I came here for a pre birthday dinner. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant and the food was just amazing! I would say the dishes are on the bigger side if you think of tapas style but I'm not complaining. My favorite was the scallop ceviche, King crab salad & chorizo with crispy potatoes. I would definitely come back to try other dishes!

Not really any special occasion for me to go for a nice restaurant like FOFO by el willy, but I went there with friend's recommodation. It is not very easy to find the right building but there was a long queue in front of the building and i've got no idea what they were waiting for... Anyway, getting to the top floor of the building, here comes the Fofo by el willy. It is a nice little place with warm decoration. Lighting wasn't too bright and very cozy with some shinning night view of the central Midlevels.
followed by some tapas
What's more.. I forgot my mobile at the restaurant.. and i got it back the next day and they still remember me!!

With a party of four, we went for lunch at Fofo, and it was such a good experience that we'll definitely be back. We all had the brunch menu, which consists of a selection of appetizers, one tapa per person, a paella that two people are sharing, and a chocolate dessert. It was a bit odd that the waiter started out by asking us if we wanted some cava (sparkly) to start (which we did) because the menu actually included a glass of cava per person - so we had two. The cava came with a kind of bruschetta, just that it was not tomatoes but grated green papaya, maybe with a little tomato, and some olives on the side, which were both pretty good. All of the appetizers were excellent; bite-size pieces of different things, all beautifully presented and thoughtfully combined. The one I liked least were the ham croquettes, simply because they were a bit bland in comparison to the other, somewhat more color- ad flavorful things. For tapas, we had the slow-cooked octopus, which was delicious, combined with potatoes; the lamb loin, which was tender and juicy; the marinated beef skewers accompanied by some really nice hummus; and pork with black truffles - wonderful stuff! We were actually quite full when the paella came. We had picked the seafood and the black squid ink paellas; both were very tasty, but both had decidedly too few things inside. On top of both were a few mussels and a dollop of aioli mayonnaise, and in there a handful of pieces of bell pepper, and I even found an occasional bit of squid, but overall, there was not enough *in* the paella to make it really exciting. Unfortunately, the dessert included in the menu could not be substituted by another one. It was churro, again, for share among two persons; sticks of fried dough that you dip in melted chocolate, and some very good vanilla ice cream on the side. Nice, but not too exciting. I ordered the yuzu mousse in addition, and it was simply delicious, really flavorful and smooth and refreshing. The wine selection on the menu was good; quite varied, and lots to choose from. Even our wine connoisseur was satisfied. The place itself is beautiful - on the 20th floor, the restaurant overlooks part of Central and onto the mountains, toward HK Park, so there's lots to look at outside. Inside, the decoration looks more Scandinavian due to the white furnishings. Combined with an eager use of air condition, it felt cold in more than one regard (and no, they did not turn down the air con when we asked for it). The restaurant filled up rather quickly, and while the music was initially rather loud, in the end the noise by customers completely drowned out the music. It was by no means noisy, though. The restaurant also has a terrace, one floor up, but they only open it at 6pm, and we were not allowed to sit out there with drinks after our meal. We were allowed to go there to smoke (and take pictures), but they would not offer service there. Overall, we all liked the food, which was quite wonderful (both in terms of taste and presentation); the selection, and the location. We disliked the overuse of air conditioning, and we found that the waiter should have told us that one glass of sparkly was included rather than letting us have two. Staff was otherwise nice and helpful, though, and not overbearing.
Supplementary Information: No lunch menu on Saturdays; it's either a la carte or brunch.Terrace only opens at 6pm. Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

Restaurant by Willy is famous first in Shanghai, and then was introduced in Lan Kwai Fong Hong Kong. The décor is very modern and the floor-to-ceiling window and the stark white interior will enchant you. However, I don’t understand why the staffs have to speak to me in English when they can’t even get my name right to put me in the reserved table, end of the day, she thought I was a walked in. Funny huh! Cuisine: Spanish Food rating: 5/10* Service: 5/10 Ambiance: 6/10 Price: HK$200 pax * Food Rating: 6/10 is equivalent to 1 Michelin star, 8/10 to two Michelin stars, and 9/10 or 10/10 to three Michelin stars
On the House
The duck ham went very well with the manchego, it was a nice simple salad, very Spanish tapas alike. However, the salad base was somehow rubbish; it looked like all salad use the same base.
4/10
The crab tasted like tined crab, can’t really taste the herb in the dressing. A typical salad round the corner, nothing to special.
2/10
It was nicely present, loved the powerful taste, the pork was perfectly marinated. It did have a wow factor, but then, are you kidding me that you over cooked a lberico pork? And you called yourself an award winning restaurants.
5/10
A very standard seafood rice. The rice was cooked to perfection, but sauce was a wee bit too tasteless. Seafood were probably frozen, totally wasn’t expecting that from a fine dining restaurant.
3/10

