Ive had some bad service in Hong Kong but this restaurant and it's two rude staff win the prize for slowest, most arrogant servers of any restaurant I've eaten at in Hong Kong in the threes years I've lived here.

Walked in, couldn't find any staff, had to peer into the kitchen to get seated, the girl was in a rush and immediately we were made to feel unwelcome. Ordered the food, and to cut a very long story short, after 1 hour we walked out without even been served all dishes on the very ordinary lunch special.

If the owner of this restaurant ever reads this, you need to get your act together with this branch. I've eaten in your central branch several times and the service is ok Bought a VIP card but after our experience at our causeway branch we want to refund this card. We came in on Sunday 20th May 2012 at approx 1pm and the male server was without a doubt the most rude and obnoxious server we've experienced.

We weren't the only ones complaining - 4-5 other tables looked baffled at how long the food took and open elderly couple were so upset they also walked out.

I wouldnt return to this restaurant even if they paid me and it's unfortunate that restaurants like this lose their standards and food quality after having some success

Members Only Meal -
Sounds like a bargain. It is actually quite good in portions, but the quality or freshness or meat cuts weren't that great compared to before.

.Deep Sea Cocktail -
Made with Shochu, Liqueur, Lime Juice and Soda. A bit too weak ~ 5/10

.Cucumber with Tobiko and Caviar -
Named totally wrong as two types of Crab Roes, when it comes with two fish roes instead. Taste was refreshing, but I couldn't stand the Wrong Terminology involved. ~ 6/10

.Black Truffle Smoked Salmon Salad -
Decently prepared and plenty of fakish truffle paste added. Did I tell u I like fake truffle taste, as least it has some aroma unlike 8 out of 10 times. I eat real black winter truffles, outside of Europe. Totally welcomed. ~ 7/10

.Main Course Platter-
Pork, Chicken, Saga A4 Wagyu Beef Ribeye and normal Karubi, Hamaguri Clams, 2 Prawns, Shiitake Mushrooms, Japanese Oysters. The so called Wagyu A4 cuts definitely weren't Japanaese in quality, they were hardly marbled unlike normal Saga beef. The Rib Eye described were bruised and dull in colour and aren't up to the normal Wagyu standards. This restaurant should really get their acts together and not falsely advertise their inferior products. Not every customer is dumb out there, sigh...

.Chicken with Yuzu. Quite decent actually. The skin caramelized on the grill. Encore.

.Tough Beef Cuts. Looked marbled enough but wasn't so in the taste. Disappointed as it used to be better and not lying about the quality..

.Hamaguri Clams. I like these but 3 didn't bother to pop open, after cooking for 25 minutes. The restaurant was happy to swap to us some new clams, which eventually opened up. Kudos to them

.Nama Spring Rolls with Prawns -
Wasn't that much prawns inside. Refreshing but not as much as it promised on paper. Decent only.. ~ 6/10

.Rice Porridge with Raw Seafood Slices -
This was too Bonito fish dominant in taste, a little fishy in balance. Adding in the seaweed, probably a even more fishy. Didn'tt really pair well with Yakiniku anyway, right?. ~ 5/10

.Saga Wagyu - $98
We were so disappointed with the so called Wagyu or normal beef briskets above, we decided we had to order this separate Wagyu as a separate course. Limited to only 1 dish per table as it is on special price. This was much much better. In terms of both texture and fattiness as well as meat taste and marbling. A LA CARTE IS SEEMINGLY THE WAY TO GO HERE, skip the set courses! ~ 8/10

.Milk Purin -
Very strong in milk taste, butslightly set too hard. This was very enjoyable despite the less than optimal texture, which is made up for in the taste department. ~ 8/10 Encore.

This place has a nice intimate feel to it - wooden furniture, relatively small, and excellent service (it's a bit of a surprise when you pop out of the elevator.) Every dish we ordered was excellent, though I would say the portions are on the small side. If you are coming here hungry, you're going to have to order a lot to fill yourself up, which in turn is going to cost quite a bit.

