As of writing, I still don't understand why the restaurant named itself FULL/half. But if I really were to relate it to my dining experience here, perhaps the "glass of water" concept will be the perfect explanation.

I must admit that this place is extraordinarily unique from most other coffee shops/restaurants I've been to. From the furnitures to the cutlery, they were all but fashionable and smart. You could trace most of the items in this restaurant from the home products store named "HOMELESS" just next to FULL/half. They were all imported from the West as one may tell with a heavy touch of western design in every item.

My mum and I came here for our groupon lunch. Thanks to the intriguing atmosphere, we were able to divert our attention away from the interior design and to have forgotten about the approximately 30 minutes waiting of our meal.

After 30 minutes or so, our starter and tea finally arrived. Despite the portion size, the salad was well served with the fresh breadcrumbs and softened parma ham. I was really glad that the portion was small because I later found the tea set was actually quite filling. The chrysanthemum honey tea was also found to be interesting as the chrysanthemum was locked in a receiver and as we stirred the tea, the taste of it would gradually released.

The bizzare yet special design of the tea set's stand was again, a product of HOMELESS. In terms of food, it was rather surprising to find that as we moved on from the bottom to the top, it was the other way round for quality. We found the bottom most impressive -- special mention must be the cold noodles topped with roe and the warmly served mini burger. Their tiny portions were excellent for ladies to get a fine taste of everything but not filling up the tummies. The middle layer was rather disappointing due to the portions served were too salty for one to continue. The top layer of dessert was too sweet but the blueberry with strawberry tart was a nice wrap up of the meal nevertheless.

I could actually criticize my dining experience in FULL/half due to long waiting time for our food in a quiet afternoon, alongside with the mostly average type of savoury and desserts served, specially when we came because of their groupon promotion. However, the name FULL/half inspired me that perhaps it all comes down whether you looked at your dining experience from a "glass of water" concept -- whether you see all the waiting and quality of food being a dissatisfaction (half cup of water) or whether you see your enjoyment in blending in with the atmosphere as well as being inspired by the fashionable items here as a grant of joy (full cup of water).

Great place for light brunch Smile Aug 19, 2012

I came across this place while killing time in TST, and the brunch sets appealed to me so I decided to eat there. I really like the atmosphere. Even though it's up in a building, because the whole floor has a kind of 'country-barn-like' decor (best description I can muster) it makes it quite pleasant.

I had the Norwegian Salmon Salad, Smoked Turkey Chiabata, and a Cafe Latte for $88 + 10%

The food was delicious and the service was prompt and warm. I would go back in a flash. Great place.

My parents & I decided to try this place out and surpisingly, it was good. Take note however, that the restaurant isn’t really easy to find. It’s located on L8 of The One and the location of the restaurant itself is quite hidden. However, once you’re there, it is very comfortable. The server’s are friendly and attentive.

    What we ordered:

Tiger Prawns Salsa, which was absolutely dee-lish! The serving was quite little, but nevertheless it was good.
    Yum!
    Yum!

Cream of Truffle Wild Mushroom Soup. So creamy!

Organic Risotto with Crab Meat & Pesto. FTW!
    Winner of the night!
    Winner of the night!

Roasted Australia Lamb Tenderloin w/ Mint Yoghurt Dressing. Now, this was sooo good. Even the lamb 'fats' were so juicy!! smile

Roasted Saikyo Miso Black Cod w/ French Beans & Fennel. To be honest, I didn't really like it. Too sweet for my liking (but hey, to each his/her own!)

    ... And for dessert lol

    Blackbox. So-so.

    Blueberry Hill

Cafe Mocha. The way they served this is/was sooo cute. smile

All in all, for dinner, it costed around HKD$700. It's worth it though. I would definitely come back for the Lamb and the Risotto.

    A Fullfilling Full/half Dinner Smile Jan 27, 2011
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
A gathering with friends and my first dining experience at Full/half! We were quite early (6-ish) so there were just a few tables when I joined my friends. The atmosphere was quite cozy with a pinch of shabby chic. Even the cutlery and tableware were quite stylish. Definitely a place for a girls' night out!

