Itamae Sushi     板前壽司  

I had a craving for a sushi dinner after a whole day of walking around the malls. As I live near Tsing Yi Maritime Square, there were two choices. Itamae and Genki Sushi for the sushi bar-style Japanese restaurant. I had a bad history with Genki's unbelievably bland tasting sushi at their branch over in Kwai Fong Metroplaza.

We went for Itamae but made the mistake of choosing the peak hour. Had to wait at least 25 mins before we got seated. The servers were really slow and weren't that efficient with the cleaning of tables and the seating of customers.

Their sushis were pretty decent and we had the run-of the mill sushi and sashimis. It is interesting to note that over the years, the size of the fish and servings have been decreasing. I noticed that their fish slices are thinner now.

Overall, an alright place for dinner if you don't mind waiting for a seat.

I had a late lunch here and my order included only two items.

1. Mackerel Saury sashimi: For those who love fatty fishes, 秋刀魚 sashimi is something you don't want to miss.

2. Sushi rice on salmon roes & uni: I love having salmon roes on sushi rice, especially on cold days. So, I order this specially small portion rice. It taste nothing special but simply something I personally love.

This lunch costs less than HK$100 and absolutely a good deal in this shopping center.

It was saturday...is a raining day. I am a bit not feeling well..so I decided not going our for lunch. My mom and I ordered take away from Itamae. We order food from them quite often.
When I called the take away order, the line was engaged many times...after ten more redial, finally line is ok. They said the order take no more than 45 mins to reach my home. Maybe it was busy Sat....they are more than 80 mins...how come???

I love Salmon...it was so fresh and thick enogh.....scollop is also very nice...fresh as well.
The other is in OK level....

I would like to give u guys a suggestion....if u are really hungery...pls. order in advance at laest an hour b4 as I order many time from Tsing Yi take away from here....they never delivery your food in time....Honestly....Food is good....
