I went there with my girl to enjoy a little lunch. Not much of any great expectation really. Cut it short, I returned the main course(chicken and pasta) to them with 70% untouch. Actually, I can eat it. Half of the chicken stink and the pasta was so hard and my girl just can't eat it. Well, by collecting the plates, the waitress do not border to ask what is wrong with the food. But instead asked me if I want coffee or desert. I ordered desert for my girl which ended up quite tasty. But I will not come back to that restaurant again. Not for a long time. First of all this was the face we had after we left the restaurant so basically you get the idea of how bad it was ---> Services Services were not the best since it looks like the restaurant wants to aim to be a more high end fine dinning place but I think it definitely needs to try 10 times harder with those "Cha Chan Tang" quality services it's not going to please a lot of high end customers is it? Food Okay first of all I must give clapping hands to the efficiency it delivers your food to your table right after you've ordered. I think it was 10 mins after we've ordered our food and to our surprise the food was served right away, faster then the food you get at good old Mc Donald’s, but it did make us think....did they honestly just freaking microwave our food that was already made? To assure this the taste answered it. For starters we ordered a "Wild Mushroom Soup" & "Pan Fried Foie Gras". The soup was quiet nice but the Foie Gras was over cooked and tasteless and the part I'm most pissed off about is that it did not add any sort of sweet sides to bring out the rich flavor of the delicate treat. Instead they added some sort of crazy rice looking beans or watever...no taste at all and I have no idea why they added that because it did not contribute to the dish in any way..!!! For the main course we ordered "Waygu Sirloin" & "Corn Fed Chicken" Oh by the way we wanted to order "John Dory Fish with Scallops" but they were out of stock...it seems like this restaurant has everything out of stock and I wonder why a lot of people gave it such good ratings on here..maybe they ran out of all the good food on the menu and unfortunately we were left with all the crappy tasting dishes on the menu. We asked for the Waygu Sirloin to be cooked medium rare and they gave us a freaking over cooked steak!! SUPER PISSED AND YOUR LIKE CHEWING ON A PIECE OF GUM. At the end of our meal one of the managers asked how the food was...immediately we wanted to just shout out "HORRIIBLE" but of course you have to be a bit more nicer and wait to return home and write XXXX about them afterwards. Any wayz the manager heard our feedback that the food weren’t so great so he offered some deserts or tea or watever to compensate our unsatisfied tongues....but we refused to receive any sort of compensations because we figured that even if they gave us more food it's just going to taste bad as well so what Z point? To our surprise from over hearing the table next to us, they also had the same comments on the food after the manager asked them how the food was. Please just don't waste a good FRIDAY night to dine here..maybe lunch is good enough..because seems like alot of the good comments here are from lunch.. Any way if you still have to give it a try good luck..and be prepared to waste yourself a good 10-15mins to return here to write XXXX about them in the end!!!!! Recommended Dish(es):

I been to tons of restaurants, and never spend time to write any kind of comment to any restaurant, but this... Dap place I have to say, its the worst place I ever been, and such that I actually spend time 15 mins on a friday night to write something about them. We went with a group of 8 ppl celebrating my birthday.... and we end up...... Services: waitress spill water on one of my friends dress, knowing that she pours on her dess, no apologize nothing, just walked away. Another lady ask for pepper for her soup, she receive a nasty look and no pepper were deliver afterward. Never in a so call wanna be high class restaurant i been to screaming out order and asking who this belongs to. differnt wine mixing in a same glass... (same white wine I guess) Food: Soup ... Milestrone soup... water with some tomato paste and veggie water. Soup ... scallop soup... this is a fuc*ing joke... a ugly look scallop mix with white water. Steak is fair Lobster with chesse ...LOL.. Whatever... I really have nothing to recommand abt this restaurant.. except DONT FUC*ING GO THERE. Its a nightmare and indeed my worst birthday dinner experince... Recommended Dish(es):

