I was attracted to the name of this restaurant. Okapi -a giraff-like animal whose habitat is the rainforest in Africa. I was surprised that we were the only customers in the restaurant. Anyway, I longed for dining in this restaurant and I really wanted to try their food! We ordered 2 lunch sets- baked ravioli with shrimp in tomato sauce and seafood risotto. All the lunch sets came with a piece of bread, soup of the day and a cup of tea /coffee. Bread was hot and crisp Really like the way this resraurant was decorated but the food was average.

Supplementary Information: quick refill water, but not waiting for the glass hitting the table, instead non-stop asking you to put it down for her to refill for you. quite annoying while you're actually chatting.Recommended Dish(es):

Noting the numerous overall, the service was good, and the servers were attentive. This place has a dim romantic atmosphere to it which is a plus, but it quickly turned to a minus when we had difficulty reading the menu :s

My husband and I were greeted by a sulky reception and put in a stagnated table in a corner, not interesting considering it was our first time there. No one intended to ask if we liked the table. It wasnt until after finishing our appetisers did I make the complaint that no one offered to move us to a better table. The rattle of plates was loud and negative to the mood. No apologies to guests when waiter shattered a plate on the floor. Water was offered assuming we didnt want to order fizzy water. One staff being overattentive with filling the water glasses decided to do so when were sharing food so she was holding the jug above me while I was trying to fork something onto my plate. Those tables should not be there, not glamorous at all for this restaurant. The main meal was delicious but a fly landed on the mint sauce. It was removed with apologies. We finished the meal which would have been more appreciated if not for the shoddy service and the under-trained staff. There was a great lacking in lighting, and romanticism does not come just with the dark ambience. Maybe a little attention to detail in service before we go into the deeper realms of romanticism. Dine out after work with friend. The restaurant looks good and pack with people at night. It is a bit timmid which suitable for couple dating. Food: I ordered a salmon fish. It is overcooked and tasteless even with the bal sauce...I didn't enjoy it at all.. Mashed potatoes side is not fine neither. not smooth nor creamy. I even tasted it bitter. Didint touch it after one small spoon. grilled veggie underneath is unexpected good. Sadly but true, it is the best part of the main.. my friend order a set dinner pork. Nothing really good neither. the pork is hard and tough. Not much taste with it, it is a bit like family style food.. and with the Lobster bisque, it is a bit watery... the apple crumble that I ordered, however, is the highlight of the night! though it is way too hot when serving but the taste is really good! to be fair, for this price with this quality, i still think it worth going. Just think, the ambience and service are good, why the key part food cant be better? Recommended Dish(es):

I've visited Okapi 4-5 times, and it has become one of my regular lunch joints when I'm in the neighborhood. It is a well decorated restaurant with a friendly staff. The lunch menu is a terrific bargain, with sets starting at around $48 and including soup, entree, and coffee. Most of the dishes I've tried were well prepared and tasty. I particularly liked the French chicken (around $78 or so for lunch), and the Italian-style pasta dishes are also pretty decent. I didn't like the curries, which seem like an odd menu item for a Belgian restaurant. I've also tried Okapi a few times for dinner, and while it was excellent, the prices were much, much higher. My biggest complaint about Okapi is that the food is inconsistent. The first time I tried the lobster bisque, it was sublime, perhaps the finest I've had. I returned a few days later and ordered it again, but the flavor was off. I had a similar experience with the chicken pesto pasta on the lunch menu. My second biggest complaint is the music. One should not have to listen to Cindi Lauper in such dignified surroundings! Despite this, I enjoy eating here a lot and plan to return often. Recommended Dish(es):

nickelodeon (Non-member) | We had heard about the new restaurant in town that serves good pot of mussels so off we went to check it out. The place was indeed very new and nicely setup with the dark interior tone giving it a very calm and relaxed atmosphere away from the busy Tsim Sha Tsui streets. The servers were clearly trying to be attentive and polite but they obviously lacked the experience as the service was quite clumsy at times (showing us to the table immediately next to the only other occupied table on a slow night, taking away unfinished dishes, not asking for drinks before taking the food orders, etc etc) We had mussels as starters to share between the two of us, and ordered lamb and steak as the entrees. The mussels were excellent. We've tried few places around town but this by far was the best one we've had. Cream soup style was new to us, but it suited it very well too. Unfortunately the rest of the meal was very disappointing. The grilled lamb was chewy and hardly edible, and the steak which I asked to be medium-rare, turned up very well-done. When I gave a small comment on it, the chef gave us a *single* order of dessert platter for us two to share. To say the least, the sweets were very unimpressive. I think the place deserves the "OK" just for the mussels dish, but I would be cautious when exploring the menu beyond it, especially in the grill and dessert sections. after searching in openrice for new restaurant to try in TST, we have chosen this one. we ordered foie gras, mussels risotto, french chicken and chocolate molton. the dishes were well presented. the french chicken was superb, the risotto tasted great too, just that the risotto wasn't made the italian way. the restaurant manager explained they are still seeking the way to go with risotto, as women tend to like softer bites, or do it the traditional way. definitely recommended for dates or special occasions because the food isn't expensive at all, it was 568 for the two of us.

YJ (Non-member) | Went Okapi last night together with a friend of mine, the dinner was so good and people there were so nice; it surely highlighted my week despite it was only a MONDAY dinner~ Ordered Foie Gras and Endive salad as starters. The Foie Gras was so nicely made that I could not only taste the skill, but also the heart of the chef!!! Sounds crazy, but I mean it! The waitress made a nice recommendation for me to order the Pan fried Halibut while my friend picked the Roasted chicken. I love the fish very much cos it’s very juicy and it didn’t carry any offensive smell at all. My friend (who tends to be picky) appreciated the tenderness of the roasted chicken too! After all it’s a birthday celebration dinner for my friend and I am glad that this picky guy say YES finally~ Both of us did not finish the main course despite the deliciousness. This was because we were so greedy in ordering the Apple Strudel dessert which made a perfect end to our dinner. Will definitely recommend this restaurant which is of reasonable price, relaxation and beautiful ambience and friendly staff who make good dish recommendation!!: Recommended Dish(es):