We came here on a busy Wednesday night for our anniversary. Outside there were dozens of people waiting to get into some club in the same building. Luckily, Fofo's wasn't that crowded, but it was still busy-- reservations are recommended. We had the special tapas menu, "A Taste of Spain," which is $438/ person + 10% service charge (min two people). I'd recommend it as you get a lot of different dishes, and it's no small amount of food. Some quick notes: Iberico ham on toast: tasty enough ham. A little dry, but the toast had tomato paste on it. 7/10 Fois gras on toast: not the pan fried thing advertised elsewhere in the menu and seen in some pictures here. Just the cold pate. My first time eating fois gras... ok, I guess? 7/10 Lobster salad on toast: I liked it. Meaty and cool, not overly mayonnaise-y. Flavorful. Robust. 8/10 Iberico ham croquettes: This is what it says on the menu, but I'm pretty sure my croquettes had only cheese in them. No sign of ham anywhere. They were like... fancy mozzarella sticks. 7/10 Scallop ceviche: on a bed of avocado paste, topped with fried shallots. Crispy, citrusy, creamy. We loved it. 10/10 Stuffed mushroom: I thought the mushrooms themselves were well-cooked, nicely firm, and flavorful. Their stuffing was mushy and a little off-tasting. 6/10 Cuttlefish "noodles" carbonara: the "noodles" are made out of cuttlefish. The were mostly tender, but obviously not quite the texture of real noodles. The cream sauce was middling, but at least not overly bacony. What is with Hong Kongers and carbonara? 7/10 Grilled lamb loin w/ goat cheese: the lamb was utterly fantastic. Tender, cooked to perfection, excellently seasoned, and the goat cheese only helped with its tangy contrast. 10/10 Marinated beef skewers w/ hummus: I wasn't a particular fan. Apparently they're traditional? I thought they were forgettable. 6/10 King prawn juicy rice w/ artichokes, peas and mushrooms: There was only one prawn (but he was pretty big). Cooked firmer than I like my prawns typically, but there was something really right about the texture and flavor in this context. The rice was pretty forgettable, but I will say the peas were nice and firm, just like I like 'em. 8/10 Iberico pork rice with black truffle and manchego: I can't say I remember this dish all that well. There was only one truffle and my wife got it. The Iberico pork I suppose was the same as all the other Iberico stuff we had. 7/10 Dessert: churros, cake, and creme brulee: I can't say I had much room for dessert when it came. I had a little bit of all the desserts and they were all pretty decent. I think the churros were the best. 7/10 Red sangria: I thought it was more alcoholic but not as refreshing as some sangria I've had. So plusses and minuses. 8/10? All in all, I thought the food was great. While most of the dishes didn't blow me away, having a variety of good, solid dishes is better in my mind than having something slightly better with no variety. Additionally, some of the dishes really impressed me, in particular the scallop ceviche, grilled lamb loin, and the king prawn (though I was indifferent toward the rice it came with). The view in the restaurant was great (it's on the top floor of a 20 floor building), the decor was upscale without being pretentious, the service was mostly excellent (for a while they forgot to refill our sangria, but it wasn't a particularly long time), and the "vibe" at the place was "fun." At the end of our meal the chef came out to chat; I never particularly enjoy such things, but I do appreciate the concern it shows on behalf of the customers. My wife and I jointly decided that this was the best place we'd been to in Hong Kong so far. 9/10 Recommended Dish(es):

