The style of Crabtree’s Tearoom is exactly the same as its products: elegant and sophisticated.

If the weather is not too hot, it’s highly recommended to reserve a table outside the tearoom, which is a nicely designed bird’s net. Before the foods arrived, I was already impressed by the set of equipments, which is our beloved floral print, very strong English style. The flower tea wasn’t really strong in taste but smell really good! The high tea set finally arrived. Wow! The pastries are quite big in size! I especially like the fruits tarts, not too sweet and just right in taste. The chocolate desserts were fine, rich in its coco taste! The overall environment and the high tea set matched well together, it’s another kind of appreciation of art. It’s lovely to spend a warm afternoon with a brunch of ladies here, no rush, just relaxing!

There are 2 good reasons for choosing to have tea at this tearoom:

1. To have a girly get together with friends
2. It's the only nice tea place in this area of WanchaiThe first time I came was to have tea with my 2 friends on my birthday. We had the set tea and I remember thinking the savoury pastires were better than the sweet cakes and with ordering the set, there were 2 small hand creams that was given away with it.

This time, I came after a huge Japanese lunch and could hardly eat anything. So we just ordered tea and some cookies. My friend ordered the lavendar tea and the tea itself was a violet pink colour. The ceiling has a huge rose and the paper napkins are too pretty to wipe our mouths on, so I took mine away.I will always think of this place if I want to spend an afternoon with good friends just catching up.

I did not feel particularly hungry this afternoon, so I went to the Crabtree & Evelyn Tea House for a piece of cake. The place were mainly used as product showcase, rather than tearoom during the weekdays I guess. The staff said they would usually have more tables and chairs later the day at tea time.

The cake fridge displayed four different kinds of cake, which each and everyone of them looked appetising. My attention was drawn to the two pieces of chocolate fudge cake on the left top corner. The staff seems not to know what the cakes were and had to confirm with someone else each time I asked a question. She did not even know the name of the chocolate cake that I was having...Despite the lack of knowledge, the staff was actually very nice.

The chocolate cake was packed really nicely in a floral paper box and was put into the Crabtree shopping bag. A set of plastic fork and spoon was packed alongside the box. There was a plastic wrapping along the side of the cake and also presented this awkward expiry date stamp too.

The chocolate cake was layered in sponge cakes and chocolate fudge. The fudge layer on top was extremely smooth and creamy. It melt on your palate and slid down your throat gently. The texture of the chocolate cake layer wasn't as soft but still matched with the fudge layer perfectly. The piece of cake was overall not too sweet, so each spoon was deliciously indulging.

My mum and I went for a weekend high tea this afternoon. We didn't realised that we would have to make a reservation before our visit to the cafe. When we walked into the cafe, the manager ( I assume, as she's the only one wearing a suit) at the counter has no respect to us what so ever. She told us that there are no space and she doesn't know how long we would have to wait until one of the 7 tables will be finished. (Her attitude was sick, and act as if we do not have money by looking down on us throughout the whole conversation) I said to her your shop don't close until 8pm, it was 3pm at the time, and I doubt the current people will eat till it closed.


She told me to make a booking, but we would not be available to book it until a week later.



I didn't believe that the serverations would even be full during the weekdays, and I told her to check on 28th. And guess what, "no one" was reserved...how suprise!!! I made a booking on the 28th, plus, also left my mobile with her to call back when one of the customers finished, and so she did.

We returned about an 30mins later. Just as when we were trying to place an order of the 2 person tea set, the waiter told us that "everything" are sold out. (We thought, why the hell did you call on our mobile, if there are no food to be sold be the cafe). "there are 1/2 set left overs" she added. I told her to double check with the kitchen and so she did, and it just happened that "there are still food available". The whole experience was a total mass.

The manager has no interest to serve and provide any service to the customers. The waiters around are gossiping around doing nothing, except for one out of the five. Taking turns to chat on the casher's phone with their friends and hiding at the back of the cafe.

* Overall, $298 for 2 person's set, food wise, I must say, we have had better at both local hotels and cake shops around the area. Sauage roll, spin roll, scone...basic cheap stuff.
* Atmosphere wise, sigh...the air conditioning temperature is under approx. 20C average blowing right above your head from the indoor area. Thus, it takes at least 15mins walk from the MTR.
* Serving china are clean and neat, girly colours in pink and green, but nothing special.
* As per the gift cream, I guess the cost of the meal has already covered it, so I wouldn't say that is valuable.

Having said the aboves, I would NOT suggest people to go, unless you are ready for the rude low life waiters to roll their eyes at you throughout your meal.

Nice elegant packaging that contains orange butter cookies inside the rolled cardboard tin.

Each cookie is thin in thickness, however its texture is like a cross between a shortbread and a cookie, less of a crunch.

The cookie contains alot of orange peel in it, and has a jaffa taste rather than citrus flavouring which complements the buttery flavour.

On the aftertaste, there was a slight mintyness to it.

Other cookie flavours include all butter hazelnut, chocolate, lemon, breakfast, oat and cranberry, strawberry and cream, white chocolate and raspberry, shortbread.
Although not all the flavours may be available in HK.

I never knew that Crabtree and Evelyn has a tearoom and serves food and drinks...but it apparently does, the location is tucked away in an office building in Wanchai. It isn't marketed much, maybe that's why I haven't heard about it before.

The place has super limited seating, so if you wanna go, it's better to make a booking. When the weather is cool enough, you can go for the cute gazebo outside ^_^

My girlfriend and I went for the classic high tea set for two, which was served in extremely unbelievably pretty Crabtree & Evelyn tableware. We ordered Rose tea and peppermint tea, which was lovely with a touch of flower honey.

We had warm scones...served with clotted cream, strawberry and blueberry jam. I am not a big fan of scones and had it when it has turned cold, but my friend told me that they were lovely when still warm.

The sweets...fruit and strawberry tarts and some chocolates. Fresh fruits on the tarts, but sadly, I could've bought better ones from elsewhere. The chocolates were good, but again, nothing that'd make me go crazy.

I lovee their savoury pastries. Maybe I am just a savoury girl. Flaky, buttery skin with savoury filling? Yum! The chicken and smoked salmon sandwiches? Nothing worth going back for.

We couldn't finish quite a lot of stuff and they packed everything into a pretty box. I also brought home the remaining jar of honey, and the set comes with a small tube of Crabtree & Evelyn handcream, packed in another pretty box.

It's not so much about the food or the tea, but the experience of having them out of pretty packaging. I'd totally go back to let more girlfriends gawk at the floral beauty ^_^

I had an enjoyable afternoon at The Tearoom today.
I made a booking at noon and the staff was friendly and polite.

My friend and I ordered the high tea set for two. Honestly, as I've read the comments about it before, I didn't expect too much. Everything turned out to be better than expected.

For those who love British scone, you just can't miss it here! I am not a scone lover but I must say that they were unexpectedly tasty! It's great especially when it goes with the strawberry jam offered. Vote for it!

Their pastry also impressed me a lot. All of them were delicious. They were heated when they're served. They were not oily at all. Again, it's beyond my expectation. I think I love them most in the set.

I would also like to recommed their tea to all of you here. I am a coffee lover but I opted for Jasmine Tea today. I simply thought that I can have something a bit different from what I used to have. It's perfect to have jasmine tea with flower honey.

The only thing disappointed me was that they only serve their tea in the shop, not for sale anymore instead. I can only order it from the UK or wait until Christmas when special set are available.
