到0.5°c食完午餐後, 在附近四圍走走, 欣賞下大坑這老區, 大部分樓宇都保留傳統特色, 有些加了些現代原素; 一個頗有特色的社區而且車輛及人流不太多, 可以舒服地漫步。看到這間屋十分舊式, 塗上色彩繽紛的油及換上西式的木窗框, 新舊x中西cross over 非常特別, 不禁令小妹停下脚部欣賞一番。在在這時候才發覺對面有一間完全不起眼的餅舖一Jam Bakery. 鐵門只開了一半, 以為是餅舖的後門, 探頭一看, 店主突然出現! 八卦的老公上前詢問, 原來Jam Bakery 以前有門市但敵不過昂貴租金, 所以搬到現址, 即是在工場門口售cookies。就是用這簡單的木架放滿一包包不同味道的cookies。有十款之多, 售$40~50, 不算便宜但小店是要多多支持才能生存, 否則香港小店會慢慢被大型食店趕走。這裡的cookies 全部都可試食, 客人不不太多可以慢慢品嚐, 店主更細心介紹每款cookies。在店主的熱情介紹下, 老公買了2包cookies。朱古力cookies (每包HK$40,約160g)香濃朱古力味及牛油味相互溶合,而又不會掩蓋對方,味道調配得非常平衡;而且吃得出採用的牛油及麵粉應該是高質原材料,因為沒有平價曲奇的那種嗆喉的牛油味,只是不清楚可可粉/朱古力粉是否採用歐洲名牌?每塊曲奇都含有兩、三顆小小的朱古力,更加是朱古力曲奇的必需條件。優質朱古力曲奇的基本條件,Jam bakery都做到了。這間小店的朱古力曲奇並非非常脆口的種類,也不是Mrs.Fields軟糯帶少少煙靱的口味,而是鬆化、酥身的曲奇;個人來說,也比較喜歡這種口感。蝴蝶酥(每包約HK$45,約150g)牛油味夠重,也夠香口;只是鬆脆得來稍嫌略硬,而且不夠酥化,稍為欠缺了「酥」的質感,咬開蝴蝶酥後,「酥」所須要的一層層酥皮也不太明顯。同時,表面的薄層焦糖稍嫌不足,甜味不夠,估計是加在酥皮表面的砂糖份量稍為少了一點,所以焗制後表面不夠甜,也不夠金黄。當然,是否夠甜純粹是個人口味。平均來說,曲奇質素相當不錯, 至少我認為不俾Jenny Bakery及Cookies Quartet差。講真,我一直覺得,未廣為人知之前的Jenny Bakery(赤柱的樓上小店年代)及 Cookies Quartet,質素可能比現在更好,至少不須要遷就大量生產。希望Jam Bakery可以堅持小店的重質作風。 continue reading

Once again, I have come up with a review of yet another brand of cookies that I have the pleasure to try recently, special thanks to my dear foodie friend MKK.The protagonist of this review is the Rose Tea Cookies from Jam Bakery. To provide you with an extra bit of sensory experience, each cookie is shaped like a piece of leaf which resembles those of a tea plant.As for the taste, it is nothing like my favorite chocolate or the all-so-common butter cookies, but chewy with nuts and emanating the genuine and strong aroma of rose tea which serves as its most unique feature.For my fellow cookie lovers who have had enough of the traditional style of cookies and are eager to try something different, this rose tea cookies from Jam Bakery might just be the solution that you are looking for. continue reading

是晚,約了美少女到附近吃飯。原打算去la famaille 買戚風蛋糕給她,誰知,無心插柳下,去了JAM Bakery。適時,其旁邊的JAM Bakery半開著鐵閘,近門口位的一個木架,放著數款出售的曲奇。小妹八掛,探頭向內窺探,一疑似老闆男子馬上走前,拉開鐵閘,熱情地招呼小妹。小妹曾光顧過炮台山的JAM Baker,吃過其美味蛋糕,也素知其製餅工場設於大坑,有緣遇上,真幸運。 然,從男子口中,始知炮台山店已結業,只剩下工場,提供網上訂購。香港租金昂貴,想經營一間小店,真的絕對不容易! 老闆笑容滿臉地招呼小妹,介紹了數款曲奇,並大方地拆開讓小妹試味。個人而言,還是喜歡混雜茶葉碎在其中的花茶系列。一口氣,買了四袋,三袋玫瑰味曲奇,一袋伯爵茶曲奇。一袋有18塊曲奇,售價$40,不算貴!原打算送玫瑰茶曲奇給美少女,誰知她不吃玫瑰或薰衣草製成的食品,故改送伯爵茶曲奇了!玫瑰茶曲奇的葉片造形蠻可愛和特別,入口口感偏硬實,曲奇內拌入玫瑰花茶碎和香脆杏仁粒,香脆而不油膩或甜膩,蠻具咬口和嚼勁!細嚼下,幽幽的玫瑰茶香在齒頰中溢出,煞是回味。播著音樂,泡一壺茶,伴以玫瑰茶曲奇同吃,度一個悠閒的下午....... continue reading
