is the wasabi sauce. shrimp & bread ok ( quality pretty good )
土魷肉餅飯 - nightmare! 50% fatty..it's mini dice sharp fatty mixed with 肉餅, unable to taste 土魷 and no taste of meat at all ( nightmare!)

PS. drink huge amount of tea and water 2 hrs after the meal...thought it's serious MSG.

When I arrived there , it was their Dinner break so I waited outside the restaurant. After 10 minutes, the boss came out and asked if I would like to eat now. I was supposed to wait for another half an hour. And I said I better wait as I don't wanna disturb u guys eating. But he insisted to serve ussmileI was surprisedlol and really appreciated!! The dim sum were delicious !! I loved the 咸水角so much! Its not greasy at all! They looked so lovely like carrots!!And the chef offered me some complimentary desserts!! I was so impressed

New stylish dim sum Smile Jan 07, 2011
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
    Date dined: Thursday 6th jan 2011 1.00pm

Taste: -(listing from the dish i thought that tasted the best
    1. 黑魚子花菇蒸燒賣 - this was the best dish. The pork sui mai was huge and very juicy. it is very hard to get that moisture from steamed dim sum nowdays. Usuall ythey are over steamed and they become very dry and hard. It only came in two though, maybe because of the size, but it was definately worth trying. i am still thinking of how good it tasted!!!

    2. 滑蛋煎糯米雞- When i read the name of this dish i was really interested. the egg pan fried with the glutonous rice sounds absolutely delicious. It came on a small plate, you can see the yellow egg pan fried around the rice. not as runny as i would like. the taste was good, quite different. As 糯米雞is usually dry with some meat in centre with a little sauce. But this time with the egg, it amkes the whole thing more exotic. i quite liked it but companion did not, preferred the traditional 糯米雞.

    3. 星星脆魚腸粉- I had to try this cheung fun as i have never seen this cheung fun anywhere before. Deep fried fish in the cheung fun batter. The appearance definately worth full stars. Nicely and equally cut into 6 pieces, snow white cheung fun batter. It was nice and warm. The fish inside was very crunchy and did not taste like fish, but taste rather like a fried dough. the cheung fun was smooth and soft but bit tasteless. had to dip the pieces into soy sauce whih was not too salty. i quite liked this whole new idea, but enxt time if i do return, i will try another cheung fun. they have a few more special cheung funs.

    4. 金柱帶子石榴果: I saw a picture of this dish outside by the window and it caught my eyes. It was white pocket with scallops and prawns in it. Looked very nice. it came as the second dish and i couldn't wait to dig into it. But it was disappointing It was tasteless. i could taste the prawn, i could taste the scallops but it did not seem to go. And there was nothing there to surprise me. it looked like something that would definately be the star of the day but it did not. i had to dip it into lots of soy sauce. i dont think it is worth the price.

    5. 和式綠茶奶黃包 : I like green tea. And i like custurd. So ordering a green tea custurd buns was logically RIGHT! They came in three's. Very petite and pale green colour. I could not taste much of the green tea and would prefer a stronger green tea taste. the custurd inside was not stiff, bit runny which i like. not too sweat so you can taste the custurd. I quite liked the bun, but it is a dish with lots of room for improvements.

    6. 芥脆蝦一口漢堡仔. this was probably the dish that looked the most 'not dim sum' dish. A burger? what a gimmick. but it did taste very good. The bun is full of white sesame, very nice and it was so soft. I loved the white sesame bun. I loved the burger with wasabi sald sauce. So yummy. But for a dim sum? erm.. probably no...

Overall: It is a new dim sum place with lots of creative idea and it works! Alot more fusion or mix and match dim sum. so dont go there, if u prefer ur tradtional dim sum. Everything is very small and pertite and definately looks very modern and creative. I loved the ideas. even the plate and bowls sets are stylish. The food is just a tiny bit more expensive than other new dim sum plcae. there are averagely 50 seats and i did notw ait that longeven at lunch time. You get dim sum sheets where u just tick what you want. You choose ur tea and it is 3 hk dollars per a head. But the tea was not worth it. There are tea bags tea. so not much rich taste to the tea. Services is okay. fast and efficient services. food was bought to our tabel fairly quick.

the whole bill came up to 120 hk dollars, i expected more as we ordered quite a few plates and it is more expensive than other dim sum place. i loved this new dim sum place. the dim sum is creative, yummy and it is sassy. although going all way to Kowloon city is quite a trek, but it is onli a 5min minibus ride from MK. And you can nip to lovely dessert places in kowloon city. i love it. i will return defnately. And i am hoping see their new branch opening somewhere soon.

