Excellent buffet breakfast! Smile Dec 29, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Came by for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised by the fine dining experience. The buffet breakfast was ~$180HKD/person. There was plenty of selection for breakfast. Pastries included croissants, danishes etc. On the HK style dim sum side, there was congee, HK dim sum, noodle soup etc. On the American side, there was hash browns, eggs, ham etc. On the Japanese side, there was soup, rice, grilled fish etc.

There was also an exotic side featuring cured Italian meats, stir-fried E-Fu noodles along w/ the standard yogurt, salad bar, and fruit stand.

Service throughout the entire meal was excellent. The wait staff picked up my empty plate every time I stepped away from my table and refilled my orange juice every time I took a sip. ...the Orange juice is freshly squeezed too!!!

...if it weren't for the price, I would come back everyday!

My company usually hold training workshops in Marco Polo Hotel Hong Kong. Lunch is arranged to take in Café Marco which is at the Marco Polo hotel, serving international buffet. It suits to serve 'big group' of customers!

    Environment :
    - Classy, relaxing atmosphere environment that blends well with the designer stores nearby. <For restrooms, you have to get through a designer store ! >mad

    Food and Drinks:
Cafe Marco is where food meets fashion. Its buffet menu are all healthy, relaxed, and sumptuous.smile

    Drinks
    -Many choices of fruit juices
-Iced herbal drink (buy one get one free HK$38)
    -
    Food
-For cold dishes, from chilled seafood to sushi, sashimi, a salad bar and a counter full of cheese and ham.
-For hot dishes, tons of choices:-
-Grilled ham served with barbacued sauce <Choice of English or French mustard to serve on the side>
-Rice crackers with minced pork and shrimp dip
-Soup noodles with fish balls, various meat balls
-Daily Congee < taste very, very nice>
-Beef in Massaman curry with peanuts
    -Fried noodles with seafoord
    -Steamed fish
    -Grilled lamb chop
    -Chicken in green curry
    -Prawn in red curry paste
-For desserts – the most attractive section
Several small slice of cakes, ice-cream, fruit salad,
    Fresh fruits and etc....

The challenge is always how to resist the food temptation not taking too much food during the workshops!tongue

Remarks : Free of Charge - paid by company!

Paying 190 for such food was more than a bargain. Oysters were fresh, and there were some high quality desserts. Definitely worth going even after the 25% off promotion.

    A VERY DISAPPOINTED BUFFET DINNER
Service: arrived at 6:20, not staff at RECEPTION AREA
waiting for 2 minutes, then, one staff came and served!
    FOOD
SUSHI - VERY POOR, DRY, NOT FRESH, cannot expect a long-established hotel can provide such quality SUSHI.
SOUP - SHRIMP Soup , hard to drink, like drinking starch sauce
NO FREE DRINK OUTSIDE: VERY DISAPPOINTED, however, even those cheap buffet, they provide FREE COLD and HOT Drinks outside, and customers can get what they want..... nearly $400/head , without FREE DRINK OUTSIDE??????????
    ICE CREAM: NICE to have
Actually: customers have to pay >$400/head; with coupon $320/head
My friends and I would not choose this cafe again, there are so many dinner buffet in HK with such price, but provide food at high quality!!!!!

Nice Dinner Smile Feb 24, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
It's a little birthday celebration for my father and there're 4 diners in total this time. Let's share the environment first. Actually, full-house cannot be seen on the day (Tuesday) and even there're not many guests indeed. So we're allowed choosing the seat and sofa area is our option. Space on both table and sofa are sufficient and also cozy as well. And the atmosphere is okay but quiet a bit (perhaps the area we sit does only). Also, round table may be a nice option as it's easier to assesstongue

Cuisine contains Indian and Japan apart from Cantonese and Western. Indian provides curry, fried rice and traditional nan. And Japanese dishes are soba and several types of sashimi. For the Cantonese and Western cuisine, they comprise smoked turkey, ham, salmon, grilled ham, Italian noodles, roasted seabass, lamb, chicken, Guangdong dishes, congee, etc. Regarding the seafood, there're many choices and rapid refill including lobster, oyster, shrimp, spiral shell (seafood lovers may be impressed!)

Local guests may feel so warm about the dessertbowlbowlbowl Chinese and Thai dessert can be found except the chocolate fountain, macaron, mousse cake and ice-cream such as sweet sago soup, syrup of water chestnut and glutinous rice with mango and coconut saucelollollol

Services are ideal but none of chef stays at the grilled station surprisingly.

Almost forget to tell that baked scallop stuffed with cheese is offered to each guest.

Never Again Cries Jul 21, 2009
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
To celebrate my friend's birthday, I booked a table for buffet at Cafe Marco. I went there several times before and the last time was during Christmas last year and I remember it was OK.

Since there's 25% discount coupon at Open Rice for buffet dinner, so why not give it a try.

chopstick Oysters were pre-opened, not fresh. sad
chopstick Cold dishes such as Crab legs and shrimps were good. tongue
chopstick There were sushi and 3 choices of sashimi (Tuna, Salmon & Octopus) I tried couple pieces of sushi and salmon, and they were OK.
chopstick half of the baked lobster was given by the waiter but the quality was badhuffy, not fresh and no taste at allhuffyhuffyhuffy
chopstickhot dishes such as the steam fish and pepper shrimps were not fresh.huffy

I had to go for fresh fruit after the 2nd round since there's not much to choose from.

If there's no coupon given, I don't think I would go for this buffet.sad

I will not go there again until they have a BIG improvement on the quality and variety of food.
