The location of Milky Cow is really inconvenient because it is located on the Mid-Levels. I would only go there if I was nearby, but it is very convenient for people studying at HKU and people that live nearby. Luckily for me, they have now moved to Admiralty because their rent at Mid-Levels have shot up forcing them to open elsewhere.
Froyo:
Toppings are $5 extra per topping, but I was given some wheat bran for free. The froyo was too icy and tasted like froyo sorbet. The taste of the froyo was pleasant and had a natrual yogurt taste. ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★ Supplementary Information: ◎ⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓖⓘⓡⓛ◎ⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓖⓘⓡⓛ◎Price: $20 Service: OK Service charge: no Yummy factor: ok Sweetness levels: just right English Menu: Yes ◎ⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓖⓘⓡⓛ◎ⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓖⓘⓡⓛ◎ Other Ratings: Taste 3 | Environment 3 | Service 3 | Hygiene 3 | Value for Money 3

Despite my complaints I still go on a regular basis whenever I crave for something sweet but healthy, and I would hand over $30 or $40 for a medium moo with three to four toppings. It is NOT cheap at all, as you could get something way tastier and of a bigger portion anywhere else. But no doubt the toppings are of quality. The fruits are always fresh and sweet, and the choice of breakfast cereals is wide enough to dizzy you. The mochi is truly outstanding unlike its chewy and tasteless counterparts in other outlets. But the froyo, as i have said, is just so-so, and it is definitely not worth a long trip across Hong Kong just to have a taste of it. But indeed, like other food we eat, the flavor of the food is the most important; but location also matters. Milky Cow is capable of attracting many customers because there are schools nearby – numberous primary schools, three to four high schools and one university within footsteps – and there are no competitors around the mid-level to western district area. So whenever lazy people (like me) feel like having a frozen treat but do not want to walk all the way to Caine Road (where yo fresh, yogurtime and berrygood are), Milky Cow is the quick answer to their- and my - sweet tooth. we all love milky cow. yes, being the only and nearest froyo shop in the western district, we cant help falling in love with the milking cow-it might not be serving the best froyo in the whole of hong kong, it might not be the cheapest in town, serving the widest range of toppings-nonetheless the proximity of it to my home and my school makes the biggest reason why im falling in love with it, and am visiting it more often than i do with my favourite restaurant in town. i took the medium swirl when i went there, and had raisins, granola and mochi as toppings. the mochi here was significantly sweeter due to the vanilla essence used (as said by the owner). its less chewy but equally tasty! the raisin was not artificially sweetened and went great with the yogurt, giving its unique texture; and finally the granola gave the thing a crispy twist. a lovely combination id say, and i cant stop helping myself to a cup of this healthy yet hearty quick fix whenever i pass by! the only thing i got to complain is the sweetest of the yogurt-if its meant to be froyo, it got to be a little sour or else why dont u just call it soft ice cream instead?

Milky Cow has been around for a while already (not to be confused with the other Froyo “Cows” like Holy Cow and Holly Cow), and being the only Froyo place in this part of Mid-Levels near HKU and the school area, it's hard not to become popular among the younger generation. Before dismissing it as “just another Froyo place”, behold, there's something different...seats! This isn't a usual sight among Froyo shops in HK, apart from certain chain-operated establishments. Finally I can sit down and enjoy my Froyo. Milky Cow only offers 2 flavors at a time, Original, and at the time of my visit, Raspberry. (I don't know if there are other flavors though.) You can mix both and make it a swirl, The Froyo cups come in 3 sizes which they call Small Moo ($20), Medium Moo ($25) and Large Moo ($30), and each of the over 40 toppings and sauces on offer costs $5. My choice was a Small Moo of Original + Raspberry swirl with Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I couldn't see any “swirl” whatsoever as both flavors turned out to be the same color – white. So in one scoop I'd probably have included both flavors. Anyway the raspberry fragrance was “just there” but I guess it helped with the overall flavor as the tartness of the yogurt became evident. (Well, tartness is the essence of yogurt after all.) The texture was light and not too sweet. The cinnamon toast crunch were little sweet crispy squares sprinkled with cinnamon powder and tasted like, um, breakfast cereal. Well, students would be happier coming to Milky Cow though, as the shop's offering complimentary toppings for a different school on each day of the week!