Fusion dim sum @ kowloon city Just OK Dec 31, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Reminds me of V cuisine which I am itching to go, but V Cuisine locations in Tsuen Wan and Kwun Tong are a bit of a trek.

My initial impressions of the place was the noise, it was so noisy with people talking and the nasty clinking of the cups and bowls.

Anyway, sat down, it was freezing, and the air conditioning was so strong it was giving me the chills, the worst thing was, the temperature outside was warmer.

Ordered the toasted tea, which was rather bland.
All the teas they used were teabags, although the teabags are prepared by themselves, for a big teapot like that, there should be at least two bags inside or more tealeaves per bag.

The menu had chinese and english, but the english was slightly wrong,

MENU description: "beancurd sheet rolls with tomato and egg soup"
from the description I was expecting beancurd sheet rolls in tomato and egg soup literally, not thick tomato and egg sauce, and there was no indication in the english it was fried.

    MENU description: "pomegranite juice pudding"
it wasnt pomegranite flavouring, but guava.

    Ordred the following items:

MENU description: Baked rice with preserved sausage and chicken + preserved pork
There was nothing interesting about this dish.

MENU description:Steam pork dumpling with caviar
    Just tasted how it should.

MENU description:Steamed rice rolls with slice beef and thousand year egg
This was the best dish, beef with cut pieces of preserved egg wrapped in rice roll.

MENU description:beancurd sheet rolls with tomato and egg soup
This wasnt what I was expecting, the tomato and egg soup was actually thick sauce, which went well with the deep fried meat.
This was the dish I expected it to look like, with the soup being tomato and egg as stated on the menu.

MENU description: deep fried sticky meat dumpling
These were carrot shaped whey they arrived.

MENU description: deep fried pork dumpling and prawn dumpling
This was basically a porking dumpling and a prawn dumpling deep fried, however the prawn dumpling didnt taste as good as dragons descent.
    http://static4.openrice.com.hk/UserPhoto/photo/1/138/007R1V4A6B500A42B2EBFEm.jpg

    MENU description: Garlic cheese bun
    Tasted like garlic bread.

MENU description: Mini wasabi mustard burger
    There was no "wasabi" taste.

    MENU description: pomegranite juice pudding
Just tasted like fake cream with a hint of guava not pomegranite

MENU description: Steamed brown sugar cake
This was bitter and the self raising flour didnt serve its purpose, because the texture was clumped together.

Good dim sum place nearby Smile Nov 29, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Found this closeby dim sum place while searching for where to eat tonight. Place is closeby in kowloon city. Obviously don't expect to have parking spaces as kowloon city is infamous for not having enough of those...

We didn't have to wait at all and sat straight down at around 7:30pm. Service was excellent both by staff and a guy who looked like the owner. Foodwise, everything was up to standard, nothing to complain at all. Have to agree with the other reviews that the burger was pretty good, but if you don't like wasabi don't order it as it could feel a bit too spicy for some. The 臘腸雞煲仔飯 was even more well prepared than many other places that specialize in 煲仔飯.

Shrimp 腸粉 was very yummy too. The shrimps had a chewy feeling on top of the thin and smooth "skin" wrapped around them. Price was very cheap indeed, total around $140 for 2 people.

Seats were a little uncomfortable as they were hard wooden seats but overall experience was good.

If you're looking for a cheap place with good dim sum then you must give it a try, especially if you happen to live around or pass by this area.

    prawn dumpling
    chopstick
prawn is fresh and very big, not much fatty meat inside, the outer layer is very thin but didn't break so that it's still very juicy

thousand year egg beef rice roll
    chopstick
it was cut into 6 mini pieces, the beef is so so, the egg has no strange smell, and it was a good fusion style! the rice roll is very smooth~

    purple lo mai mango roll
    chopstick

not very sweet, even with cream it taste alright! the outer layer of lo mai is very sticky and quite soft, good to try!

    cheung yu meat biscuit rice
    chopstick
quite a lot of fatty meat mixed with cheung yu....but it's fresly steam coz it's very hot! the rice is alright, not too soft and not too hard, add some soya source it's good

    beef ball in soup
    chopstick

beef ball is normal in taste, but very smooth! the soup base is very fresh, i drink them all, they added some muchroom too so that the soup base is very sweet~

i will come again to try other types of dim sum later!
