Banana yoghurt frape Smile Apr 04, 2013
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
After a long staying in hair salon,
I decided to have a delicious coffee afterward. And so I do.
It's about the after dinner dessert time & I come to angis b cafe lpg.
Searching for the dessert menu, I have found no fresh item. And suddenly, the cheerful waitress recommend me a new item: banana chocolate mosses cake. And so I tried it.
It's really tasty. In the spongy cake and smoothy chocolate mousses, you can find the tasty banana which perfectly matches with the other ingredient. The taste & scent is so matched and nice that you will not forget.
I tried the banana yoghurt frape as well. Frankly speaking, I'm not a banana fans but its really tasty. Not much sweet with strong scent of banana. If you don't hate banana, I believe you will love it.

Went here with friends and shared a dish and afternoon tea set.
The Linguini with Escargot was yummy. As was the Hot Rose Chocolate Drink. That's all for the good comments.

The HIGH TEA set was disgusting. Extremely bad. And cost ~$300. For the savory plate, the plate itself wasn't that big, but the portion still looked ridiculously small placed on there. surface area of the food was size of my finger tip. and i have really small hands. they cover the middle of the plate with some 'salad leaves'. huffy

Also, the taste of the items ranged from mediocre to barf-worthy. the creme brulee was cold and bitter.

Will try to avoid this place in the future, but if i go, i will order the Linguini with Escargot.

Lobster for dinner Smile Jul 10, 2011
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Friend got a job there and invited me for dinner. It's location is quite odd, inside their clothes shop... Meaning? Shopping while you wait for your dinner$398 for a 3-course dinner, not bad. The choice was quail, beef, lobster and something I can't remember. My friend has skin problem, so she asked for fish, the waitress was very nice and get her wish.I had lobster for main. It started w a carrot soup, portobello salad, and the main. The salad was amazing. It was weird that my lobster came w fries??!! The most happy moment is I find 10 different tea selections.. Haha, very happy ending.Sum up, it was a great eating/ shopping experience

Planned to go outing to visit the Wishing Tree in Tai Wo N.T. and good to try out this Agnes b located in Festival Walk. Haven't been here for a while and it's still nicely occupied by different categories of shops, and almost all did open during CNY holidays. Very convinient for visitorssmile

Look at the F&B list and have tried most others while only 2 people we have, it's a good choice to have Western lunch, Agnes b is the choice of the day. Have been to the IFC and Causeway Branch, time to try this out.

It's located inside the sportswear section, dim lighitng with some cool and fashionable pictures hanging on the wall. Semi-opened kitchen with a black board on top, written menu is far too small to read. Anyway, normal menu is available and we choose from the a la carte menu instead of set lunch.

Wanna have a sparking rose in such a beautiful sunny day, unfortunately, they don't have stocksad Not too bad, we choose another rose instead, freshly strawberry staste, with the red color to brighten up the CNY lunch.

Onion soup-Good, I am not an onion soup fan but out of other choices of lobster bisque, which is too heavy for lunch, I ordered this onion soup instead and it's surprisingly nice.
Swardfish tartar with green salad-Yummy! This is the first time I have swardfish tartar; tuna, salmon are quite common, and this one is something special for metongue
Linguine with clams-good enough, clams are big and fresh.

Dessert time! Their selection of sweet is always nice, high quality and my cappuccino served to wake me up from the bottle of rose. So full, and ready for my outingsmile

To most of us, Agnès b is a fashion label, makers for jewelry and fashionable bags. To be honest, I am a fan of their products; I like the fact that their designs are clean and simple (most of the time overly priced!!). I believe simplicity is the best. But I have only recently come across their restaurant franchise “agnès b. le pain grille”, and have always wanted to spend a visit. Truth be told, I have never experienced fine dinning or French cuisine before, so this was first for my friend and me, and was it great!! Out of the three restaurants, we went to the one at Kowloon Tong.

    Location, Deco and Surrounding

The restaurant is situated within the agnès b sport boutique, which is very different to any other restaurant and feel strange to see other people shopping but yet comfortable, while having dinner.

The restaurant does not only cater for your palette and stomach with their food, but also cater for your every senses. Other reviews say the restaurant is too small and cramp, I see it as cozy and very home like. Maybe it was because it was weekday and at 8pm, only a few customers were dinning, so we were able to have a 4 seats table for only 2 of us. The dim light and candle on table top created a very warm and romantic atmosphere. The deco is much more relaxed, informal but sophisticated rather then elegant and classy.

    The Menu

The menu size is reasonable and offers a wealth of selection of pasta, salad, meat dish and soup. The names of the dishes are written in French but with full English very detailed description. On the day, dinner set was offered but not very interesting, so we opted for a la carte instead.

    We ordered the followings:

Starters (Not precise name of dish)
1.Warm Chicken Salad with drizzle of vinaigrette
2.Mussel cooked in white wine sauce
    Mains
    1.Rack of Lamb
2.Grilled Black Angus Rib eye (Signature Dish)
    Desserts (Mini Patisserie)
    1.Vanille
    2.Delices

    Warm chicken salad
A selection of salad green with grilled thin slices of root vegetable and slices of chicken breast drizzled with vinaigrette. Nothing special, a very simple salad nothing could go wrong.

Mussel cooked in white wine sauce
250g mussel cooked in a very rich butter and cream white wine sauce, in my opinion it was cooked to perfection. Mussel was just cooked; flesh was still tender, moist and juicy, the sauce was rich and flavorful with help of rosemary but did not cover the fresh taste of the mussels. Very high quality and highly recommend. Option for 400g, but as a starter 250g was more then enough for 2.
Great! Mussel in White Wine Sauce

    Rack of lamb
The dish is neatly presented, the rib nicely positioned on a bed of mash potato accompanied by some vegetable, lamb gravy and decorated with drops of mint sauce and a stock of rosemary. The lamb was ordered medium, outside is nicely browned with the middle still pink and juicy with a crispy crust. Can’t exactly describe what and how it tasted, because it wasn’t mine, I only had a little bite but it was beautifully cooked.
    Rack of Lamb, Must try!!!

Grilled Black Angus Rib eye (Signature Dish)
Again the dish is neatly presented sided with French fries and leafy salad dressed with vinaigrette. The steak was cooked to medium, as ordered, with balanced seasoning and garnished with flakes of herb; it is tender with a strong taste of beef. One disappointment was that, too thin, I expected a much more satisfying chunk of steak, rather then a thin slice. Over all, satisfaction.
    Little Disappointment

    Desserts
I had cakes from Agnès b before, if you have not had them before, you have to try them, they are made to a very high standard, and you would be surprised. This time, Delices and Vanille. Vanille is a sandwich of two crispy pastries filled with custard cream, reasonable, not much excitement very ordinary. Delices in the other hand is full of surprises, the black pyramid shape stands out from the crowd even with the minimal decoration; simplicity sometime really is the best. Delices has a simple and cool looking exterior but the inside is quite the reverse, it has layers. As you bite into it, you can feel the different layers, layers of soft and hard chocolate, sponge, waffle, the hard base and the mousse like outer layer. The taste and texture stimulate every palette in your mouth and it is this mixed sensation making it extra special.

As a first timer, it was a very satisfying experience which exceeded my expectation, and sure will be back again. Although the steak did let me down a bit, but the overall experience was excellent, money well spent. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, a great location for celebrations and special occasions. Great settings, Great Food and Great companion, what more could you ask for, It was a lovely evening.

Not worth the price Cries Feb 10, 2009

Couldn't decide what to eat so went into Le Pain Grille.

    Had a relatively light dinner:

2 appetizers: Mussels were great! They were fresh and tasty. Would've tasted great regardless of whether there was sauce. The foie gras was overcooked.

1 Main dish: Ordered the lobster linguini. Very well done but would've appreciated a little more lobster meat.

Dessert: 2 pieces of cake picked from the display. Good as you would expect from Agnes b.

The reason for the "thumbs down" was not for the food or service, but rather the setting. I don't have a problem with the cafe located inside the boutique, but the sitting was not comfortable at all. Tables were very closed together (the closeness of the tables were pretty the same as tea restaurants), and the chairs were not comfortable. Given the price I would expect a better setting.

Not Bad Smile Oct 04, 2008

This time was quite a good experience compared to a year ago I came. smile

    We ordered:

chopstick French Onion Soup - Onion was very sweet, just the cheese were a bit less and not much taste. Overall is good, but to compare, Cafe de Paris one was better. tongue

chopstick Pan Seared Scallop - the appetizer. Not really think scallops are seared. Texture is ok. But the taste is good.

chopstick Tagliatelle with Asparagus and Ham - Ham was not too salty. And the texture of tagliatelle was good and the sauce matched it well.

chopstick Onglet of Beouf - Medium Rare Steak. Tasty. I specially like those sweet red onion (although I am normally hate onion). It goes well with the steak. Texture of steak is ok, except a small part was really a bit too chewy.

chopstick Ramee Amber - French beer. Was darker in colour than normal beer. And it taste thicker as well, with touch of cherry taste as well! Never tried beer have that special taste. shocked

I was going alone for lunch. Server introduced me to a cozy corner table. Patiently illustrated the today's menu to me. After I picked my dishes, my table started to be filled up with little french decor.

Server asked me if I'd like chill or warm water that I chose warm. He brought in coffee cup with warm water and refilled whenever I was almost finished (about 4-5 times).

1st a glass of mixed vege sticks including asparagus, carrot, cucumber and herbs to be served with a pretty dish of french dressing seasoned with herbs and (I guess) spinach. I couldn't stop finishing it during the meal.

Then, a little basket of 1 mini baguette and 1 wheat bread. The butter is rich and salty.

My appetizer came: crab cake with green apple slice salad (dressed with olive oil and vinegar. Nicely decor with fresh not strong taste. Good for waking up the stomach.

My main course was grilled red snapper with eggplant, Italian cucumber and salad. Fish was juicy and soft even for grill. Taste was too sweet but pleasant.

I clear up everything on my table. But since the quantity is not excessive, I ordered a light dessert : blueberries mousse with crunchy cookie as base and burnt eggwhite as a wrapping outside the mousse. I gave it a pass, but not as good as the Millefeuille that I tried at CWB shop.

It was so sweet to serve another 2 pcs of chocolate with my coffee. In conclusion, I am impressed with the service that remind me of Caprice at Four Season I went last month. The place is cozy that remind me of the stay in southern France. The food is not brilliant but acceptable in such price. With my credit card discount, it cost me $180 that afternoon.
