smile We were so tiered and found seats finally.

We've always liked the beef balls, but APPLE PIE was the magic of the day.

It was nice and cold from the shelf, Love at first Bite.....very refreshingly cool, crispy fresh apple and just the right amount of cinimon made it a perfect ending, followed by a cup of regular coffee.

I told my brother to try it out and he agreed, we've never had apple pie so good before.

By the way, you guys try to leave some for others to pick from the fridge......I will be back!

Just what we needed after almost exorsting walk around the store.

Heard positive comments about Ikea's restaurant, but it isn't as good as I thought. The food is edible...
Everything we ordered was almost cold (with the super cold air-con, it made it even worse.)
The pizza (+ soft drink) for $29 was hard to cut. Again, cold. The potato salad for $15 was alright for its price. The only thing worth eating was the apple pie for $14.
Still it was a fun experience.

I have not seen IKEA Sha Tin yet, so for me, Megabox is the biggest one I've seen in HK!

I've always enjoyed IKEA, the wonderful ideas their model rooms are giving us and at some point, you'd even like to buy EVERYTHING!

Well, for their food, everything looks great too and sometimes, we'd just want to try everything!

I've been to megabox twice only, and I've always been with two other people and yet our bill never went over HK$145, we never ate without dessert and drinks -- that's how affordable it is. Although, I have to warn you of the long line lol but don't worry you'll be at the cashier in no time!

Here's what we have eaten here:
The ever so popular Swedish meatballs! :D

This pasta was very..plain - my sister didn't like it very much hehehe..she chose this because it was organic tongue
    Crayfish linguine

This pasta was OK, when we added the tomato sauce from the organic pasta, it tasted even better! It would help if the toppings had more flavor though..

The mussels were OK, not super good but not bad either. It's actually nice to eat mussels again, haven't had those in months!!

Salmon burger was OK, something different.

I would prefer to have the Swedish meatballs with pasta rather than boiled potatoes.

I recommend the crayfish bisque, chicken wings, Swedish meatballs and apple pie! smile

    Refreshment @ IKEA Smile Jan 05, 2011

To kill a two hours time gap between appointments, I choose to browse around in Jusco and IKEA. Since I was not hungry, I choose to have a quick coffee and pastry in this restaurant.

I got the signature Mandeltarta and coffee at HK$16. My first impression is "Woo, good price!"
    Mandeltarta & Coffee
    Mandeltarta & Coffee

Coffee was 濃度剛好 and in "unlimited refill"。Mandeltarta is a almond cake with frosting top. Compare with smooth sponge cake, I love cake with 咬口 or rough texture. (That's why I like 五仁月餅)

"HK$16" is a beautiful price for a cake set in this town. According to IKEA.com, a standalone Mandeltarta costs GBP2.25.

Although inflation rate in this town is significant, most of the food in this town is stil relatively inexpensive. That's why I prefer having my holiday in HK instead of staying in the States.

To be honest, I sensed nothing special about the infamous meatballs here. In fact, they both looked and tasted below mediocre. And, at the risk of sounding arrogant and overconfident in my few culinary skills, I sincerely believe that:

    I make way better meatballs.

    I make waaaaaay better dessert.

And I make waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better pasta.

AND I can serve them while still fresh, without you having to queue for ages, and having to carry it on a tray to a table far away.

What’s worse (for this restaurant), is that I’m pretty sure LOTS of other people would be qualified to say the above.

It has been a nice lunch in Ikea's restaurant, yet my stomach called me to eat more, so I went to the hot dog stand and planned to buy a six-dollar hot dog...

But surprising, I saw a poster with a big big picture of pizza! Weird to see that a hot dog stand selling pizza, right? But never mind, we should appreciate any new cuisine, so I chose to have one.

The picture in the poster was large, yet the pizza itself is not enormous in any sense - just a tiny piece of rectangle, like what you have for free trial. The pizza was baked long time ago thus it's hard and not hot enough (room temperature). So disappointing to see that.

More important, there was nearly no toppings and sauce, we better describe it as a piece of tasteless bread. I know it is vegetable food and of course we can't see any meat there, but should it be more serious? If plenty of tomato paste and mushrooms are added, it must be incredible! However, now it's just haphazard - I even doubt if the cook knows what a pizza should be like. Finally, I added tons of tomato paste in order to finish the whole thing...

I know it is just $8 and should not ask too much, but I believe that we should not see pizza in Ikea Hot Dog stand!!