After a guilt-inducing McDonalds lunch, J, C and I visited Milky Cow together. J and C were too full and passed on Froyo. I ordered an Oreo+mango Small Moo (Melon+original twist. I am a personal fan of cows (as evidenced by my profile pic) and was very delighted to see that they had named their sizes in units of 'Moo's. Froyo: New flavour: MELON. I ordered a TWIST. Sadly i couldn't really taste the melon. After all melon doesn't have a particularly strong flavour...that asides, it was a pretty good froyo. I'd heard from my friends that MilkyCow froyo was slightly less sweet, and more sour than the other stores. At first I was reluctant to try because I don't like sour FroYos. But this turned out quite alright. The yoghurt itself actually tastes like Holly Cow (TST East), which is my personal favourite. Pricing (froyo): Small Moo - $20 (no free toppings) Each additional topping - $5 Take-away +$1 Each additional plastic spoon +$0.5 Toppings: A rather extensive list, as you can see from the photo. They also provide all sorts of sauces (Hershey's chocolate, strawberry, caramel). Not as wide a selection of fruits as Holly Cow. But i figured that Oreo goes well with anything creamy. Like McDonald's Oreo McFlurry....or Oreo ice-cream, or ice-cream wedged between two pieces of Oreo....YUMYUM Mango was sweet. $5 each. 3toppings = $15. No loyalty scheme, Humph. Conclusion: For the sake of convenience, Milky Cow would be one of my top choices in the mid-levels. Coz Yo Fresh on Caine Road is a no-go, and personally I think Yoghurtime doesn't even match up to the bare minimum I'd expect of FroYos...(being icy and watery and all that). Berry Good is an excellent choice too. But the price of toppings are a huge disincentive for me...

before leaving for a physically demanding day camp i stopped by for a quick froyo fix, since i did not plan to have lunch. as i had collected ten stamps i was qualified for a free medium 'moo'...with no toppings included, so i ordered oreo, mochi and banana to go with my naked froyo. the very nice shopkeeper suggested their flavour of the day which was peach to me and so i had that instead of the original. to be frank, once you have your toppings covering the froyo you wont be able to tell whether you are putting spoonfuls of originals or other flavours into your mouth since they tasted almost the same. its even a lil too sweet and the sweetness kinda lingers on down to my throat and i felt slightly uncomfortable. yet the toppings were great, especially the banana slices which were freshly cut. the mochi was chewy and the crumbs of oreo, with inconsistent sizes, had added variety to the froyo. plus banana and chocolate tasted great together-i guess the combination of anything with cocoa and banana wont miss. anyways, apart from the over-sweetness and unnoticable differences between flavours, milky cow is on the whole a good froyo shop, since its highly flexible with the no. of toppings and i think the choice is wide enough for anyone to pick comfortably from.

This is a new shop opened on 25th May, 2010, and I was the first batch of customers to try the Froyo in this shop. Since it is located near HKU and some secondary schools around, this is targeting youths and consistent with the trend of eating Froyo in HK recently. Unlike the shops in CWB/TST, this shop is relatively small, and there is only 6 chairs to sit, and the size of the shop is around 1/3 of Yogo. The flavours of Yogurt it offers differ everyday. On the day of my purchase, the shopkeeper told us there were original flavour and raspberry flavour of Yogurt. The price is listed by the size of the cups:- Small- $20, Medium- $25, Large- $30. Unlike Yogo, the pricing of this shop is like Yo mama and Berry good, the toppings are $5 each. The variety of toppings are different from other shops, in particular, the ‘Nuts & Candies” and “Cereal” lists- they tend to fit in the flavours of foreigners, since not only students are their targets, the foreigners who live nearby are also their main customers. “Reese’s Pieces” and “Multi Nut Cheerios” are some of the special toppings which are unique compared with other Froyo shops. The shop is not really big, around 1/3 of the area of Yogo. The original yohurt is not as sour as Yogo, but it’s more milky, like soft ice-cream. It is easily melt, but it’s tasty in the way that you feel like drinking milk. The raspberry yohurt is white in color, the same as the original, which surprised me when I tasted it. It is a bit sweeter than original, and strong berry smell. We got (i) Medium size + Original yoghurt + Strawberry + Reese’s Pieces ($35) (ii) Medium Size + Raspberry Yoghurt (yes, it’s white in color!) + Blueberry + Oreo Cookies ($35) The toppings are fresh. Strawberries are sweet, not too sour. The blueberries are fresh since the texture is not soft yet, compared to Crumbs, the fruits are better than others. The Reese’s Pieces and Oreo pieces are crispy, although the amount of toppings is slightly less, and unlike Yogo, it doesn’t price according to its weight. There is still a small round table at the back of this counter, which allows two people to sit there and enjoy the Yoghurt. Generally speaking, it is worth going to this shop for a try of the very milky yoghurt. It is crowded by students from the university as well as high schools, especially during lunch time. Some of the students took out the ‘stamp collection card’ of this shop, one stamp is given on every purchase, and a free Medium size yoghurt can be redeemed on ten stamps. Not only girls, but also the boys from King’s College (which is just around the corner near the shop) were attracted during lunch time. It is a bit noisy when we were there at 1:30pm. Recommended to visit, if you don't mind going to mid-levels! Milky yoghurt and fresh toppings!