We came after 9:30pm, when all dishes (except seafood) are 20% off and better yet the Asahi beer is 50% off! So the spending per head below was for a salad, a veggie dish, 3 meat dishes, and 3 beers. It might sound like a lot, but it was more like a big snack for two people. Or a small dinner...

Special recommendation goes to the Morihachi Spicy Vegetables - very nice indeed (though not really that spicy.) Also enjoyed the Wasabi Beef.

I have had Gyu-kaku many times in New York City prior to moving to HK. When i first tried Morihachi, I thought it was a pretty good place and definitely in direct competition with Gyu-kaku NYC (east village).

The location isn't a good one. Causeway Bay is sooo crowded!! I would have never found it on my own. It's situated in a dark building, the staircase looks like something out of horror movie!!

The food was very good though. the ox-tongue was one of my favorite. the veggie basket was presented in a very cute and pretty way. i loved how they cut their mushrooms, b/c mushrooms sometimes do look ugly.

the meat is very tender and fresh. also had a chance to order the shrimp, it was a big shrimp, but it was $100 HKD for ONE SHRIMP. i thought it was definitely on the expensive side. regardless, it was a delicious shrimp. loved it.

when we first arrived without making reservations, the guy at the front said we can get a table if we finish within one hour. i thought it was a little rude. i understand that it gets busy but honestly by the time i finish, there are still one or two tables left. the waiters weren't that friendly there. you always have trouble finding one, i guess they are busy running around serving others. HK isn't known for their service. so they get a 2 out of 5 stars for their service. food gets a 4 out of 5 stars.

i would definitely go back again!

This was a great find by my bf, as it's located on the 3rd floor inside Ying Kong Mansion, you will easily miss their big massive banner amongst the madness of Causeway Bay (near the pedestrian crossing to Sogo department store).

I haven't got used to the fact that some restaurants are located inside a building instead of the shop floor level, so before the lift's door opened, I had expected it to be sub standard! But I was glad to be proven wrong

We sat by the bar with our own BBQ oven and went a bit crazy on the order. We ordered wagyu beef as well as another type of beef (can't remember now!), veggie selection, giant king prawns and stone pot rice. Everything was very tasty, as we can cook it to our own taste.

It's great fun to cook the food yourself, but I think the fat from the wagyu beef had caused a lot of smoke for my next door neighbour. So if you don't like the smell of BBQ in restaurants be aware!

p.s. Spend per head included about 5 bottles of Asahi.

Wanna try this restaurant for a while already and finally did it last nite.

Made the reservation @ 10pm but we have arrived @ 915pm. Found that there is a 20% discount after 930pm, so we decided to get the table after 930pm.

In overall speaking, the environment is nice. Gonna say that the service is OK but for sure there is room to improve.

We have ordered the following

特選厚切鹽燒牛舌 - In overall it is OK but nothing special. Probably they cut it too thin
豬腩肉 - Too much sauce and it make u couldnt taste the pork
壺X汁燒牛肋骨 - It is the best. Really good taste. You can taste the beef as well as the balance of source
盛八豆腐 - Nothing special. Can skip next time
和牛炒飯 - Nothing special, Can skip next time

In overall speaking, the experience is nice. The 牛肋骨 is really good and I do recomment you guys to try it next time. As I did have it after 930pm, cant say it is a budget deal but still value for money. Improvement is required on the service.

Good yakiniku here, too bad they only allow you to dine for 1.5 hours during peak times, which is a bit rush when you want to include some serious drinking into your dinner. Better go late next time.

Good thing they brought back the garlic sauce though

Special beef rib, two sticks of short ribs marinated in something that tasted like teriayaki sauce, comes with a mushroom, two toothpick sized asparagus, 2 onion chinks and a bunch of parsley, served inside a tub. with a pair of scissors. they told me this will take 15 minutes to prepare, but it came after 5 The beef came out quite tender and flavourful and I was pleased.

onions, i thought they are supposed to be grilled, but came with an aluminum foil tub with a dab of garlic herb butter, however the butter was not sufficient for all of the onions so I was a bit confused, anyhow, I ended up stir frying them in the foil tub.

