The whole restaurant is full of the smell of cheese . The restaurant is nicely decorated and warm. The tables are made of wood and you will feel like you were in a 外國小屋 when you are dining there.

Service

The waiters were sort of impatient when we were ordering. The restaurant also requires each customer to order at least one dish (excluding dessert). I considered it to be unfriendly to a large group of people because the 芝士火鍋 is quite heavy. When we ordered the 農夫芝士火鍋, the waiter forgot to serve the 牛肉 which should be come with the 芝士火鍋.

Appetizer

雞肉蘑菇酥皮盒 is 雞肉蘑菇湯 in 酥皮盒(puff pastry). 雞肉蘑菇湯 is rich and creamy. The soup flows from the 酥皮盒 when we tried to cut and share the puff pastry. I like this combination.烘瑞士芝士配新薯, 酸洋蔥及酸青瓜 is so good! It must be eaten while it is hot.
肉丸芝士火鍋 (有酒精), 肉丸好淋 but the cheese a bit watery when compared with the 農夫芝士火鍋. It said it has alcohol but we cannot taste the alcohol inside. It served with bread cubes and 新薯(new potatoes). 農夫芝士火鍋 ($280 per person with beef). It served with 西蘭花(broccoli), corn, new potatoes. The beef is medium rare and quite juicy. I particularly like the combination of cheese with broccoli because the broccoli absorbed all the cheese and it is more refreshing.

磨菇芝士火鍋 (有酒精). We are quite full already but since there is minimum order, we ordered one more cheese fondue. This one is the best among the three cheese fondue we ordered. There are mushroom inside the cheese. Surprisingly, the cheese has the taste of mushroom as well. The texture of cheese is thicker compared with the other two cheese fondues.燴牛仔膝配意大利飯. The meat is very tender and juicy. The risotto is soft and full of cheese as well. I recommend this dish.朱古力火鍋 (for 2 persons). The chocolate fondue is made of 三角巧克力 so you can feel the nuts inside the chocolate. They also add mint leaves so the chocolate turns into mint chocolate after it is heated. The portion is bigger than we expected. There is a wide variety of fruits and some cheesecake. The cheesecake is soft but i cannot taste the cheese inside. Compared to the chocolate fondue outside, the fruit is at room temperature so it wont freeze the chocolate coating. The chocolate is quite rough since the nuts are inside. I like it though because it feels like homemade. Conclusion
It charges $10 per person for the water and has minimum order. I won't go there often but I think it is nice to have cheese fondue once in a while.

Not a single advise from waitresses which obvioulsy don t where to point the Alps on the map.
I can see a table of 2 ordering raclette + fondue...
Other table took a sausage with .... i don t know what .... poeple are not supposed to eat cheese there
Bad quality of "frozen" foie gras, which have nothing to do with swiss food i guess...( i was curious to taste that)
Fondue , easy dish , even that not able to do it well...
Costumer would be happy to have a smile and a simple "Thank you "!

It's been pretty cold in town lately, which to a couple of my friends can mean only one thing: hot, melted cheese. We trekked across to the Dark Side and huddled in the warm, smelly confines of the Swiss Chalet for our ritual.

I arrived very late thanks to a last-minute meeting, and the gang was already digging into their pots of fondue. I decided to go for something else tonight.

Lozärner chügeli pastetli - this is like a simple version of a vol-au-vent, filled with cubes of veal, calf's sweetbread, onions and mushrooms in a white wine cream sauce. Not exactly a salad... but something I'd been craving for.

Walliser Raclette mit häpperä - I wanted to eat "light", so I took the appetizer portion with just one serving of the delicious, melted cheese.

Sabayon mit beereli undeme schuss cassis - helloooo baaaaby.... it's been too long! I'm back in the warm embrace of one of my favorite desserts - warm sabayon. Crème de cassis, Marsala along with a pile of redcurrants, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries together with the foamy egg cream... Simply awesome.

A wonderful meal... and the whole place smelled of cheese. Gotta love that!

Attracted to this restaurant by pictures shown to me by friends.
But the two fondue fromages we ordered were far below standard compared to what we tasted in Switzerland or even the Chesa in Peninsula.
The solution in the pot was thin.
It dribbled from the bread instead of became waxy and stick on the bread.
I had to lift my plate to capture the dropping fluid for not soiling the table cloth.
It was more like a thick soup rather than melted cheese.
Several Swiss beers are available (Feldschlösschen, Appenzell) and also the apple cider Moehl but all are quite expansive. (HK$76/o,5L)
Interestingly it says in the drink list that if you don't order any drinks you will be charged for the table water served.
We order drinks, table water was not served automatically. We had to asked for water close to the end of the meal when we finished the drinks.

