I was choosing a place to eat and this restaurant attracted me because of the brie on foccacia, egg and soldiers and there is a wide variety for brunch such as scrambled egg white.

The food also came with a choice of drinks which was impressive.
They had Smoothies, coffee or tea, champagne and something alcoholic which I cant remember.

Usually I always order a tea to end a perfect meal, but here they had smoothies.

As there were so many items I wanted to try, I came here twice which are both written in this review.
All the brunches came with a side portion of fruit.
The restaurant setting was nice and relaxing.

    Vegetarian breakfast:

Compared to the All day breakfast which was not vegetarian, the Vegetarian was much nicer because it had asparagus, spinach, potato rosti.
    ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
    All day breakfast:

The all day breakfast tasted ok.
    ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Toasted Brie and mixed mushrooms foccacia:

Although this was delicious, it tasted how it should have been because there was truffle on it.
The mushrooms were slightly disappointing because they had Asian mushrooms in it.
The brie tasted cheesy and strong like how it should.
    ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
    Ducks eggs and soldiers:

I wish they had marmite soldiers, but truffle soldiers were good enough.

I thought the eggs would come in egg cups but they came in mini expresso cups and I thought they would be ready for dipping but you had to peel it yourself.
Anyway I peeled it carefully and ate the top of the egg making a hole just big enough to dip the soldiers and carefully dipping it so that the egg yolk did not overflow.

It was good that duck eggs were used because the yolk was much thicker and the egg white was quite firm.
The soldiers and egg yolks were so delicious and the truffle made is luxurious.

    ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I loved their smoothies, it was not sweet and tasted natrual with the taste of ice, natural yogurt and the fruit.
Although it was slightly icy, it was really nice.
It has to finished quickly though because the ice and yogurt separates.
    raspberry smoothie:
This was really nice and you could taste the fresh raspberries, however there were too many raspberry pips in this.
    Apple and strawberry smoothie:

The raspberry was good, but the apple and strawberry was the best, there was lots of blended apple pieces and green apple skin in the smoothie and it felt really wholesome.

me and my sister went SOHO & hunt for all day breakfast ....we just need a quiet and cozy place to enjoy our food~
when we passed by BACAR, we walked in without second thought, coz there was only one couple inside
we sat down near the sofa side in front of the "transparent" kitchen & you could see how the chef prepare your food...nice!!!

ordered full breakfast + egg benedict....and of coz some coffee to complete our course: hot mocha & cappuccinotongue
haha the full breakfast look much more yummy than the benedict, and we were surprised by the large portion of the dish!!

it included eveything....sunny side up, pork sausage, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, mushroon, spinach, fruit bowl, toast.........
OMG, that was soooo amazing. It definitely worth the moneylol
as for the benedict, I would prefer it to go with muffin rather than the wheat toast....but it tasted pretty good too!!

this place is small but the food and service reli out of my expectation.!!! GOOD JOB BACAR~smile

Deep fried risotto balls and morrocan lamb cutlets - amazing!
Gorgeous chicken Parmesan pesto salad is perfect and a generous portion.

Staff are always smiling and curteous.

This is one of these lovely privately owned places you can't get enough of in HK.

    More please.

we lucked out in choosing bacar after walking along the street in soho. we went upstairs in a very cozy room. the staff told us that we had to finish before a 9 o'clock reservation for that table. no problem, since we planned to have some snack before a bar gathering elsewhere!

the triple appetizer had green & kalamata olives and artichoke heart -- top quality. the fried potatoes were piping hot and crispy -- never have such good taste even in the western world where we traveled. the tasmania mussels in wine sauce were plum & juicy -- again surpassed the other mussels that we had in europe or america. warm crispy bread was served and replenished on request. finally the mushroom pizza was fantastic -- sliced portobella and wild mushrooms with greenery on top. right amount of cheese, good flavors, crispy and not soggy. i never imagine i can find such outstanding pizza in hong kong!

service was great and friendly. i'll be back next time to have wine and other dishes.

salmon salad, mushroom risotto with shredded parmisan, coffee = $78

3 good pieces of smoked salmon, but the dressing is tasteless.

Risotto looks really good. Got slices of parmisan on top. However, too salty. I drank 2 glasses of water to finish it. Less the salt, it is chewy, and thick enough.

Coffee is so bad! I didn't finish half of it. Saw a whole box of ground coffee in the grinder. They pre-grind the beans. No wonder bad coffee.

Environment is ok. At least no cars outside. It is the escalator.

Warm, yuppy hangouts ... Just OK Dec 07, 2007
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
I went there with a good friend on a Fri. night to chill out after a proper dinner ...

We stayed there for a little while, just for a couple of drinks. Although food seemed tempting, we didn't try any, since we had a full stomach already! Maybe next time ...

Service, atmosphere and the environment was warm and friendly, very busy, but not crowded. No smoking area, but you could smoke right outside the bar, by the side of the escalator.

Yeah, I think a place fro yuppies! It's cool .. I like it! lol

P.S.: I was thinking about trying out their food next time, but after reading the last review ... maybe they were "unlucky" that time round ... oops ...

we got very sick after  Aug 30, 2007
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
food and service was very impressive. opened a bottle of italian wine and was imazed how good it was for less than $300! we ordered some mussels, tiger prawns, tuna skewers, mushrooms n squid and i personally find the tuna exceptional. however, i felt my stomach bloating and my intestines went bloating on the way home. and as soon as i arrived home, i exploded in the toilet. very disgusting water came straight out and for over 30 times i visited the toilet with the same scenes. my boyfriend is suffering from stomachache and my cousin is feeling very sick at the moment. two of us have to stay home today and one is fighting badly at work. oh well, i would never have imagined such yummy food would get me this ill. my lower abdominal is hurting quite bad atm and i have the urge to share this experience and let it out also on openrice (not only the toilet) ;-(