Raw beef salad, korean style, with raw egg, garlic and pear slices and sprinkle of sesame, not bad for $75, but Arirang does it better.

3 color tofu, tofu in soy sauce with chopped onion, tomatoes and pickled okra, this tasted strangely sour and I didn't enjoy it.

Salad leaves platter for wrapping your meat with, instead of the usual spicy bean sauce, they gave me thousand island and it didn't taste right, eventually I had to ask for the bean sauce. Quite stingy on the garlic slices too.

Chicken Liver in black pepper and 7 spice. Yes says "liver" on the menu, but in fact it was gizzard. Not bad when paired with the booze though.

Thick cut ox tongue., not bad, but the tongue wasn't fat enough and it sort of tasted bland. I probably opt for another plate of ribs next time round.

Clam and garlic broth, with seaweed, spring onion and daikon. At first it tasted quite salty with the juices of the clams flooding into the soup, but if you let it sit a bit longer, the saltiness becomes sweetness as the daikon and garlic slowly release their flavours.
Clams are nice and juicy, look how plump this one is!

Overall the experience was as expected, not bad to quite good, but better to come for late night snacks as they have huge discounts, and you don't have to rush to finish your meal inside 1.5 hours That's why I gave a 2 for their service, not because the service was bad, in fact it was fast and friendly, but because of the management's decision to limit your dining time.

上次去旺角分店盛八食日韓式燒肉已是宵夜時段, 有25% Off Food & 50% Off Drinks. 嗰次我寫個標題係'I Was Unlucky??' 因為唔好食又太甜之餘, 碟和牛竟然完全雪花欠奉, 但回家上網看見人家叫的和牛竟然又唔錯. 略覺得我哋唔好彩之餘兼俾佢揾笨, 心有不甘! 究竟係關唔關宵夜質素下降累事, 或還是旺角舖的問題啊, 定純悴係彩數嘅問題?　這回, 用原價再次係正常晚飯時候試試!

KUROBUTA (SALT) - Kyushu black pig belly strips with 3 layers. Good but did not have the unique Kurobuta 甘味 taste.

PORK SLICE (MISO) - This is normal pork but looks exactly like the Kurobuta pork above and tasted like it too, bar the miso marination difference. We weren't therefore convinced that the above was Kurobuta to be honest. Nevertheless, it makes for a good streaky bacon.

KOREAN LETTUCE - I always need this (サンチュ ) and rice to eat with 燒肉, since a bit of Greens offsets the strong taste of marinated meat, it also clears some of the 熱氣感覺! Like Yakiniku itself, this was also adapted from Korea but they sometimes use Perilla leaves. The Korean Lettuce is half way between a Butter Lettuce and an Iceberg. It came with a sauce which tasted like a mix of Miso, Sesame, Mayo and Chili Powder but ultimately left untouched.

BEEF SHORT RIBS (SOY TARE SAUCE) - Ordered 2 plates of this and it was really good. Not fatty but enough since we still have Wagyu and this was quite tender - the sauce tonight was spot on, a bit of soy and garlicky taste, with a hint of sugar in it. This was much better than the last Mongkok's supper experience, which was like 2-2.5 times sweeter than tonight!

KYUSHU WAGYU BEEF SHORT RIBS - I ordered EXACTLY the same dish that I ordered @ Mongkok's Supper last time, this selling for I believe $198? This time, lady luck was on my side and its like a million times better! Its tender, it was fresh red rather than dull red like last time, the marbling also snow like and evenly distributed. It wasn't overly marinated at all either like last time. LOVED THIS!

YAKI ONIGIRI'S - There were pre-grilled by Morihachi and not by the customer unlike at 伊呂波, but they weren't grilled well enough so we finished the grilling ourselves, only to have a 'Know-it-all' Waitstaff coming to teach us how not to grill it again or how not to do other things (he's actually been doing this the whole night with everything else, looking down on customers like we're clueless - rather than from his genuine heart!) These rice balls are really tiny, plus apart from the 醤油, isn't a normal plain Yaki Onigiri. What we received was the おかかの焼きおにぎり style with bonito flakes scattered within, which was not advertised on the menu. Some people I know (including myself!) can tend to find this grilled version 'fishy', whereas its less apparent on non-grilled Onigiri rice balls or triangles.

