OK, first things first, this isn't the best Vietnamese sandwich shop in HK. I won't tell you what is-- use your Google-Fu. This is the fast-food equivalent of a Vietnamese sandwich. (a) it's fast and (b) ... it's Vietnamese. If you're in the area and want a Vietnamese sandwich, you can't go wrong here. It's fresh and tasty, and served up quick. The 'baguette' is the worst part-- it tastes like a white bread bun from Quizno's (if you know what that is). The veggies are fresh, crispy, and a little bit pickled. The meat is tasty but boring for its comparison class-- I ordered the 'traditional' sandwich and I'm pretty sure I didn't get all my meat sensations. Where's the pate? Maybe it was there, but if it was, it doesn't stand out.I've been to other places around with a more complex flavor-- but hey, when it's lunch and this is the place that's close-- go here. You are not going to find a 'western' sandwich in the vicinity (don't be fooled!), and this place is tasty, tasty, tasty. 7/10

This review is specifically of the tofu (vegetarian) bahn mi. I ordered it to go, and service was quick and polite. While I can't speak to the other bahn mi, I found the tofu bahn mi to be very average. The bread was crusty and toasted, which I liked very much. But the vegetables were limp and tasteless, while the tofu was just the opposite--waaaaaaay too peppery, even for a pepper fiend like myself. I couldn't taste anything else except black pepper for the rest of the night. Though I think Bun Mee is a good and convenient concept, especially given the lack of bahn mi places in the area, I have to say that I was disappointed with the tofu bahn mi, and may not be back to try the others.

As a foodie, I'm on the lookout for delicious local spots that offer something unique and interesting. Bun Me is just that kind of place. I LOVE this place. The best Bun Me sandwiches in town! You can't believe their sandwiches are just HK$36. You just can't beat the price. The baguettes are so delicious - flaky, light, everything you want a Bun Me baguette to be. It's probably a good thing that I don't live too close otherwise, I would be there at least 3 times a week for lunch. The folks behind the counter are friendly and happy to see you. Today was my first visit, so I went with the Original Vietnamese Baguette. At HK$36.00, you can't beat it. It was delicious. The baguette itself is amazing. Lightly crisp and flaky on the outside, and soft in the middle. It's packed with pate, Vietnamese cold cuts, fresh cucumber, pickled carrot & daikon, special mayonnaise, cilantro, special sauce, onion & chilies. Eating it is a sheer delight. What's more, when your done you don't feel over-full. This will be a regular spot for me. These would be excellent to serve your guests if you were entertaining! The ingredients are fresh, delicious, popular and fills your mouth with marinated joy.

There aren't many places that offer Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) in Hong Kong and even fewer dedicated to them. Bun Me is such a place, featuring the Vietnamese baguette in a small shop with bar-style seating for 8, located just opposite Cosco Tower.I tried the Classic Vietnamese, which contains pate, Vietnamese salami and roast pork, along with the standard daikon, carrot, cucumber fillings. The sandwich was a good size and would make a filling lunch. The baguette was nicely crispy, having just been heated in the oven and the fillings were appropriate for the sandwich. I think the banh mi at TIm Kee in Jordan are better, but Bun Me is a good alternative for those not willing to make a trek out to the dark side.I wasn't that hungry this time, but next time I'll try the Combo #2 with a drink and spring rolls or chicken salad, which is a very good deal.Note: All the sandwiches are made-to-order, so if there are a few people in front of you, your order may take a few minutes, but it's well worth the wait! If you're in a hurry and there are already a number of people waiting, you might want to try somewhere else.