Dinner with a lady friend. My friend as a bit late. I sat down there and wait, servers are quite attentive at first. However, it was getting busier and we lost some attention later the night. Not bad at all, as we are easy going type. Btw, the decor is quite good. comfortable and stylish. Friend came and we ordered two set dinner. I ordered a cod filet with soup, my friend order a soup, rib eye plus a set dessert. For me the filet and soup was ok, at least to the standard average. My friend said the rib eye is ok too. just the dessert was a bit disappointing. We also ordered couple glasses of the house wine, not too bad. but actually they left us no choices for the red wine by glass since the French house wine one is out of stock but havent removed on the menu..... but well, we have a discount couple so it was good to get some extra money off! Afterall, we went done 1 level to their bar area for another hour chat before go! Not many people though, and if they could change the music style and turn it down a bit then it would be much better to the style! Anyway,it was a nice day out! mimimimimi (Non-member) | I have been meaning to go to DAP for along time, just that it’s a bit of a trek from Wanchai station, through the sunny congested roads of Spring garden lane. Anyway with the coupon from Openrice, and Openrice holding an event there, this place must be good, so this was the final momentum making me go! After my first visit, I was given another discount, so I have been twice already for lunch. The first visit, I didn’t take any pictures, but the setting and furniture was relaxed European French style. The modern tables were facing the large windows with long curtains and the sun shining through, over looking some tall buildings in front of the green hills. On my first visit, I had 4 courses. Amuse: Oyster Entrée: Asparagus with Cod roe Main: Salmon Dessert: Cheesecake The oyster was fresh, and I liked the effort the chef stuck the oyster shell on the plate with sticky dough, so that it doesn’t slide about. The oyster was detached from its shell drenched in its lovely sauce, so it was easy to eat. Then came the Asparagus with salmon roe, tender asparagus with large salmon roe sprinkled on top. After the Entrée was finished, I was served the Salmon, a reasonable chunk of pink juicy salmon, and I do mean juicy, it wasn’t dry at all, very soft and supple, almost like jelly! As for dessert, the cheesecake was served with berry sauce, not too sweet, and smooth that it melts in the mouth. On my second visit, I had 4 courses which I did take pictures: Amuse: Kimamoto oyster with ponzu Entrée: Antipasti (Parma ham and melon, sautéed black mussels, Tomato and mozzarella) Soup: Chicken consommé with inaniwa and Spring onion Pasta: Orecchiette with river prawn and lobster cream sauce. The oyster was as good as the first week, but this time even better with the salmon roe. Then came the Entrée, which was fun to each, I firstly at the Parma ham and melon, soft ham with sweet melon, then I ate the tomato and mozzarella, creamy cheese with tomato, and finally the mussel, I was surprised they were fresh and soft, not the frozen ones. As for the soup, I just had to check it out, because it had noodles in it, after having the soup, I had the pasta shells with prawn and lobster sauce, there were many prawns in it, and the sauce was quite rich. Overall, I like Dap, because what is stated on the menu is what you get, and I credit the menu, because the chef/management have actually researched into it with all these fancy Japanese and French vocabs! HILTON SZE (Non-member) | We chose to stick with the a-la-carte menu. Grilled Steak quite nice! Lobster Bisque (it is served with cream foam and looked very appetizing, but apparently tasteless...) Pinot Grigio (taste was good, but not cold enough). Overall the standards are still quite good!! The service wasn't all that great... they practically had 1 person serving the entire restaurant, with 1 other just standing around, and another seeing the guests to their seats and making reservations. We sat down with the menu and nobody even asked us if we wanted a drink. After 10 minutes of nothingness, we had to wave our hand so many times before someone came. Wasn't very professional. cooler baby (Non-member) | I rarely write restaurant reviews but this time I felt that I must share my views. The grizzled shirt waiter here are unprofessional in both their appearance and work. The worst being that they avoid line of sight with you and pretend they don't see you when you call for service. Food was good taste and professional.But......... When we finished main courses and the dishes taken away (they at least have done that), none of the waiter seem to know what to do and we were left just sitting at the table. We kept asking the waiter, but he always said "It's coming" and didn't give a dam*. Instead, he gave us this strange 'look'. I was so angry. would normally expect a lot from this restaurant with its raving reputation but it was indeed a disappointment. Even though food was good I must say, service was below par. It is a shame that the level of poor service has overridden over any positives we see here and this may be the last time we visit there. Okay I was attracted to this place by the worst of methods - a billboard ad. However I needed a place to eat after my us accounting seminar at wu chung hse (hk inst of cpas office and training centre is quite out of the way...really wish their location is more assessible like cfa's hk club location). I also hace a headache and a neckcramp so trekking across wanchai to pomme de terre at sanlitun wasn't appealling. the name rang a bell and this place had a good openrice rating. I'm going to spend then what I usually do eat on my own but why not? I need to find a nice place for lunch near pp for a friend in a week anyway. when i went up there the set menu looks like good value...scallops and daily soup and angus beef/calimari/ravioli looks good...but i'm not up for ravioli tonight, not up for calimari ever and had too many steaks whilst in hunter valley over easter. sensing i had an issue with the fixed menu, the receptionist was one of the best i came across and pointed me to the a la carte menu. She recommended the beef carpaccio and the angus beef. I explained my temporary steak phobia but saw there's a pleasant salmon steak with wasabi potato mash. Sounds simple enough for my semi-sick state i was that night. in i went. The first bit peeved me off - i was given one of those still or sparkling options on water which meant water wasn't free (i forgot i can ask for iced water and see what they came up). but it seems like the other diners all have bottled water, so it's not just me. the beef carpaccio was phenomenal. It's definitely the the soy-vinegar sauce that made it work. I lopped it all up before i realised what happened. It's like taking a hit of crack - only legal. i had mixed feelings about the salmon. No one can really screw up salmon in my eyes. However, dap's salmon is...weird. It's raw in the centre, and the bernaise sauce is rather weak but i'm not tasting the salmon either. But i did taste the wasabi mash. So the dish is...well...interesting. Okay I guess I'm racking up a bill north of $300 so i wasn't keen on dessert. I dunno how filling will the creme burlee be anyway, I was too lazy to order anything more anyway. So I started eating the bread in the bread basket that I haven't touched til now. With the dill spread, the bread wasn't half bad. It wasn't bad at all – I finished the whole basket except one piece so I don't want the maitre'd doesn't ask if I need more bread again. Also just a quick word about the environment. I had a bad experience the last time I ate alone in Bonheur at Sheung Wan when the table next to me was partying, and also during my easter holiday when a big bald bastard used his Mystery Method AMOG booming voice in the confined space of a terraced restaruant. Whilst the bar downstairs in Dap was lively, upstairs was quiet enough for a romantic dinner or chat amongst friends. A very soothing experience compared to the last two experiences. The last part was the best. Yes I racked up a bill north of $300 ($328) but I got my +10% taken away by my DBS card! Sweet! That's how I probably heard of the restaurant in the first place – it's in my DBS 2009 offers pamphlet. Okay too bad by the time I've finished writing this review, my friend for lunch has locked in on Shiki. So dap will need to wait a bit longer.