Fofo by el Willy - contemporary Spanish food. My first visit was last year for the Spanish National Day Menu; and since then, I came back from time to time for lunches (fuel for the long day at work)~ The power of social networking website. The (then) birthday girl spotted this gem (with very white and chic decoration) on my facebook and requested our little "party" to be held there for her day. I rang up the restaurant without delay and secured a table. Fofo had a very "clean & clear" ambiance with the main colour tone as white. The dinner was in mid-November (yes, delay in posting this review ><) but Christmas decoration was already out (Christmas decoration was never too early for me)! I loved the little white penguins here and there lined up around the restaurant (and of course the white boars); and most importantly, some with little christmas hats! Though I must confess I failed to see the link between peguins (and boars) with fofo Service was just okay, expected it to be better with the price we paid. At times, we had to gently remind the waiters to refill our drinks (both sangria and water). Now - food! We ordered a jar of PINK sangria to share. I was used to traditional (red) sangria and the "white-type" which was often served in other restaurants. But PINK was certainly an exotic twist, and we enjoyed drinking it (as well as looking at the sexy pink colour Promptly after ordering, we were served with assorted olives and toasted tomato bread as "nibbles". "Toasted" tomato bread did not feel very "toasted" at all. The bread could be warmer and crispier (in other words, it was cold and hard), but the tomato puree spread was fair. "Paletilla" Iberico ham shoulder "Iberselect" with toasted tomato bread
It came with the "toasted" tomato bread; appeared to be the exact same kind served earlier as "nibbles". I did not really care though. The ham deserved to be enjoyed on its own. I would skip the tomato bread. Fried croquettes of Iberico ham aged 36 months
Served super hot (beware, risk of a burnt tongue). I took a small bite and hot steam oozed out; to be precise, hot steam with the aroma of iberico ham!! "Coca de recapte" - Crispy bread with tomato, porcini, iberico ham, manchego, arugula
"Coca de recapte"~ = pizza? :P
Well well well, I tasted it and confirmed "yes, pizza". Efforts was definitely made for the presentation (note the long black gravy line by the side). It did not taste bad at all, and of course, it could not have gone wrong when they added iberico ham. Iberico ham is kind of like the perfect little black dress which a girl has to own in her wardrobe; mix and match, never out of season, goes well with everything! I wished I was able to taste the work that manchego (cheese made from sheep milk) did to the pizza, but nothing caught my senses. =( Organic eggs cooked at 62 degrees in crispy potatoes & onions "nest" with foie gras & truffle
There was certainly a reason that it was a "guilty pleasure". After another 2 servings, it really felt a bit too much Oh so guilty.. (but I will still re-order it next time) Beef Cheek with banana & passion fruit crispy roll
Grilled baby lamb rack with "samfaina" roasted peppers & eggplant
Crispy suckling pig with potato & mojo picon
Crispy suckling pig~ so so
"Arroz Negro" - cuttlefish & squid ink juicy rice
This was VERY TASTY (some might find it a bit TOO tasty since it was edging towards salty lol; I felt that the chef was keen to enhance the flavour too much). The amount of ink sauce was just right, each and every piece of rice absorbed the essence and was in dark black. Texture good, not too soft - justified to be called "black paella" and not just black "rice". Bits and pieces of squid/cuttlefish in the rice (sorry, I was unable to distinguish which was which and whether both were present); amount not the most generous but I was not fussed (too full by then). We were then served with a cake I bought elsewhere - NO CAKE CHARGE. Together with champagne my friend C brought - Corkage $250. Overall, a very pleasant night! =D Fofo has a set lunch menu which changes every month (I believe). I would recommend to skip the set lunch though and order say 2/3 tapas and 1 rice to share. The set lunch does not do the restaurant justice. Also worth noting that Fofo has a rooftop terrace for drinks! Not a big area, and not with the most romantic view; but it is always a good place to chill before or after dinner! =) Other Ratings: Taste 4 | Environment 4 | Service 4 | Hygiene 5 | Value for Money 3

This is my second time coming to Fofo's. It was my sister's bday and I decided to treat her to dinner here as the last time I was here I quite enjoyed the food. The atomosphere is nice with the all white decor and the sangria is one of the best I have tried in HK. I started off dinner by ordering sangria which was very refreshing.

Date Dined: Monday 29th August 2011- 6.30pm Intro:spanish tapas to me seems EXPENSIVE and SMALL portion, so has never been one of my top cuisine. but in london, there has a been a trend for comtemporary tapas, which i love. The food is much more choice and it atste better, in my opionion. so after searching, I wanted to come to FoFo by el willy for so long. anf yes, spanish tapas is seen to be xpenisive for such a small portion and for a chinese perception, we like our food cheap and HUGE portion. So let see if ordering 5 tapas and a drink will fill this chinese person up. "Tapas (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈtapas]) is the name of a wide variety of appetizers, or snacks, in Spanish cuisine. They may be cold (such as mixed olives and cheese) or warm (such as chopitos, which are battered, fried baby squid). In select bars in Spain, The serving of tapas is designed to encourage conversation because people are not so focused upon eating an entire meal that is set before them " WIKIPEDIA SO EAT SMALL, TALK MORE!!!!!!! is the art of tapas! Ordered Fried croquettes of iberian ham of 36months, $98 Crispy suckling pig on potatoes with mojo picon sauce, $115 Pan fried Foie gras with truffle and confit onion, #98 Spanish omellete with with poatoes &onions $60 Organic eggs cooked at 62 degree in crispy potatoes and onion nest with chorizio $110 Drinks- Pink sangria (jar) $380
It became soggy in the end as the crispy potatoes has soaked up the egg mixture. So our kind waitress did advise us to eat it warm.
Service: we were served by a waitress who was superb. i can't say perfect as there was still room for improvement, like maybe try smiling bit more, but she was good enough/ Even when we took a long time to order food, she recommended us some dishes. Our tables was quite small, so our dishes did not all fit on our tables, she asked if we would like the unfinshed dish be put onto a smaller dish. Our sangria was refilled very often too. Like I said, they paid attention to us but would have been better if more of a smile. everybody likes to see a happy face. After the bill, I realize there is a comment card slipped inside. I like places who consider their costumers comments to be valuable. so i decided to write my comment , but OH NO, there was no pen.
menu- suckling pig is the signature dish
the Foie gras was my favourite. i wished I have never ordered the croquette which was badly made, I would have ordered two paltes of the Foie gras. it was warm, creamy on a crispy piece of toast. Yum. i highly recommend. as there are a few hits and missed, I did not order dessert as I did not want to disappoint myself anymore. the place is on 20th floor above beijing club at M88 in LKF. Not high class, but not too cheap. casual dress will be fine. TBH there is one thing i really dont like about thsi place is, the waiters and waitress seldomly group together chatting. That is not very professional. And soemtimes two of them would stand right next to me so i can clearly hear what they are discussing about which also not evry appropriate. To make sure your service is top notch i think they need to improve on this and look abit more professional. Overall nice place in Hk as not many Comtemporary spanish tapas place in Hk. Price isnt outrageous nor cheap but good if you are coming with few friends for a chat to eat and drink. But do however considr it is Mitchelin star rated!

'FOFO by El Willy - contemporary Spanish food' Much needed pampering after one month without life. Well - that is an exaggeration. I did have a life. Just that my gastronomical journeys were somewhat suspended. They resume today. I arrived a little before 8pm and the receptionist seated me on the right of the entrance. I waited for 15 minutes. I called D who should have arrived. D picked up. 'I'm at Fofo already.' 'Why...can't I see you?' 'Okay you probably are on the other side of the restaurant..' At this time a waiter appears and apologizes. Right. Nevermind. I was not grumpy. Anything went. Atmosphere: Dim lights. Quite intimate and possibly romantic. There is some creative element to the chandeliers - probably the owner's mischief - penguins perched on top of each lampshade, peering at diners. But there will be no bombs.
Good, excluding the initial confusion. The waitress serving us made an effort to answer our queries. Attentive, but not too intrusive. Is it normal for waiters/waitresses to have mini gatherings at the bar while at work. Food:
The collagen literally melts in your mouth but the beefy flavour didn't come through strong enough. The sauce was very thick but again, a bit bland. Not sure whether it was a matter of salt or time. But the spring roll was delightful The skin was true to its name - very crisp - deep fried rather than barbequed? The meat was tender, and tastier than the beef cheek. I would definitely go back for this dish. The suckling pig sat on a bed of potato, which was slightly spicy. The only drawback is that the crisp skin, being deep fried, was oily - you can feel the oil coating your palate in the process of mastication. Hm. Cannot have too much. And mojo picon fancy as it sounds is nothing more than spicy sauce. Mojo = sauce in spanish. And in this case, a red pepper sauce. Thanks google.
2 other dishes we ordered that I did not try:
Conclusion: A highly enjoyable experience because of good company, conversation and food. I had nothing to worry about, at least, not for the evening. Felt too full afterwards and walked home. Satisfied, and very happy. Fofo is not a 開飯之選 because of the price, and I believe too much of a good thing sometimes produces an opposite effect. So, once in a while, for special occasions only. This is definitely one of the top 10 restaurants in Hong Kong. The food is incredibly good, try the barbecued pork, the foie gras, the garlic shrimp and the lobster and shrimp cake. For dessert, the churros are delicious, even an expert will notice they are extremely well done. The Cava is great, not too expensive. The service is also 10/10. I want to try more tapas next time, although the lobster paella also looks appealing. Recommended Dish(es):

