豆腐花 I’ve tried this before, more than once. Yet I have never ever understood why it’s so famous. And every so often I give it another chance but it’s always the same. There’s no taste of soy beans. It’s definitely smooth – I’d give it that. But have you ever tried tofu fa that’s NOT smooth? How can tofu fa be anything OTHER than smooth? So the only thing, really, that makes a good tofu fa, is the intensity of the soy bean flavour. In this case, I’m afraid it’s… non-existent. It tastes like water to me. I even tried a syrup-free bowl, to see if this would allow the soybean flavour to be more detectable, but no – it was still tasteless. But this small shop is pretty much the most famous place in Tai Po Market, and it's dessert almost an icon of Tai Po. Am I mistaken in any way? Please enlighten me... but don't just say it's smooth. the tufu dessert is really very very smooth. just like drinking it rather than eating it. disappear in the mouth immediately. however, there is not enough soy taste. $5 a small bowl. Can only stand to eat outside the shop. OK to try once. Other Ratings: Taste 4 | Environment 2 | Service 3 | Hygiene 2 | Value for Money 3

Today , I go to Tai Po mainly for the food of 亞婆豆腐花 & 平記麵家. What's a pity that when I arrived at the Tai Po Complex , 平記 was already closed !! The waitresses were preparing food for the next day. $5 , the cheapest one that I tasted in recent years. good & upto standard not as smooth as that of 大圍亞婆豆腐花 bean flavor is ok but not as strong as that of 九龍城義香 overall , it was still good to taste 環境 & 服務 the ppl there were kind & nice very limited seats , need to stand in the middle of a street while eating
so many ppl today

Recently I heard from 陳真 that this Tofu shop is pretty good and as luck will have it, I actually had to do something personal in the nearby vicinity right after he mentioned here, so here I came and I'm glad I did! ************************** 微暖豆腐花 - Ordered warm rather than hot or cold, because I noticed them here. OH MY GOD - this is awesome!!! As soon as it arrived, I noticed something I haven't witnessed in other shops: the 豆香 part of the equation! When I say this, I actually mean, it SMELLS AROMATIC! I instantly dug into my bowl and found that the 豆味 was also quite strong here, certainly the best flavour out of every other shop I went. Next up, what about the texture, you might ask? Perfect score too! Although it was swimming in a sugar syrup soup with small hints of ginger, it was sliced beautifully and did not have the 'wavey' pattern which affects some harder tofu curds. It was really smooth and glides down the throat but still had lots of flavour. 豆漿 - Not too sweet. In this shop, the Soy Milk does carry some 豆味 but its not as strong as 廖同合, 義香,人和, 天天, etc. Certainly nowhere near 豆花開's very natural and much bolder soy flavour nor Hakata Ya in City Super. I didn't really enjoy this Soy Milk as much as I did its awesome Tofu Curd but it was definitely passable! *********************** OVERALL - this would have to be the best 豆腐花 I have had in Hong Kong by far, but I haven't tried 建興亞婆豆腐花 to compare yet! My 2nd preferred shop is still 廖同合 and they have the best Soy Drink out of all 'traditional' shops easily, but as I mentioned in that review I repetitively said and wished it had carried more beans taste, because that remained still weak though better than nothing like other places I tried! BUT HERE? ITS LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF EVERYONE ELSE.... UNBELIEVABLE!

This shop must be the most famous and best tofu you can find in Hong Kong. The must eat in Tai Po and it is at an unbeatable price of HKD 5. It is best to have it hot rather than cold. The tofu is really soft and tender. There are limited seat available, but it have unique taste if you stand outside having it with your friends. It is a really rare sceen to see so many people eating right infront of the shop. MUST TRY IN TAI PO! After hiking for almost 6 hours, I went to here to have a taste of the tofu dessert. There was nearly 10 people lining up here. Then, I joined the queue and bought 1 tofu dessert. It was hot and it was very delicious. The place inside the shop is very small. Many people stood outside the shop and ate the tofu dessert immediate. Recommended to try!!
