Froyo at agnès b. Café LPG Smile Oct 24, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook

I came here especially for Froyo, not because of the recent popularity in Froyo, but the cute Mini profiteroles toppings.
I wonder if the size of these are smaller or the ones at Clover are smaller?

They were so cute, each profiterole has a chocolate base, and the mini profiteroles in the display jar had a white base.

It costs $30 per cup, and there is a choice of mango or original froyo, with a free topping and a choice of sauce.
The choice of toppings include: fresh strawberries, fresh blueberries, rainbow meringues, mini proferiteroles, cocoa powder, hazelbut cookie curmble, palmier crumble, oatmeal cookie crumble, millefeuile, almond, hazelnut, liquid filled boba, mochi.
As for the sauces they had: chocolate, caramel, creme brulee, peach and pineapple, but unfortunately they didnt have creme brulee on the day I went.

The funny thing was, I ordered the mini profiteroles as stated on the choice list, but they didnt know what they were until I pointed to it on the choice list, and after some mumbling between the staff, they said "ar mini puffs ar".
Anyway the mini profiteroles were really cute, it would be so cool, if those tiny things were pre-filled with froyo, just like cream filled profiteroles.
Apart from the Froyo, the Jasmine mini cake was also quite pretty, it has glittery gel on the top, which I am intrigued to know what those glistening particles are.

Overrated  Just OK Apr 25, 2010

    Two words - overpriced, overrated.

    Good things about this restaurant:
    1. Really nice environment/atmosphere. Situated on the 2nd floor of the shop overlooking the bustling CWB. Teal-colored walls, french decor, small wooden chairs, small marble-top tables, nice chandeliers.
    2. Tailored service. Of course, agnes B has a reputation to uphold in both the fashion and culinary industry. Both services put heavy emphasis on customer service. I would not expect any less from them in this regard.

    Could improve:
    1. took a LONG time to serve the food - we had to wait for a long time.
    2. the rolls were ROCK HARD.
    3. the food wasn't BAD per se but it definitely isn't worth the price...
    4. Size of desserts: petit.
    5. Apple/pear crumble: that's not how a proper crumble is made! There wasn't enough crumble.

Wouldn't go back a second time unless circumstances are compelling.
Not recommended for lunch either. Go there for tea (tea set) if you must.

Terrible terrible food. EVERYTHING we ordered was overcooked (lobster, fish, foie gras, meat). I spent 2100$ for food that i might as well have cooked myself (i'm an amateur in cooking btw).

However, i do must give them the thumbs up for their desserts. They were much much better than the appetizers and main courses.

Good but somewhat not worth it Just OK Jan 21, 2009
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Went to eat here because I had a 20% off coupon - initial reaction regarding the settings and atmosphere was that this place was going to be quite expensive, and it proved to be true.

Ordered: -lemonade drink (very very good, was around $50~60).
-onion soup (while price was not outrageous at $50 for such a place, the taste leaves a bit to be desired, its not bad, but still disapointing).
-nicoise salad (I really liked the taste and the tuna was fresh, but it is way too expensive for its portion, $80 for a very small plate).
-sea bass (this was good, but again slightly too expensive, over $200).
-banana crepe as desert (quite good, but not worth $60 imo).

All in all, this is a decent place to dine in.. if you can afford it. It should be noted that they have really delicious cookies though!

Special Dinner Smile Apr 28, 2008
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook

Strawberry Juice ($38), Waiter said it's 100% made of juice without adding any other things. But this juice made me very full afterwards.

幸好玉米是代言人, and his CM pop up in my mind immediately. ^_^

Soup: K san ordered Onion soup ($50) which was his favourite. Mine was crab bisque ($70). 洋蔥湯好清,比我的好飲好多, 蟹味太濃&漏, in fact before ordering, the waiter has told me but I insisted.

We picked Daily Salad ($88). The portion was quite small and we both thought it didn't worth the price when compared with 小白屋.

Veal chop for 2 persons ($700). It's quite funny that the waiter showed us the veal before cutting it at 30m far away from our table. Maybe the area was a bit crammed. The veal was served with 2 kinds of sauce, one was mustard and the other I forgot. Both were ok tasty. Waiter told us the 小牛肉was sent from Holland?? and the texture was quite 嫩滑. However, both of us would prefer to have a more heavy taste of beef. Side dish was baked potato. Yummy but only a few pieces...not enough for me la...

After having all these, I was already 75% full but still wanna try the desserts here. At the same time, K san ordered his third drink - Coffee (with rich coffee taste and smooth). Waiter recommended the Apple tart which was very yummy, reminded me of the same dessert at 法式牛扒屋! The ice-cream on top was caramel. Bottom was made of crepe with heavy apple taste.

As it was his bday, I also chose one small cake - mille-feuille and told the waiter to prepare it as a surprise. Turn out a sparkling candle was put on the cake. K san was so surprised that the candle was suddenly put too near to him. Haha really a surprise for him~~~

A buy one get one free coupon and a "頭抽" Olive Oil was given to us as a gift.

The service is really excellent. All waiters seem very helpful and try their best to recommend the dishes for us. But we both think that the food quality didn't worth that high price. We paid for the brand name only!!!

Thanks for the dinner. I really enjoy the dining time with you. Let's try some other good restaurants together. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to U~~~~~~~~~~~

exceptionally delicious cakes  Mar 12, 2008

Consider buying their pastries and cakes and take home to enjoy.
Cakes cost $30 each for take-away, $50 for dining in.
Our family bought a piece of each of the followings:- St Honore; Hazelnut cake; millefeuille; lemon tartlet and raspberry tartlet.
All of them are distinct and prepared with sincerity. Their outlook are tempting and we could feel how the chefs shaped the delicacy into perfection.
Seldom we encountered the sharp and natural flavour of lemon in desserts as in their lemon tart.
Hazelnut cake is also an overwhelming success in terms of texture and taste.
The Agnes b. package box and carry-bag enhanced the presentation; we served them on bone china plates with dessert forks and enjoyed every cake to the full!
The staff and decor at the patisserie enabled us a nice shopping experience.
Apparently $30 sounds expensive just for a single tiny piece of take-away mini cake; yet it's worth spending if the cuisine bring you a nice French-accented memory.

    BAD!  Sep 19, 2007
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
me and my friends went to agnes b and we didnt like the food at all. we ordered soup of the day(cream soup with potato and garlic), foie gras, seafood salad, monfish, smoked salmon crepe, hazelnut cake, chesnut cake and souffle. we were sharing... probably the crepe was the best. the room was renovating so we had to sit outside. the atmospehere wasnt nice. i\'m sure sitting inside might be a little bit better. The salad was not yum... i didnt like the monkfish & souffle too. the food was a bit slow and surely overpriced. anyway, i liked the hazelnut cake but it\'s only average. I will never ever go again!!!
