One of my girlfriends recommended this restaurant because our group consisted of all “SPICY LOVERS”. I personally love SPICY food too--the spicier the better--and here, my friend told me this restaurant’s Sichuan fish in chili oil (水煮魚) is the best she’s ever had. The restaurant has a small, homey atmosphere with minimal decorations, and the tables and seating are spacious. The first thing that caught my attention as I walked in was the fragrant aroma of c...

I live in Thailand as well as HK, so love spicy food & am very accustomed to it. However, I found this restaurant to be over the top when it came to the use of chilly &/or Sichuan pepper, as well as the use of cooking oil. Perhaps that's the way genuine Sichuan is supposed to be. If that's the case, then I'm glad I've discovered this by just walking around the corner in HK, rather than by spending more time & money by travelling to the province of Sichuan. I certainly c...

We arrived around 9pm and most tables were finishing up. Our two cold starters were the noodles and the pig tripe with chilli. Both had a good kick of heat to them nicely tempered by strips of celery and cucumber. Our three mains were pig intestine with pickled pepper, mouth numbingly hot but great flavour, sichuan pepper salt shrimps which were surprisingly not at all spicy, but well cooked deep fried fresh shrimp, and the last more cooling dish was the fish with tomato which was a gen...

A cozy place offers numbingly spicy dishes. The 2 cold dishes we ordered were Cold Noodles 四川涼麵 and Mouth-Watering Chicken 口水雞. The noodles were alright, not spicy enough. The chicken was a bit dried but the sauce was very delicious, slightly spicy and sweet. I actually added the sauce to my bowl of cold noodles, nice! The Fish Filets in Hot Chili Oil 水煮魚 was very nice, the fish was really smooth and tender. The dish looked spicer than it tasted. T...

I've been to this restaurant over five times and every time the food was very good. On two occasions, the food was exceptional. The best dishes that i've had there were the ma po tofu, fried chilli shrimp, chilli perserved eggs, and water cooked beef/fish. The only dish that I don't like at this restaurant is their four season beans. The complementary vegetable is also very good. The service is very good and friendly. The decor is not that fancy but also not like a food stall. ...

For 2 persons, you can order 2 cold dishes and 3 main dishes. We had 酸辣茄子 (eggplants) and 四川涼麵 (cold noodles). The eggplants were steamed which was healthy, with a not too sour nor spicy sauce on top, but it was a good start for the meal. They had sold out of cold noodles by the time we ordered it, but the owner was so nice she agreed to make a dish for us from scratch, and it was soooo worth the wait! The noodles were thin, cooked to perfection in texture, and the flavo...

There were four of us, which means we get to choose three starters and four main dishes as part of our set. We asked them to tone down the spice, since a couple of us didn't think we could handle it otherwise... Spicy Sichuan cold noodle (四川涼麵) - we actually ordered this first and it gave us a good start. It's the usual type of tossed noodle with spices, and it was pretty solid. The kitchen did a good job toning down the spices and my tongue was still with me after a small b...

Have a very nice Sichuan dinner with a big group of friends. This is the fourth time I have been to this place. It is still my top pick for sichuan restaurant. The best thing about this restaurant is that the spiciness are always just right and well-balanced the ingredients. lol Best dishes out of our 12 ppl meals are: 川椒皮蛋 - the garlic and chilies matched perfectly with the preserved eggs 水煮魚 - the fish is very soft and the best are the glass noodles at the bottom. Soake...

4 times in 6 months, that's gotta be something, right? The Pictures shown here may be overwhelming. But I can assure you, it's not as good as it looks. It's better. I specifically waited until now to write about this place, simply because I forgot about it, put the pictures aside, knowing that eventually I'll go again, then I'll have more pictures, and so on. In the past 6 months since its opening, I have been to 渝川菜館 for 4 times. And just as you think I was crazy, I inte...

Situated on the same road as Sijie, and again featuring private-kitchen style Sichuan food, it is natural for food hunters to compare the 2 joints. Overall, I think I would cast my vote for this one smile Firstly, the setting is better - definitely more sophisticated as compared with that of Sijie; "cleaner and brighter" would be my comment. Although the place is smaller than Sijie, the environment was cosy and converyed a "home" feeling for its customers. Secondly, the servi...