Went for dinner on Sat night. I was quite surprised that it wasn't crowded, only 3 tables of couples. Overall services was very good, very attentive and quiet area. I ordered 4-course set dinner with beef cucumber roll, calm cowder soup, sirloin steak and chocolate pudding dessert. The food was nicely presented and portion was just right. Dessert was a bit weak, it was ok but nothing really great about it. Thanks for Openrice coupon and they gave a 15% coupon for next visit. Will definitely go again. The area around Hopewell Ctr seems to create a foodie cosmopolitan, with US Burger, Vietnam cuisine, Italian coffee,HK dessert, Jap Coffee already opened; whilst salad bar and German cuisine are arriving accordingly ... so here we are having the fusion Jap/Eur cuisine - DAP JP, upstairs is the restaurant whilst downstairs is a bar. Maybe it is on the upper floors, the open view is not bad even with a few residential high rise nearby. We can choose 2-/ 3-/ 4- courses set with the following options: Amuse, Entree, Soup, Main, Pasta, Dessert. My love took the 4-courses: Amuse - Oyster with Ponzu: I dunno since it is a big spoonful bite. My love does not fancy yet saying that the oyster is fresh and the bite is rich Entree - Tuna with Cucumber and Avocado : I did take a bit and the sour dressing is nice matching with the tuna cubes and cucumber Soup - Chowder Soup: many many corns, so-so Main - Salmon with asparagus and tomato: we believed that the salmon is poached, so the flesh is just medium raw and juicy I had the other 2 Pasta - Spaghetti with Menteiko and seaweed: Quite nice even it seems like an ordinary Jap pasta to me. The spaghetti is well-cooked, the texture is nice with crispy seaweed and menteiko. And the portion is appropriate. Just that it is a bit little oily to me. Dessert - Mango Cheesecake: I dun mean to take this as I misunderstood that it came with coffee *that I desperate want one* I think it is just mange cream cheese cake with soft crust, not bad. I am not a big fan of fusion. However, regarding the venue and service, it is not a bad try. And I really feel unexpectedly good about that
The overall presentation are nice, a pity tt I cant put all the pics up!

Hi guys, i would like to share my experience in Dap JP Wine & Dine in Wan Chai. The restaurant is quiet well established. The main attraction is the interior design, sofas, chairs, and the Island Bar. For this place all i can say is this is one of the Hi-class restaurant in Wan Chai area. I love western cousine, so this restaurant was exactly what i was looking for. It also have the special fusion touch of Japanese Cousine. They have different types of offers like Happy Hour from 4-9 pm buy one get one free, $268 for four course set dinner, and price starting from $88 - $128 for set lunch. The best food was cesar salad and Rack of Lamb. I really like the presentation of the cesar salad, every thing was on the side. Green Letuce, Parmason Cheese, parma ham, Crispy Green Wasabi Peas, and Coddle egg (half boiled). the server will serve and mix the items infront of the guest table so that we can tell them how much amount we would like to have. and this salad is also healthy. Another best was Rack Of Lamb (boneless). The reason why this is best because its one of the finest selected Wagyu lamb. Medium temperature was the excellent temperature for me to have this lamb. It was really juicy and the touch of Green Miso dressing, Smokey Aubergine and Spinach makes it the best choice. Well what i notice that beside the food this place is also ideal venue to make any celebration like birthday party, buisness meeting, wine tasting , and drink dance party. So if all of you guys looking for best wine & Dine in Wan Chai area, i would suggest you to try this place. It's simply GREAT.....!!!!....thx

Settings: As the restaurant...the ambiance inside DAP JP WINE & DINE is spot for me...Classically modern..the red round sofa's and white chairs are very confy.. Food: The food is exactly as the proprietors bill it, it's a modern western/Japanese concept..It's all well conceived, prepared and presented.Their 2 set dinner worth $268 is reasonably priced, plus u can bring ur own cockage. Tried the Wagyu beef carpaccio with black truffle sauce, Japanese onion and spicy ponzu for the appetizer. It was taste good especially the black truffle sauce. And for my main course I had the US Prime rib-eye steak with pumpkin tempura with black truffle sauce, it was tender and juicy. That was their daily special, so just add another $88 but it's worthy. Service staffs are very helpful and very friendy Recommended Dish(es):
