I never thought of entering this restaurant until my Swiss friend brought me and another local friend to TJ for the farewell dinner~ Not a big restaurant, but the environment is great~! Good music too, though the place might be a little too noisy for chats. Since there aren't other empty tables when we arrived, we're seated at the bar table. Happy Hour before 9pm I think, so the alcoholic drinks are served at a discounted price~ The three of us each ordered a frozen margarita, medium-sized. We got peach, banana and passion fruit. Honestly I tasted the banana and passion fruit ones and didn't feel the taste is that good. Peach Frozen Margarita is the best! Keep you cool and quench your thirst for the whole night and yet you won't be drunk after drinking that huge "bowl" of alcoholic drink~ Since it's a Tuesday, TJ has a promotion called Taco Tuesdays, meaning every taco costs only $10! WOW! We haven't eaten anything for dinner, so we ordered 13 tacos in total

International Student (Non-member) | My friends and I headed to Tequila Jack's because we all love Mexican food. The place was easy enough to find and the staff was quite friendly. We sat down and were very quickly waited upon. The staff brought us all menus and set our places individually. They then went around and took drink orders. It was happy hour so a bunch of us ordered mango margaritas which were all quite delicious although pathetically weak. I will warn that the pricing was a bit off. The largest size of margarita was actually more expensive than ordering the same volume of the middle size or the smallest size. Further, for $60 I was hoping to get a proper margarita..... tequila and all. As far as the food goes, the free basket of chips and salsa was delicious. The chips tasted fresh and the salsa wonderful. For our main, most of us ordered the Novo Combo which was our option of and 2 chicken, pork or beef tacos and the option of either salsa, sour cream, or guacamole. At $94 I was expecting to be blown away. When the waitress came out, the table became silent. There were literally two tacos sitting on a plate with a toothpick in them and the chosen side. Nothing else. The tacos were absolutely tiny as well. Although we found the food to be flavorful for $94 we expected to get some rice, beans, salad or something. The meal was an absolute disappointment. Every individual at the table, including our featherweight 42kg friend, had to go to the kebab place down the street from Tequila Jacks to eat their fill without spending $300 each. I found this meal disappointing and unnecessarily expensive. I would not recommend this restaurant to my friends. Recommended Dish(es):

My parents and I went to this restaurant as I had read good reviews on OpenRice (despite having only 15 reviews). However, I am very glad that I tried this place. The restaurant is surrounded by a great deal of pubs. There is also open-air seating if you prefer, but we decided to sit inside to avoid the smokers. It is very loud and noisy, mostly from the music and then on top of that, people's conversations. But I find that this is acceptable as this is a casual type of restaurant/pub. The place is very clean and has some great decorations reminiscent of Mexico. You cannot reserve seats on Tuesdays or Saturdays (because of Taco Tuesday and Steak Saturday) but there were still a lot of seats available when we arrived (around 7:15 PM). There were free tortilla chips and salsa (the first one is free, subsequent refills cost $7) that were served immediately as you sat down. The tortilla chips are great, and I believe they are freshly made since they came out tasting fresh and hot. The salsa also seems to be homemade and has a great spicy kick to it. This was the special that was on tonight, so we ordered one. It comes with steak fries, corn on the cob, roasted tomato and ketchup. We ordered the steak to come medium rare, which it did, with no problem. The steak was very tender and juicy. Very good portions of food. It is usually $168 on all days except Saturday, so coming on Saturday is a very good deal. Two tacos with a special sauce, filled with soft shell crab. The crab was done nice and crisp; they did not skimp on the filling. I'm not sure what was in the sauce but when served with the taco, it was definitely delicious. The only downside was that if I had come on a Tuesday, the tacos would be much cheaper! As we came during Happy Hour (3-9 PM), we ordered the el grande size frozen margarita for only $55. It is a 20 oz margarita, so I think it is best to share. the margarita was very nice, the only problem was that since we couldn't drink it that fast, the ice was melting quite quickly. Also, they did not rim the glass with salt, which would have enhanced the aesthetic presentation. My dad also ordered a beer, but I cannot remember which type. It must have been good, I believe, since he had two. In conclusion, Tequila Jack's is a very casual restaurant. It is not good for conversation, but it is good for the great Mexican food that is available here as well as the drinks during Happy Hour. I would highly recommend this restaurant - it is the best Mexican restaurant I've been to in Hong Kong so far. Recommended Dish(es):

Decided to come here after work, after reading an artticle aboot their Steak Saturdays in HK Magazine. $88 for 10oz. US Prime is a very sweet deal! As my friend wasnt that hungry, we decided to order the steak special as well as the add-on Mexican Soup (+$18 on Sat) and Mexican Salad (+$18 on Sat) to share. As they also have Happy Hour till 9pm, we decided to each ordered thier EL GRANDE Margarita (Mango and Strawberry) only $55 each. They also give u a warm basket of Corn Tortilla Chips with fresh spicy salsa! Chips had free refills, while the 2nd helping of the salsa was HK$7. The soup was something similar to a Russian Borsch, while the mixed salad was mixed with a bit too much thousand island type dressing. The steak on the otherhand was cooked to a perfect Medium, though a bit too salty for my taste, but otherwise very tender! Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me so not able to show the lovely steak served on a huge wooden cutting board! It also came with a grilled tomato, corn-on-the-cob and thick steak fries! The place was fully packed, hence the nose! Tequila Jack's is definitely not a place for conversations, me and my friend could barely have a conversation without yelling across the table! But definitely a place for a nice relaxing good Mexican food at great price! I cant wait to come back for Taco Tuesdays!
