I really liked the pistachio dessert on my visit I decided to go back for it.
I also had the pineapple pudding as well.

There is a jar that they proudly show people the pistachio nuts that they use.

    Pistachio dessert:
While I was there, the TV was broadcasting Neighborhood Gourmet which also happened to feature their pistachio dessert.

The dessert was slightly disappointing this time because it was lumpy and quite sweet.
I hope on my next visit it will taste as good as my first visit.

    Pineapple pudding:

The pineapple pudding was quite nice with pieces of pineapple in the dessert.
However it was slightly too sweet.

I rarely go to the North end of Prince Edwards, so this time I gathered 3-4 places I wanted to try around that area:
Lan Yuen Chee Koon, Roadside, Bake & Bite and Ueno Bakery & Enzyme.

This was the last on the list to visit because it was for desserts.

The main dessert I came for was the grounded pistachio dessert.

As well as desserts they are famous for noodles and other cooked dishes.

The menu is quite historic with wooden covers!

The puddings and drinks are located in a refridgerated cabinet by the entrance.

    Interesting sauce!

    grounded pistachio dessert:
When I ordered the grounded pistachio dessert they said there was only half a portion left but since this was the only item I came for, it was really lucky I could pay half price for half a portion.
Although she said there was only half a bowl, there was more than half in there.

The colour does not look appealing but it was really really delicious.
I was surprised how smooth and runny it was!!!!

The sweetness was just right and you could really taste the pistachios in it which had a slight savoury taste.

    Pistachio pudding:
This was also nice too but in pudding form!
It is also a must eat item as well because not many places offer this.

Pretty good Just OK Apr 07, 2012

We went here on an Easter weekend Friday night.

The service was very good by Chinese restaurant standards! All of our food came quickly and the owner was patient enough to give us recommendations when we couldn't make up our mind. We got free soup with our meal.

We ended up having a choose-your-own clay pot with Garlic sauce, beef tendon, 2 mushrooms and dried cabbage. Unfortunately the combination didn't work well for our taste buds. None of the ingredients tasted bad on their own (although the garlic sauce tasted a lot like sweet and sour sauce from an American chinese restaurant), but somehow mixed together it just didn't work. That was probably more our fault than the restaurant's. I'll probably ask for recommendations the next time we do the choose-your-own hot plate.

We also had soy sauce chicken, which was delicious! The meat came a little colder than I prefer, but the sauce and texture of the meat was just perfect.

There were a lot of pictures of delicious desserts on the wall, but when I saw them in the refrigerated display case they didn't look nearly as good or as fresh. So we passed on dessert.

I might come back to this place again - I like the idea of a choose-your-own clay pot.

Noted that the soup and the home-made dish are well-known and "yes", it's is tasty (and I don't to make more comment here...)

But, for the service, it's very good, not like others comment of "so bad servicing" and I only wait 10 mins for all dishes served.

    I'll visit this restruant again.
