I love pret a manger! not because it's "healthy" or fresh but because of the taste! I really wonder what kind of greek yogurt they use or what brand of cereals because of the high quality! Ok that day I wanted to try one of their new products so I chose the passion fruit muesli bowl also because I like their muesli more than their granola. I've never actually dined-in when eating from pret so i did. Their tables and chairs were nice, they had wi-f-i and a few magazines. So great! anyway, the muesli bowl tasted awesome as usual!

Aside from being obscenely priced (my biggest and only gripe) this place actually serves up pretty decent sandwiches. That is, if you don't mind paying $22 for half of one sandwich which means 1 slice of bread. Or perhaps baguettes are more of your thang, setting you back $18 for about 3 inches worth of bread. They do use quality ingredients and the food is fresh, but what really bothered me was witnessing the staff after hours, and just before closing throwing out whatever that was unsold from the fridge. They could either donate the food to charity organizations or sell them at a reduced price, as opposed to chucking it out. But I guess the price factor of such wastage has already been factored in which would explain $22 for 1/2 a sandwich in the first place. And trust me, you won't be full after 1/2, so you'd probably need 1 whole sandwich. They've also raised the breakfast baguette prices up from $14 to $16 mid last year. Suffice it to say, I've since turned my nose up at this place given their wasteful practices. The salads are not so great but it's really the sandwiches that one comes here for. My favourite sammy is the "all the day breakfast" but I don't plan on patronizing again as the price just isn't right. I won a couple of complimentary Pret's Hot Breakfasts some time ago. I've already tried the Rich Tomato Macaroni (sorry it's a review in Chinese : http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2072167), now I've come to try the other set, Organic Porridge. The IFC branch is similar in size to (maybe a bit smaller than) the Taikoo Place branch, but is always packed. I went just in time to catch the last tide of breakfast (I think they stop offering breakfast at 11 am) and could find a seat pretty easily. My complimentary breakfast was a Combo (original price $30) of Organic Porridge ($18 a la carte) plus a drink (filter coffee/tea/orange juice). The Pret staff would add milk to the oats in your bowl after you'd paid at the till. The porridge came with a choice of blueberry compote or honey and I chose the former. I think the porridge was pretty good as it was smooth, rich & gooey (much to do with the milk) and the oats were tender (hmm...good for some gentle bowel cleansing...). The blueberry compote provided a tinge of cute purplish colour and the right amount of sweetness. However to my suprise the coffee was just so-so as Pret coffees are usually quite up to standard. The one I had was a bit on the acidic side and perhaps a little too milky for my liking (strange, but I liked the milky porridge!). Thanks to its prime location this Pret is always busy and popular among "mobile" office workers (free Wi-fi in store), and offers a warm welcome to travellers arriving in HK too!
