I write to give some commets on the buffet dinner to the L'Eclipse restaurant.

Cold dishes include lobsters, oysters, prawns, sashimi.....

If you're not keen on those cold dishes, you may find the choices of food are limited.
But I really appreciate the sincere services of the managers, chefs and the staffs, especially they do care the oppinions from the customers.

My husband had made a comment on the quality of the roast beef last time. This time, it has improved a lot. Not only on the quality but also the cooking style.
I found it is much to be appreciated.

I think dining is not only about the quantity of food(most of the people focus on it), but also the quality of food and the service and the environment provided.

I hope to use the chance to tell the others that HYGENIC and QUALITY of food and the CARING of the staffs are most important when dining out.

I come here several times and comment its food quality is good. But today the food quality is very very so so. The details as follow:

the lobster's size is smaller than before; the taste of smoked salmon is terrible; the taste of grill 生蠔 is terrible; the taste of tampura is fat.. full of oil; the taste of 龍蝦湯 and chinese 湯 so so pure like water


Finally, i order set tea (green tea), no taste...

I feel sorry for having dinner at here..

It was my gf birthday. She is a big fans of dessert while I am a big fans of oyster. It seems only hotel buffet can offer both.

Recommended food:
Oyster - They have both American and Australian oysters. Both are good but I personally prefer the Australian one.
Lobster - They have both Boston and Australian lobsters. The Boston one taste marginally better
Dessert - Ridiculous lot of variety of desserts. Note that there are 3 cakes placed near the entrance which is also part of the desert!
Parma ham and salami - delicious albeit a bit salty
Salad - Good variety of green, toppings and dressings

Pros:
Staff are nice and environment is decent
Not crowded at all

Cons:
Beer is very expensive (To hotel management: If I drink more, I eat less. Deal?)
Huge Esprite LED wall outside window is very distracting

Compare to hotels nearby, the buffet is reasonably priced. They offer a funny discount that if your name has any alphabet in "eclipse" you get 25% off. Believe it or not, there has been some customers who really struggle with it.

There are selections of "H" and "M" ice-creams - 4 choices with cone, sauce, dip. So you can make a nice sundae.

We have ordered the lemon and it come with a cookie.

You can also order fish which is steam by order.

All in all, we like the buffet.

today is my sis bd. we tried a lot of hotel buffet in t.s.t. sis suggest to go here. we negoitate with the manager about 3 cars 3 hours parking. finally we r a bit over 3 hours. manager still give us. service very nice. environment very good. food are nice. it has ordered free expensive food e.g. shrimp, lamb, etc. not a lot of selection but everything is nice. if 1 of our name's letter same as the restuarant's 1 letter. we have the whole bill 25% off. in fact we never need to show our credit card or id, the bill already 25% off. it is quite hard to drive there as no much sign. but i guess we will go there again, as the service is quite good, food are tidy and clean.

i like this hotel, tried a few times bostonian and tang court, all were very satisfied. attentive services, delicious food with good quality.

booked this buffet more than one month ago, for celebrating my family members' birthday.

as my review topic - great expectation, great disappointment.

varieties: many different food, from cold to hot, from raw to cooked.

services: very attentive services.

food quality: that's what i mean disappointed:

- raw oysters: yes it's opened before your eye, the chef was busy opening oysters. when i saw he "washed" every opened oysters with water, you know the standard there. he opened the oysters, "washed" them with a tank of water, and put them out for you to pick. i am an oyster monster, i love oyster very much, but all i can say is - tasteless. the oyster quality was not good, and i also found broken shells... i had 11, and 2 with broken shells.

- sashimi: haha i can only say it's really really terrible quality, worse then anything. go try the tuna, you'll suspect if it's fake fish...

- soup: the chinese soup was made by the tang court chef (with a label mentioning this), really good and smelled great! the western soup - lobster soup - was terrible. with the usual thick texture, it tasted funny - i took a sip and told my sister "it's like the lobster sauce with pasta".

- cha siu was good, i like it.

- baked oysters: made with order. hot, but again tasteless, the oyster itself was small and the toppings were not attractive too.

- parma ham: dry, not tender, not juicy, very cheap quality ham.

- dessert bar: in general desserts were better, very nice.

if you go with a birthday friend, you pay $280 on average. i went with three others and thus ended up with ~$400 per head.

it absolutely didn't worth over $250.

with similar price, todai, intercontinental and the hunghom hotel are better choices.

seafood - not a lot of choice, not impressive
hot stuff - some name palte missing, not much choices, taste average
salad - great selection & fresh
fruit - very few options
asian selection - Indian Naan: so so, noodle - not attractive; BBQ pork: so so; sushi - so so, fried noodle: so so; dim sum: 2 choices only, taste so so
choculate fountain
environment - comfortable, quiet (only 1/4 filled with of guests)
service - so so, many waiters, not frequently take away empty plates/ refill water
$ - pretty expensive

Dessert - very very good (except peanut butter mousse), a lot of choices, including 3 flavours of HD ice-cream with cruchy waffle cone, other mousse, cakea, pina cotta etc unique, not too sweet. smell great and taste fresh, look pretty. but the spoon is a bit too big to dig the dessert that served in small glass

really hope they will have dessert buffet in the future

My mother wanted to have a buffet lunch after her morning shopping in TST. I met her in this restaurant for a weekday lunch.

The decoration and environment gave a mordern and neat impression. The only weakness was the table arrangement which made every table too close to each other. There was only a tiny gap between our table and our neighbour's. I can put a dish on top of the gap so that the dish can cling on the edges of the two tables without falling down. Even the passageways were just enough for a person to walk through at any one time. When I met another guest coming in front of me, I had to make a U turn to give way to him.

The servers were quite helpful and friendly. I saw them chatting with some other guests every now and then.

When it comes to the food, we felt a bit disappointed. The selection was quite small. They only offer the must-have items. The sushi and salad choices were limited to the common types. No surprise at all for the range of food being served. The dessert table features a orange-flavoured chocolate fountain. I could not taste either the orange or chocolate flavours.

As I was lured to become their Entree Club member by paying a fee of nearly HK$2000, they gave us a 50% discount exclusive of service charge. The normal tariff for 1 person is $198 + 10%. If I did not have their membership, I would rather go to Cafe de Coral or Fairwood for lunch instead.