Celebrating a lovely day in such a sweet place.

My partner is Swiss, so we love to come back after a year. I love cheese very much, and they have an appetizer of melted cheese, soooo good

That's my favourite dish. The pork / chicken with cheese sauce, rice is also delicious. We had the Swiss Beer and....my sweet sweet TOBLERONE Chocolate. We also bought a lot cheese, and they are so nice to cut and wrap for us

The decoration is cozy, service is friendly; however, if it's full house, it can be rather noisy.

Just want to having lunch on Sat with famous Udon in this street, instead, we went to the swiss world after Udon restaurant still didn't open at 11:50 a.m., but it's surprising to us.

Although there is just 1 table being occupied when we entered, it gives me the warm feeling. Lunch menu actually is quite confused as it uses too much font size and color.

Finally, Husband chose Baked cheese ham as Appetizer, and I chose Beef broth, eating with the selected bread and smooth butter, all are just nice.

For the main course, we chose Tender Pork with fried potato in Cheese sause and Sea Trout with homemade tomato paste in cream sause, both are fresh, with good decoration and in good taste.

For the dessert, we chose Cheese Platter and Baked special fruit topped with Vanilia Movenpick ice-cream , the warm fruit is a little bit sour, it's cool to mix with cold ice-cream. But it's only a try to Cheese Platter which seldom got place to make it as dessert, somehow it may not be Chinese taste. We can't distinguish between different kind of Cheese even we tried many times with selected bread.

I think it would be a nice place to celebrate Christmas with your loved one.

Not particularly keen when my husband proposed to try this restaurant tonight. Chesa has always been one of my favourite. The price here is just half of what you would spend at Chesa. I thought the cuisine here must have been much localised. We (plus my mother) arrived at 6:40pm and managed to get a table without reservation. The house was full by 8pm.
Ordered beef carpaccio and a salad with the seasonal white asparaus as starters - big portions, no fancy stuff, the white asparaus 爽口quite 甜美; the carpaccio was fresh but 不算特別突出. Soup made with fog legs and scallops - nicely done . My husband was all excited to see the interesting drink menu and a variety of 野味 dishes as - rabbit, crocodile, deer... We had pork loin, crocodile and a cheese fudo as our main dishes. Both pork loin and crocodile were fried, surprisingly tender and 入味 . The cheese fudo is ok as what one would expect. The coffee came with petite four.
The service was good too. I walked in with prejudice but left with satisfaction.

Entrance: a chalet in Hong Kong! Wooden framed windows with inner dim-yellow lighting.
Waitresses: I think most of them are Nepalese, and a foreigner manager.
We (husband and I) ordered: Raclette (w/ potato, sour onions,...) of taster portion ; spinach cheese fondue w/ chicken, bread and veggie ; mushroom risotto with osso bucco (excellent risotto). For the drinks, I had apple juice+apple cider, husband had a glass of champagne and a bottle of swiss beer.
Before the meal, a waitress would bring along a bread basket and let the customers choose the bread to take with the butter.

The first thing I noticed when I entered this restaurant was not the strong smell of cheese, it was the interior decor. It reminded me somewhat of a traditional Alpine Ski Cottage with its wooden tables and chairs together with those old-school windows. (where is the fireplace!?) The unique Swiss styled wall fixtures gave me a very homely and cozy feeling. What this place also reminded me was my so-called ski trip a decade ago. I don't how to ski back then (or now for that matter) but I picked snowboarding to try because I was a young and restless teenage, plus it was the "hit" thing to do back then. As a result, I hurt myself pretty badly. I am all good now but I doubt I would try it ever again (both skiing and snowboarding). Maybe I can try snowmobile instead. Looks cool and fun as well! I am still young and restless by the way!!!!

My friend and I arrived at 8pm but the place was pretty empty. I guess it was because it was 1st October and there was a PRC National Day fireworks which started at 8pm as well. (More diners started to arrive around 8:45pm after the fireworks) We enjoyed the quiet environment and we took our time to check out the menu because it was rather difficult to read. Just take a look at the drinks menu (see picture below), it consisted of rainbow colors and different font sizes within the same line! The food menu was slightly better because the items were more spaced out. I ordered a Appenzeller Weizenbier (a Wheat Beer) to start with. It has a very strong yeasty taste but it was not cold enough in my opinion.

