One of my friend recommend me to try this restaurant. He said the taste is good.
    Unfortunately, I have different experience!
I ordered 豉油王鵝腸, 蒜子莧菜, 鹵水乳鴿 and feel dishes.
豉油王鵝腸 - The taste too light. I don't feel that special as it receomended from the menu.
蒜子莧菜 - The dish already cool down but the taste okay! I think the dish kept in kitchen too long as they don't have enough staff.
鹵水乳鴿 - I don't feel too speical. The taste quite normal. I can easily find in the BBQ shop in Jordan area.

One of the best Suckling Pig! Just OK Mar 27, 2012
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
新斗記 is at the heart of Jordon. The speciality of the restaurant was the suckling pig. It was quite eye-catching to see roast suckling pig cooked live by the chef next to the reception. The dining room table is generously spaced, but the chairs are rather uncomfortable. If you are planning for a long gathering, might consider bringing your own cushion.

We arrived the restaurant 30 minutes early, was very excited about the suckling pig. However, the receptionist asked us to take a seat and we eventually waited 30 minutes before we were sited. The worst of all was her manners, the reason we were not seated was because the customers were eating. It would be understandable if that was true (operating at full capacity), clearly not. Finally, we were taken to the table, which was empty since 7:30pm, how wonderful.

We ordered the roasted suckling pig, dried scallop with egg white fried rice and stone pot Chinese cabbages. I was curious why the fried rice was served before the suckling pig and took about 45 minutes before the stone pot cabbages was delivered to the table. Perhaps they ran out of pots and they needed to sharpen the knife to slice the pig!

The suckling pig was genuinely good, with crisp skin with a little bit of honey flavour, yet not too salty. The meat has a lovely flavour, which wasn’t dry (a lot of restaurant over cooked it). More importantly the juice of fat was well sealed inside the meat!

The Chinese cabbage was cooked on the table with the heated stone pot! The cabbage was well cooked, but lacked spiciness from the chilli. Nonetheless, I was overwhelmed with the idea to serve the cabbage on the table.

The fried rice was quite a disappointment. Fairly average, the level of cooking was no better than Cantonese style tea restaurant.

The food was all right and the service was poor. One Michelin star restaurant, frankly laughable! Perhaps should revisit with a group of mate to try more dishes for a fair review.

despite gd or bad experiences, I simply just let it go but this china town style joint was unbelievable. Walk in @ 6pm on a Tuesday evening for a table of 3. Gues what
No table was the 2 words they can utter!

Am totally amazed that this type of services n establishment still exists!

Oh add to the insult, the joint was extremely quiet, no waiting patrons or noisy dinners!

May be they are holding the wake for the Chinese ghost festival or something so I dint c their long line of waiting dinners.

given the choices available in the area, i strong recommend to visit other establishments instead.

went there for a late dinner on Fri night, arriving at 9pm.

need need to wait for almost 30 mins for a table for 2...
after seated, we ordered 3-4 food items, including the roasted suckling pig.
yet, the waiter kept telling us the dishes would come a bit slower for tonite - we were fine for it as we 2 persons couldnt finish food very quick anyway, rather have more buffer in between.

however, no other dishes were served after the suckling pig, later on a waiter came over and explaint the stove in kitchen was out of order. no other dishes would be served for the next 1.5- 2hrs!!!! shocked

we were angry but hungry at the same time.
if there's something wrong w/ the kitchen's facility, why not be honest and direct by the time we ordered!!!! now, trapped us there for almost an hr, and we could only have the suckling pig! huffy

yet, no special offer the bill was ever made even customers were seriously upset.
not even waiving the "tea money" charged per head. we paid some $150 and then left.

    Disappointed.

Dad's b-day and had a dinner there few days ago.
I think the best dish is the Roasted little pig. So crispy!! Service is not bad...But the dishes not even an average! We'd a Garlic Fish Head in the claypot...was burnt! damn... Other dishes seems like cooked by my ex...sorry girls!
The worst is the Ventilation on the 2nd floor is so bad...Smokey and cloudy in the whole dining area. Smell like a dish on the body when I got home.....