OX TONGUE WITH NEGI - They carry an alternative thicker cut, higher priced version as well but being the Host I convinced (or manipulated lol!) the table to eat the thinner Tongue version 'wrapped around Negi', a very popular Japanese way. The tongue was great, but the Negi here wasn't the chopped green spring onions I was hoping for. It was diced normal onions mixed with spring onion heads, the wrong whiter end.... This bit isn't very authentic nor honest in my opinion! Nevertheless..... still good. The above showing-off Waitstaff kept 'commanding' us how to wrap the tongues around the raw Negi to eat. But these were placed on raw meat before, of course we needed to cook them a little bit first, by putting them on the tongue after the 1st flip. IDIOT - NO SENSE OF FOOD SAFETY!

RICE - The rice was Japanese Pearl Rice, it says so on signages and it tasted like so. However it wasn't cooked too well, being a bit too lumpy. However its only $10 or $15 from memory. (At 和宴 its $30 and other En Group shops $25 a bowl, after a $50 beer and another $28-30 appetiser charge, you're already down $130~ish after 10% before starting to eat any meat. En Group = Ridiculous!)

BEER - Beer and drink prices aren't too expensive here, its mostly affordable and even Half Price after 10:30pm.

OVERALL - the food quality was great measured against its affordable prices, despite paying full price tonight. Its even better than 牛角 in Japan since that's a cheaper type of shop catering for students or young workers. Locally, this was better than my experiences at 和宴 (unfresh meat, expensive) & 和幸 (more meat selections, but poor cuts, taste & price), it even surpassed a previous meal at 伊呂波 (very authentic in taste, but less-neater meat cuts and platters).

At this Mid Range Price and considered as a Mid-Tier Yakiniku Ya - this is worthy of a '5' and I would definitely try it again. After a disastrous supper meal from last time, however, I will be short of recommending their lunch or supper offers! 這裡,不可貪小便宜吧: 博佢會一分錢俾一分貨才是上策, 食得安安樂樂算!

1st impression wasn't great as we had to wait, alothough a table had ben booked! Fair enough, all good restaurants require it's guests to wait which I didn't mind, BUT they managed to give a table away to 2 people who didnt even book!! Patience is a virtue, but I had to make sure that was not going to happen again... so beware if you've made a reservation.

The food however, really speaks for itself and will have your taste buds dancing! The Wagyu beef was tasty, juicy and tender, just as expected and the portion was just enough for 2. The Ox tongue has different grades and we chose to try the Supreme version and wasn't dissapointed, again very tender, the texture might be a bit strange to those who hav'nt had it before, but it's worth a try. We also had the Fois gras with Stone Pot Rice, not a great combination as the rice needs to be mixed and will eventually lose the flavor of the Fois Gras, my advise is to eat the Fois Gras Separately or not order it at all The Tiger Prawn and Scallops were fresh and very juicy indeed so no problems there!

The service is another story, maybe I have high standards, but still, there's no excuses for mising items off my order, so don't expect too much. It's worth a try and the price is very reasonable for the quality of food your getting! I'd go again.

It was my first time to having dinner @ here! Nice Deco, felt like in Japan. Since my husband and me were the new comers of this place. We ordered the HSBC promotion package which the supervisor recommend and fully explain (WOH!!! He’s real pro about MEAT). During the meal, the food was served quick and nice! Also I felt so …. being served well. The supervisor always came in the right moment, I don’t even have to raise my hand, he already show up in front of me and my husband. In the mean time my husband went to pick up our daughter, I tried to ask any extra recommendations in case there is not enough food. The nice young gentlemen named Kenny just merge the next table for us for enough space. Which is so thoughtful, it was really a fine dining experience to my family. I will be back!!!