This was our second visit. The first was a Saturday lunch and the dishes were interesting enough and tasty enough for a re-visit at dinner. Unfortunately, apart from looks, the food tasted really poor. There were one or two exceptions, but even those were mediocre at best. The roast suckling pig is one of their signature dishes. The pieces were stringy and dry. Their juicy lobster rice was better than the other dishes but just uninspiring. I don't know why there was such a big difference between the two visits, but Hong Kong does need creative fusion restaurants that can turn out fine creations. Hope they will improve in the near future. Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

I have been to FoFo three times now and I am really puzzled about why some of the reviews here are so critical. The only thing I find offensive is the bill: HK$5,800 for 5 people including 2 bottles of Rioja. Let's forget this and move one to the food. Or rather, let's stick to the wine actually. It is one of the few places in Hong Kong where you can find a decent Spanish wine on the menu. We had two bottles of the Vega Sicilia "Alion" (Tempranillo); let's be simple in the description: it is a heavy red and it will certainly stain your lips by the end of the meal. It is however a great choice for what is to come. The real attraction is the food. We were a pretty picky group: 2 were born in South America and three of us have lived in Spain for extended periods of time. What we figured is that FoFo does not make the kind of food you find on the Ramblas in Barcelona. It is not authentic. It is not really Spanish food though it has a lot of Spanish ingredients. But it is very good and can be quite inspired in many ways. We started with a very good Slow cooked foie gras with apple & mixed berries compote. The two jams do not mix very well but try them one after the other. The Saute wild mushroom with garlic are good but forgettable. The Grilled baby lamb rack with smoked eggplant & yogurt sauce were the favorite for several at the table. My personal favorite were the Crispy suckling pig with potato and mojo picon and the Mushroom and Iberico ham rice with hazelnut oil. We had a full portion of the latter and cleaned it up thoroughly. We finished with the Cheese platter (fine) and the Churos (really tasty if you grew up on it). So let's summarize. Certainly too expensive but the food is a delight. It will clog your arteries but enough red wine will help in alleviating that issue. The fattiest dishes are the best. I will definitely be back though not too often because neither by banker nor my doctor would allow me... Recommended Dish(es):

Ms A Chan (Non-member) | This was the second time that I went to this restaurant. In my first experience, i found the food of good quality and therefore I went there again with my husband. However, I had a very bad experience this time and this will make me decide NOT to visit this restaurant again. We ordered the set lunch wihch included the soup, main course, drink and dessert. When the waiter delivered the soup to our table, the waiter was so careless that he dropped the plate and poured the soup to my husband's body. My husband's shirt, pants and jacket got wet. My husband was very angry (and I think any other persons will be angry too under this situation) and he asked for the manager. The manager did apologise, but he was saying things like "what can we do? we don't have extra shirt for you, maybe you can send the clothes for cleaning and we pay for that...." My husband responded that this would be very inconvenient as we need to bring back the receipt ....Finally, he agreed that he could give us a free lunch as compensation. We then sat there, continued our lunch with dissatisfaction. And I continued to spot the oily stains on my husband shirt, gave him wet tissues to clean up........the whole lunch was so boring as we had nothing to talk about except this unfortunate event!! Finally we had finished our meal and decided to leave. At the moment when we were about to leave, the manager suddenly said to my husband that he would only waive my husband's set lunch but not mine! that means he was asking me to pay for my part!! My god....this made me extremely angry. I immediately told him that I was very dissatisifed with his service. This is a mid-tier restaurant which charges $238 for lunch which is not cheap at all. Although they are not hotel standard restaurants, I don't expect that their service and their attitudes can be that bad!! We did not enjoy the lunch at all, but they didn't think that they had done sth wrong. They think that it is a very big compensation for giving us a free lunch!! He never thinks about the inconveninec that he gave us. That my husband needed to wear that oily stained shirt the whole day, needed to send the clothes for drying cleaning.....etc. The service that this restaurant delivered was extremely lousy. They won't improve as they have a restaurant manager who has this kind of attitude!! We wil definately not visit this restaurant again. I heard this place was very good when it was opened, and the food shows it is indeed very good. However, for some reasons, it was not full on Monday lunch hour. Quite strange indeed. First came the bread:
When we ordered, we asked the waiter if the portions are large and here's his answer: "for men, it's not enough but for women, it's a bit too much". Hmmm....... we ordered 2 course only. Next came the appetizers:
Both were good. But the main course were very very good:
And I agree with the waiter. The portions were a bit too much for females. Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)
