It is an attractive rest. in the western district. It draws my attention everytime I passed through. Finally, I had a chance to try it on the Mother's day. I booked on the date of mother;s day. Luckily it wasn't full. At the same time, I was thinking how come it isn't full. Does it imply they don't really do good food. Anyway, we arrived there at 8. The restaurant was small and not full. I guess this rest. can only accommodate less than 10 tables. I believe they haven't allocate the space wisely. They spent relatively large area for keeping sake. The kitchen is open. You can see chef cooking. There are only 2 chefs. One for BBQ, one for sushi. We ordered few 串燒 and the waitress recommended us the tofu salad and baked oyster with miso sauce. When we tried to order sushi, the waitress said, it would take 20 mins. Are you kidding, sushi takes 20 mins. Sushi doesn't really need to be cooked. So we gave up. At the end, I ordered 螢光魷魚 as well. Things arrived one by one. The portion is unreasonabily small. The tofu salad was a disappointment. The tofu was like 百福豆腐,You can't taste the bean cure and the texture was weird. You can straightly tell they don't tell you good quality food, when actually you paid not for that. The 串燒 s were done very salty. The chef just put too much salt when he cooked. Same happens to other dishes. It was very disappointing again. Everything came except the 螢光魷魚. I believe 螢光魷魚 is an appetizer. How could it not come even in the end of a meal. We chase the waitress. The waitress just replied us. The chef is cooking it. The fact is, it is an open kitchen. We can clearly see what are the chefs doing. And obviously the chef is not doing the squid. And the squid no need to be cook. So what she was talking was bull shit. That made us really angry and we cancelled the order and asked for the bill. To sum up, I would say, I won't come back to this rest ever again. They don't give you the food what they charge you. And the waiting was ridiculous. In the end, three of us end up in a 茶餐廳 afterwards, and my friend ordered a pork chop spaghetti and finished it. I was a bit nausea at night. Igor (Non-member) | I have been 3-4 times as it's close to where I live. Every time I come here, there's something fresh and new on the menu. I must say the services here is great and I feel very welcomed every time. The sashimi quality is very high, comparable to the ones you can have at a 5 stars hotel. However the prices are fair. I would highly recommend to try out the Assorted Sashimi which they offer if you have no idea what you like. The chef will pick the freshest catch of the day for you along with some popular stuff like salmon, scallop, etc. I enjoy eating here because of the wide varieties of food they offer...they serve sashimi, sushi, robatayaki, and Japanese specialty food. becasue in most small Japanese resturants, they will only serve 1 or 2 type only. As my parents do not eat raw fish, they can come here as well. My favourite picks are: Assorted Sashimi - Fresh and tasty. Have some rare species that are not common in the market Robatayaki Chicken Wing - The skin are grilled to crispy but the meat are tender and moist One thing I dislike here is the place is too small. Sometimes if it's busy, you will feel very crowded. I would recommend to come during week days to avoid the crowd. Recommended Dish(es):

Same experience with the first commenter! We walked pass the restaurant and had a brief look at the menu at the door. The manager highly recommended their fish soup noodles and invited us in. Sadly, we went in. Yes, it's true that the waitress smiled but only to recommend expensive dishes. Between dishes, there was at least 20 minutes wait!!! For the more expensive fish soup noodles at $98 they highly recommended, they forgot to place the order for me and thought I ordered only the sushi. So the waitress gave me a face before I reminded her she actually missed my order - not only the fish soup noodles, but also the crab roe sushi!!!! (there were only 3 groups of customers that night) Don't think she'd apologize! No, she didn't! When I opened the folder she put next to me when she gave me that face, I found my bill! Needless to say another word about the service, I think you've got the meaning of the MISSION of this restaurant!!!! I spent $250 for myself and my little child having some sushi and the fish soup noodles. 2 orders were missed, 1 finally came and 1 simply disappeared. For those that arrived the table, 20 minutes wait between them please!!!!! I will NEVER visit again for that kinda service - heartless, careless and greedy!!!! Recommended Dish(es):
Salmon sushi is nice but the fish soup noodles - any C9 can do better for probably $9.80 from a local market! Spending per head: Approximately HKD250(Dinner)

I visited this restaurant on 15 Feb 2009 for dinner, based on recommendation from Next weekly magazine. And this had been a very bad experience: Service: After sitting down for about 5 mins, we waved for a waitress to take order. There were some fish in the sushi/sashimi session of the menu that we didn't know what it was, so my wife asked the waitress what those fish were, and if they are white or pink fish. She had no clue what's in the menu, but replied by saying that "oh, the fish are quiet tasty". We then asked what’s on the board (there’s a board with today’s special next to the bar table), she said she had no clue because she’s not in charge of ‘stocking new fish’. Sensing that she had no clue of what’s in and outside of the menu, we ended up ordering the things we know: Uni, Hamachi and Mackerel. For starter we ordered the ‘raw beef’ dish that everyone here recommended. We also ordered some dish from the grill: Ginko, mini Green Pepper, Chicken Wings, Chicken stuffed in Mushroom, Grilled Oyster. Food: We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30pm, we finished ordering at 7:40pm. At 7:50pm came the ‘Raw Beef’ dish. The whole dish, including the plate, were still very severely frozen when it arrived at our table. We took a bite and realize the beef still had bits of ice in it. And because they froze it in such a hardcore manner, there were no taste to it. At 8pm came the sushi. It didn’t taste too fresh and was cut too thick. No matter, because the worse part was the plasticky bits where you can’t chew and just had to swallow. At 8:05pm came the Ginko. It tasted alright but we had to ask for more salt. Then nothing came for the next 25mins, and after we asked the waitress twice to follow up, at 8:30pm finally came the grilled little green pepper. It was very badly burnt, and had to be the worse grilled green pepper I have ever tasted. We waited for another 15mins, that’s more than 1 hour after we placed our orders, at 8:45pm, we decided to ask for the bill and leave. The bill came to $358, we paid, walked out the door disappointed, and vow to never go back. Other comments: -We were not the only table who experienced the slowness, there was a table in the corner who came before us, by the time we left they only had grilled sweet corn; -When another table complained about how slow the food came, the chef in charge of the grill came out and told them ‘next time be smart and place all your order at once’; -The table on my left ordered grilled beef tongue but never came. When they asked the waitress, she told the customer that the dish was sold out; Needless to say, we will never go there again, and will not recommend anyone to try this restaurant. Now we are going to write to Next Weekly magazine, to tell them what a stupid article they wrote. I hope they improve and become very successful, but looks like they’ll need to change all the people there first.

New discovery!!!!!!!! Finally, there's a high quality Japanese restaurant in 西環. The food here is of very high standard and taste fresh. This small cozy restaurant is modernly designed. They offer robatayaki, sashimi, and a good selection of Hot Japanese food. The robatayaki are not dry at all. The chef didn't use lots of sauce, which is good as we can taste the genuine taste of the ingredients. As I found many robatayaki in Hong Kong like the expensive Roka is using "gimmicky" sauce to mask up the unfreshness of the ingredients used. I believe that the chef must be very confident in the food quality therefore they use only simple seasoning to bring out the freshness taste of the food. The sashimi here are wonderful too. They only serve the freshest catch of the day and you can find a good selection of special fishes here. For the high quality of food offer here, the prices are not expensive at all. I highly recommend:
