Came here during 5pm so not really lunch time but not dinner time either so didn't have to wait long One of my favorite dishes here are the Xiao Long Bao's (Pork Steamed dumplings) - $30 ordered 2 of these They're so hot when they arrive and you have to be very careful that you dont let the juice out of the dumpling as that the BEST part! They were so delicious Sweet & Sour Cucumber Rolls - $42 This dish was a bit too sour for me Beancurt with preserved egg - $42 This dish is served cold - the beancurd is so "smooth" and tasty Vegetarian Beancurd sheet - $48 This is deep fried and the outside layer of the beancurd is nice and crunchy La Mian noodles with double boiled chicken soup - $52 If your looking for a chewy texture noodle you should not order this. As this is quite mushy, but this is the taste of the dish. The chicken soup is delicious. Deep Fried Flour Roll - $16 per roll This is so yummy my favorite I love that its crunchy on the outside and dipped with condense milk too. The service at Crystal Jade is mediocre. Sometimes the waitress would keep walking past us when we asked to get our tea refilled. I go here for the food as its priced very decent for so many items. Recommended Dish(es):

I ordered the Dan Dan peanut noodles but the noodles came out really thick. It was hard and stuck together into one piece. When I showed the waitress she had an annoyed look and brought it to show the chef. The kitchen has a window that you can see through. The chef immediately gave me a nasty look and you can tell he was swearing at me. It's apparent they have no sense of class. Table Wait Time: 1 minute(s)

Came by for some Shanghainese food the other evening. As it was the peak dinner hour, the wait for our table was ~20 minutes. Some of the dishes we ordered included xlb, the wine chicken, the thousand layer pancake, Shanghai stir-fried noodles, pot stickers, and a red bean filled dumplling dessert. The wine chicken was very fresh, plump, and flavorful. The wine did not leave an aftertaste in my mouth. The xlbs were very well made. The skin was very thin and the dumplings contained a lot of soup. The thousand layer pancake seemed like a shredded green onion pancake... The Shanghai stir-fried noodles contained a little more cabbage than what I was looking for! ... I'll make sure to stop by again next time, when I'm in the area! ...there's another Crystal Jade @ HKG too!!!

Wanted to compare the Xiao Loong Bao here mainly, as any shop naming itself after a dish should be pretty confident of their specialty product? 蘿蔔絲酥餅 (Turnip Pastry Cake) - Great non-oily fried exterior. Internal was very hot, but the turnip has melted a bit too much to my liking and too wet. Hints of chinese ham taste. 7/10. 擔擔麵 (Dam Dam Noodle, mid-spicy) - Very good, with a thick, viscous soup and the noodles were very nicely made and cooked to perfection. The soup base was obviously the highlight, although its not authentic to Sichuan style. Had lots of ingredients - obvious ones include dried shrimps, pickle vegies, chilli, sesame, peanut, coriander, spring onion, pork fat, etc. Non-authentically good. 9/10. 紅油抄手 (Red Spicy oil Wonton) - Overcooked and skin too soft, but overall I guess acceptable? Chilli oil with garlic and coriander. Not authentic, although I like this version much better than the heavily dark soy-sauce influenced one. Wontons however could have had tastier internals and cooked better, as it is, did not mix with the chilli oil. 5.5/10 雪菜毛豆百葉 (Broad beans with Bean Curd Sheets and pickled vegies) - The 百葉 had a very strong soy taste here, unlike a lot of other places, it wasn't washed a lot at all! Overall, the 3 main ingredients in this dish together with the broth it was cooked in, did not integrate as well as it could, even though separately they all tasted great. Needs improvement, but generally acceptable and healthy. 8/10 小籠包 (Xiao Loong Bao) - Honestly, not the best I've had in HK. Din Tai Fung HK has a similar soup inside, but the meat here tasted like exactly nothing - it might as well have been chicken or fish or pork, couldn't tell. The skin was thin yet could have been better, at least its not too 'elastic, wonton like' like that of Din Tai Fung. The vinegar on the table was pre-mixed with soy sauce in my opinion. I like the Xiao Loong Bao at 又一店 at North Point slightly better, then Din Tai Fung. To be honest, none of these shop's were perfect - all had flaws. Overall - everything was clean, tasty, everything done to a good standard yet nothing was exceptional. But for the low price, ranging from $2X-$3X-$50, there can not be any complaints, its an everyday meal type of restaurant. Highly recommended. Service was actually really good, surprisingly - perhaps only at this store. In fact the food quality here is better than the Times Square Shop. Very high 3's to low 4.
