First off the old man in charge is such a feisty character! When my friend and I arrived we wanted to make sure we were sitting within the right area - he just pointed to a table and told us to sit We ordered the Corned beef hash and egg in a bun, French toast and 2 x cold milk tea- But apparently we ordered the 'corned beef, egg bun' thing wrong so he yelled the correct way to say it, then when we checked to see if they did french toast at lunch time he just said 'Of course we do french toast - we're open for business!' (As aggressive as this sounds, he was actually quite sweet, after he had served us our food he would peer around the corner with a huge smile everynow and then to check up on us - He was kind of like your regular sweet, old nutty grandpa) ''daan ngau bao'' - nice and hot and the bun was nicely toasted - nice and crispy beef-side, soft on the outside. French toast - Not like your regular HK style french toast with filling in the middle and deep fried, instead it is pan-fried and drizzled with condensed milk. There is also more of an eggy taste and a softer texture, so it's perfect if you don't have much of a sweet tooth Cold milk tea - Came in a Schweppes bottle, and I have to admit I thought it was one of the best i''ve tasted - Some cold milk teas have a very diluted taste (probably because of the amount of ice they add) and other places taste very heavy and are too thick/filling - but I thought this place had the right balance To me, the food we ordered today was a bit of a miss ...but the tea won me over Alot of the other customers were eating noodles and it looked quite good, so the next time i'm back i'll be enjoying an ice cold milk tea with a nice big steaming bowl of noodles Recommended Dish(es):

After lunch at Yung Kee the boys were only 6-outta-10 full... so I took them to Sheung Wan Market for some good eats!! I had read about this place and have made a mental note to come for a long time...so off we were. $20ish cab ride later we were at the doorstep of an indoor-market. On the second floor there are plenty of 'dai pai dongs', each specialising in different foodstuff - there's one doing Thai food, one doing dim sum etc.... We went to shop CF17 and found a table for ourselves and placed our order: one milk tea (iced) each, and two French toasts to share. Iced Milk Tea ($9 each) comes in a re-used Schweppes bottle. The old man delivered these goods quite soon after our order, so I'm guessing they were made earlier that day and refrigerated. No ice here, so the tea and milk concoction is rich, and as you can see by the colour of the drink, the tea is quite strong - exactly what I like! If you prefer milkier drinks then this may not be for you.... (as it was not for A anyway). French Toast ($18) is made to order and different from any French toast (HK-style of course) I've ever had. Whilst I grew up with the deep-fried kind, with either a sweet spread in between (peanut butter or Kaya) or plain with golden syrup on the side for you to pour (think Lan Fong Yuen or Stanley Market's 泗益), Sui Kee's version is two slices of white bread pan-fried with a little egg wash until golden brown and then condensed milk is drizzled on top.... now this, in our unanimous agreement, surpasses the deep-fried version! This was something that we raved about from after eating it until night....if you have any doubt as to what I've just said, please do try it for yourself! for more photos: http://gastronomerr.blogspot.com/2010/08/shui-kee-cafe-must-visit.html

Basically, there are 3 things to eat here -Milk Tea -French Toast -Egg and corned beef(spam?) sandwich The French Toast is the best I've had in Hong Kong. Lightly fried and drenched in condensed milk. The egg and corned beef/spam sandwich was a bit strange and unlike anything I've had. I didn't have the milk tea but it looked good. The old man can't really remember who ordered what but that's part of the experience. Recommended Dish(es):

This entry combined two of my frequent visits to the always-happy-smiling gentleman of the store, who undeniably deserves all the good ratings. Always greeting regulars with a big smile, may sometimes be forgetful you have to remind him the orders several times, or you may even need to go straight to the kitchen to do so, still you will rewarded back with the well-above standard homemade food later served. It has been long boasted as the signatures, even on magazines, silky smooth with good aroma of tea, served cold in glass bottle instead of mixing with ices, is one of the best in town. Unlike the usual one, it's also fried with spring-onion, adding a special aromatic flavor the already nicely tasted corned beef, the bun was specially bought from a bakery supply in Ap Lei Chau, soft but remained crispy after grilled. The generous size can be shared among 2 persons. Again, the white loaf bread used was bought from the bakery as mentioned above; the bread was first entirely soaked in the egg-yolk paste then slowed fried on pan to the gold-yellow, it's simply another hongkong styled divine. This is another version, the filling still went really well with the white toasts. It does depends what kind of beef slices one like, this one is soft and tender, instead of the chewy one may like, the soup has no MSG but still retained its freshness and light-sweatness, together with lots of veggie, and what's more it's surprisingly cheap, definitely a nice treat for lunch

Again this is a belated review. Went to this place for breakfast on the day following our removal. We were just too tired to prepare breakfast after a whole day of hard work. So we hop on the tram, and headed to Sheung Wan. The Sheung Wan market is rather run down. Luckily this place is in a corner with windows, which make it feel more secluded. Anyway one do not come here for ambiance. This was our first time here, and we ordered following: French Toast Hot dog bun with corn beef and egg Ice milk tea The food took a while to arrived but they were all good. The French toast was the best I had for a long time. It was golden yellow in color, light and fluffy, and not greasy at all. With some melting butter on top it taste just wonderful. The Hot dog bun was lightly toasted. The filling of scrambled egg with corn beef was lightly salted, and did not feel heavy. The ice milk tea was serve in a bottle. It was rich and smooth. Superb. Food here was so inexpensive, and one can feel that the owner really prepare the food with care. Service was friendly. Love it. Can't wait to return for more. Recommended Dish(es):
