My mum and I officially turned into a pair of groupon food hunters. Whenever she got interested into a particular restaurant promoted by groupon, she would pull me in and we travel to anywhere, literally, ANYWHERE, in Hong Kong just to get a taste of food and a fun of the night. If you have been reading/are going to read my previous groupon meal experiences, you would find out that at the past I did not have quite a good memory of them. But thing seemed to change upon my visit to Double Stars, and onwards (to be post!)! I wouldn't say that my dinner here at Double Stars was amazing, but at least decent and satisfie That night, the meal was a Four courses dinner meal. A very quick and brief review of each course as follow -
along with garlic bread Typical starter for any four courses meal. Quite average. The garlic bread was quite hard (crust) and not too much of the garlic paste, but good that the soups were quite warm to begin with.
The name 'Double Stars', the sister's company of 'Strawberry forever', has long been established as chain stores around in HK. However, due to the decreasing popularity as well as the fierce dinning competition in Hong Kong, Double Stars has slowly died out and remained barely a few. It was not surprising to see that now, they have expanded their market into Mainland China, which turned out to be quite a success. I guess afterall, people in Hong Kong loved restaurants that owned an unique selling point, in which having backed up by a fame that was already created overseas. In this case, Double Stars might have lost out for more than a mile in the first place...Keep up the work Double Stars! - Y Date of Visit: Jul 12, 2011 Other Ratings: Taste 3 | Environment 3 | Service 2 | Hygiene 4 | Value for Money 4

I was passing by admiralty, try to find a better place for late lunch. It have a big screen sliding attractive dishes, menu is fine. A dresscode like manager guide me to sofa seat. I order pork chop udon and chocolate pudding which is recommended by chef on menu. Udon is fine, just a bit salty but the chocolate pudding is completely wrong combination with strawberry ice-cream, I look at the menu again. The picture is vanilla but also a statement notes down, picture only for reference. There were four staff on floor, only one working which is the one place me to sit down, others busy chatting and on the phone. The expences not worth for standard. Had to renew my license at the Transport Department and passed by this place at Admiralty. The place was all vacant and the waitress invited us in for breakfast emphasizing the selling point as no service charge. Not bad for this highly infaltionary period. So we went in for a try.
We're the only customers -- comfortable setting
We sat by the window looking at 金鐘廊
Breakfast sets were typically $25 each.
Breakfast Menu
Cutlet sole fillet set

Setting and service are better than the food. But offers a better seating option than De Coral or Fairwood. Will encore. Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

DerDer (Non-member) | Wait for 30 mins to get a table of 2 - this is common for lunch time in Admiralty. I ordered spaghetti with mushroom but it's quite salty and oily. At the end, I can't finish all. Date of Visit: Jun 08, 2009 Spending per head: Approximately HKD80 Other Ratings: Taste 2 | Environment 3 | Service 3 | Hygiene 3 | Value for Money 2

Avina (Non-member) | although I knew that was a slight late to update this in here, that was actually happened on my birthday 17th August, 2007...I worked as a summer job around this area and so that I decided to have my birthday dinner in here with my friends and family. However, I felt that is such a DISASTER ever. It is okay for the beginning, everything is fine, food is pretty alright but towards the end, when one of the waitress asked what drinks we want to have, that came up with the problem. My grandmother decided not drink anything, but the waitress was kept saying to us that we need to pay HKD$25, I mean that is fine, but no need to keep saying it, just mention it once is alright, then I don't understand why she gave me such a NASTY look, and said something like "what kind of people are they?" just at my back!!!! what? seriously WHAT? so I was saying to her, "what do you mean by that?" she didn't think she has done wrong, and seem that I am the one who has done wrong, and she kept giggling and staring at me whole way through, no apologize, I asked them that I need to see the manager, this waitress told me that, "the manager is so busy." She really gave me a feel that she didn't care about her job or whatever. Luckily I can see the manager, and asked me to forgive her. BUT definitely I am not going to this restaurant again. This kind of service pissed me off on my birthday~ No matter how nice the food is, service is horrible then is not nice for the own restaurant's image!