Milky Cow is located in such an inconvenient spot that I thought I would never be able to come. I once said 'who will go to midlevel just to try a froyo?', and went upset about won't be able to include milky cow in my froyo race. Well, fortune came and this day I went pass Milky Cow after visiting my friend's restaurant in midlevels! Milky Cow was owned by a foreigner who lived somewhere nearby. As I went into the store, the owner greeted and chat with us casually, which made me feel like home. The side wall of the store was a mirror which made the store seemingly a lot more spaceous than most of the other froyo stores in Hong Kong, yet the number of seatings were similar. There were a lot of toppings to choose from, from fresh fruits, to chocolate, granola and cereals. From the picture you can see there were a lot of colourful ingredients, which would give the kids a hard choice for sure. My froyo was an original one with mango and granola. The froyo tasted nice with a taste of yogurt but not as sour and was only slightly sweet. The texture was tarty and smooth, the tartiness was somewhere in between Bestberry and Berrygood. The mango cubes were very fresh and sweet. The granola was very nice too. It was toasted nicely, crispy but not too dry. Went there after lunch @ Freshness burger, was full of expectations before i try it... There were 3 sizes to choose from , i picked the medium size which costs $25, and for each topping, you have to pay $5 on top, but tell you what, the portion is super tiny, because the owners are just too stingy and unfriednly, especially the old woman... the yoghurt tasted like other places like Smooch, Berrygood, Yo Ma Ma etc.... so nth much special, plus its price is not that cheap, especially when it comes to toppings that you have to pay extra, but even if you paid for it, you will only get tiny amount...not worth it... i would definitely prefer other places as they are not all too stingy in regard to toppings.... plus, the owners were really corky and unfriendly, even my bf who is a very generous guy also feels they were corky and arrogant.... anyway.... i wouldnt go back again, would rather go to smooch/berrygood/yo ma ma one more thing, they wouldnt let you try.... My second visit to this froyo joint has not disappointed me.the flavour on show today was mango and it was more creamy than tarty and froyo-like.my mum ordered a small mango froyo with blueberry and mango as toppings; I had a medium mango with golden kiwi, granola and multiple grain cheerios. The whole thing was very balanced and the froyo did not melt off too quickly which was good. After my visit to smooch yesterday I thought smooch was slightly better for it had 'smooch' (froyo plus granola and three toppings at 36HKD which is a bargin) but it's a pity that smooch doesn't have seats and it's relatively further away from home than milky cow. But apart from that these two joints are pretty similar and so if u want a quick fix for refreshment after a big supper at mid levels,do check his out and u won't be disappointed.

After a big dinner in wildfire, my friend and I was just curious to see this new restaurant. But just as we walked in, the partner (sorry I don't know how to call them) welcomed us warmly and introduced their frozen yogurt in two flavors * three sizes * ~ten toppings. Once he knew my friend is leaving for BJ, he said it is a big city, hahaha. The quality of food is good, natural and creamy, it would be better if it wasn't that sweet though. To be more environment friendly, i suggest glass/plastic container to be used unless for take-away. Other Ratings: Taste 3 | Environment 4 | Service 5 | Hygiene 5 | Value for Money 4

i LOVE froyos. yogurtimes my usual pick but after seeing this new joint so near to my home, i have no reason not to give it a try. the shopkeepers were very nice, especially the foreigner who speaks perfect cantonese. the lady (possibly his wife) was enthusiastic too. three sizes of froyos are available: a small costs 20HKD, medium 25 HKD and large 30 HKD. pretty reasonable, and each topping costs 5 HKD. this makes the whole froyo thing more flexible especially for greedy people like me who loves trying out different toppings. two flavours (original and raspberry) are available and i tried the raspberry before i ordered. it tasted like original at the first second but eventually the taste of fruit comes out. very interesting indeed, and the shopkeeper said they wanna 'keep the taste of the original'. true that, and its a good idea, although i still prefer something more 'thoroughly' fruitful, for if you order a swirl the original will def 'sink' the fruit-flavored half. i ordered a medium...swirl? and it tasted like an original. then i added two toppings of golden kiwi and granola. there was no mochi which was a disappointment. the oreo pieces (not crumbs) looked tempting but oh well... i handed over 35 HKD and sat at the corner. not too quiet tho as people keep walking in and out. the yogurt was really nice but melted off a bit too quickly; it went really well with the granola. golden kiwi was sweet; the whole thing was pretty balanced. when compared its more like yogo, yomama and berrygood in terms of texture and taste. yogurtime's more sour, tarty and icy; good if you love eating yogurt. crumbs' the creamiest of all. and oh yes i got a card for stamp chops. ten chops and you get a medium froyo for free. really tempting - and i think i can claim one really soon cause i will def come around often because its just sooo near.