There were dinner sets available but we thought it'd be cheaper to order a la carte. Two of us had cream of truffle soup as appitizer and fresh urchin spaghetti (HKD80-ish) as mains . Another friend of mine ordered linguine with prawns.

LOVE the truffle soup as it was quite creamy and thick. The tiny bits of mushrooms and truffles filled my mouth with sweet aroma! The size of truffles and mushrooms was just right so you have the right amount of these chewy bits for every mouthful of soup.

The spaghetti with fresh Japanese urchin with cherry tomatoes and crab roe wasn't bad as well. I would say the seasonings were of just the right balance. Again, the sauce is rather thick. I finished the whole dish but my friend couldn't prolly because of the strong-flavoured thick sauce. I found the chewiness of spaghetti just right though. All in all, quite a fine dish.

My friend got her spaghetti with prawns. She seemed happy with the main as well.

Finished off with desserts. I had a warm chocolate flan (HKD38) and my friend had a jar of tiramisu and a piece of opera cake respectively. My chocolate flan was nice for the top (crisp enough) and the inside (hot chocolate flow) but not the base. It's weird because the consistency was different for the base which I believe is due to overcooking. It was chewy. Personally I would prefer homemade vanilla icecream with vanilla seeds to Movenpick's icecream.

The jar of tiramisu looked impressive on its own! ^v^ My friend loved it. And same for the opera cake.

We all love the restaurant and would surely head back for more! =)

Longer Opening Hours Needed! Smile Jan 17, 2011
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook

Homeless is always one of my favourite shop for browsing cute unique gifts/decorations. With Homeless occupying the whole 8/F at The ONE ...... of course must visit often la! This coffee corner is a great hangout place ..... but they really should have longer opening hours. On a Saturday night, many people would like to visit for desserts/drinks. But we saw many disappointed customers has to leave, cos they were not taking any more orders (near 10pm).

For our desserts, we ordered the following:
    Nothing Special Orange Soda
    Nothing Special Orange Soda

Organic soda .... but no uniqueness in compare to regular orange pop. No straw or glass was given ...... shouldn't they have present it better and open the can in front of you to pour into a nice glass or something? sad
    Homemade Cookies Coffee Smoothies
    Homemade Cookies Coffee Smoothies

This was a wonderful smoothie (but I forgot to ask them to take off the cream) ... .and after I manually removed the cream ... nearly all the cookie crumbs were gone .... but still taste yummy! But I didn't ask for take-out ah .... howcome they give me a plastic cup? sad
    Best Tiramisu!!!
    Best Tiramisu!!!

I'm always a tiramisu fans .... but this is simply one of the best. Luv it in a jar .... and tasting each spoonful with their special spoon ..... just PERFECT! tongue

Last but not least (although the waiter told us need to wait for 10 mins .... but we waited for like 25 mins .... huffyhuffyhuffy):
    Coffee Flavour Cream Brulee
    Coffee Flavour Cream Brulee

Creamy with light coffee flavour and hard caramel coating ..... very delicious! Worth the wait .... but hopefully they can speed up the process!

Oh ...... although they do charge service charge, but 5% instead of 10% .... think it's a good deal!

Over price cafe  Dec 24, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
This place is really disappointed me, i went there last nite with friends, the cafe telling us that they only got a festive set menu, and when i look at the menu, they are asking for $ 310 + service charges, the menu is nothing special, just some kind of lunch menu and convert to a festive menu. We got 4 friends together and we realized we need to pay $ 1400 together for such a cafe quality dinner, then we finally requst to leave the restaurant and go downstair for Suzuki cafe.
To be honest, if we are willing to pay $ 1400 for 4 ladies to eat for such a cafe dinner, we can go somewhere else for fine dinning in SOHO or hotel restaurant, no need to stuck in a cafe!
Well, it is hard to say it worth or not, but i will never and recommend friends to go there for dinner....Sorry!