Soon after we ordered, bread was served and there were several kinds to pick from. I picked the brown one which I were not sure what kind it was; and I also picked the sourdough which I loved! It is very difficult to find sourdough in Hong Kong; Union J is another place where it serves great sourdough. It was not bad at all (both kinds)! [We asked for more bread (several rounds actually) throughout the meal because we did not want the savory cream sauce from the black mussels dish to go to waste!]

(1) Black Mussels in Cream sauce
It was good! Not just the cream sauce but the mussels were fresh as well. The mussels were cooked just right with a slight chewy texture to it. Did I mention we ordered more bread to clean up the sauce? Well, we did! The cream sauce was not overly thick or creamy but with some minced onion, the flavor was very rich and deep. Leave no creamy sauce behind !!

(2) Swiss air-dried meat specialties of ham, beef, bacon and salami, complimented with pickles
A wide selection of cold meats indeed and among them I preferred the beef because it was not something I would order usually as part of a cold meats platter. Flavors for most of them were alright, not too salty except for the salami which I had to eat with some pickles to level out the sodium content.

(3) Grilled veal sausage with onion sauce and hash brown potatoes
Swiss Rosti (Swiss Hash Brown) is one of my all time favorite dishes but not many places offer this dish in Hong Kong nowadays, maybe Chelsea? I still remember having great Rosti back in Toronto @ Le Marche - Movenpick. The presentation of the Rosti here was alright but texture wise, it was a bit loose in my opinion. Flavor wise it was fair with strong enough potato taste. The veal sausage was a delight, the meat was very soft but still got the slightly elastic / bouncy sensation to it. You can get some Swiss mustard to go with this dish to give it a different combination of flavors as well.

(4) Cheese mixture melted in dry white wine, flavored with Kirsch and herbs garnished with tomatoes and veal dumplings served with bread cubes and new potatoes
This dish was one of the key reasons for coming here on this day. The staff suggested us to go for the "medium white wine" level instead of the "full portion white wine" level because it can be quite strong and it would be easier to add more in if not enough. We picked the med level as recommended but I think a bit more would not hurt. The cheese was very well flavored and it was rich and deep especially with the addition of Kirsch. The veal dumplings were the same kind as the veal sausage we had but it was a different experience to eat with the cheese of course. I particularly loved the new potato with cheese, very nice indeed. Same with the cream sauce, we cleaned the cheese out with all the bread cubes, leave no cheese behind!

Likes:

* Black Mussels - fresh mussels and wonderful cream sauce!
* Cheese Fondue - the cheese flavor was rich and deep especially with the Kirsch
* Sourdough! - a bit warmer would be nice

Dislikes:

* Rosti - relatively loose, I like it more packed and firm
* Menu - overly colorful (makes it a bit confusing to read)

Avg. Spending: HKD 300 - 500 per person

為了慶祝紀念日,特別選了Honeymoon時去的地點-瑞士菜…
在Openrice的search engine處找到 ‘The Swiss Chalet’, 雖然好壞評語半, 但實在很想吃瑞士菜, 所以決定去試試…

Our anniversary this year is on Thursday, and we booked the table at 1930...the restaurant was not full house, and they even let us chose a seat where more private

First of all, i want to say that their service is quite ok wor, not as bad as said in the forum, they have designated a waitress to serve our table, but on and off, the manager would come over and check if we are ok, do appreciated about that...the gril (waitress) is very cheerful and helpful, we initially planned to order 3 dishes of entrees (before the fondue and main dishes), and she adviced us to cut down to 2 dishes..

For the drinks - we asked for recommendation for choices of wine, the girl recommended us to try the swiss white wine...and we took her recommendation, it's not too expensive and easy to drink

For the food:
- to start off, they would serve us with bread and home made butter (the butter is soooo creamy and delicious), i've picked two pieces of bread (you may ask for more if needed)
- Pan fried goose liver with rasberry sauce: this is one of my favourite dishes, the rasberry sauce is very tasty with rise up the taste of goose liver;
- Raclette: I think this is a MUST TRY item if you are a 'cheesey' person;
- Fondue: they are a varieties of different fondue in the menu, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic with different ingredients. We have no idea of what to get, we picked 2 kinds, and the girl adviced us to get the mushroom ones (with white wine) if we like cheese, where the red wine one is less cheesey....we ordered the mushroom ones, and we both enjoyed the fondue very much (we even asked them to re-fill the bread for us)
- Lamb chop: by this time, we were already fulled...but still, we have finished up the lamb chop, they were very tendered and cooked just right...
- Lastly, dessert time: Tiramisu, not too sweet, and it's a very good dessert to finish up the wonderful dinner...

I'm sure that we will visit this restaurant again~~~
