Decent Food Decent Price at Apleichau Sep 05, 2012
Because of my name called "Bowling", so my friend brought me to a Western restaurant named "Bowls Cafe" which located in Apleichau, Hong Kong South Island.
We went there for dinner on Tuesday night at around 8:00pm. It likes a boutique restaurant, not so big, but the ceiling was very high which I like very much. It can accommodate about 20 pax. Good for anniversary celebration or small group gathering. There were a few couples to enjoy their dinner, some have red wine and some talked softely. It was an ideal place to meet friends or enjoy yourself, reading book and listen to the soft music is another kind of enjoyment.
My friend ordered rid and I ordered fish. The set dinner inclusive salad, garlic bread, soup, main course, dessert and drinks. The food was delicious, I was so surprised there was such a decent Western restaurant in Apleichau, it should be at the Peak, Stanely or Happy Valley.
Parking is very convenient as there are 2 car parks just on the next street of the restaurant, mini bus from Causeway Bay as well. Connecting boat from Aberdeen to Apleichau Main Street which takes about 3 mins ride.
I will definitely visit again and recommended to my friends, especially those live in Hong Kong South!
Last but not least, the restaurant staff was very nice and the service was excellent! Thanks so much for giving me a nice evening :-)

Great meeting place, good food! Jul 29, 2012
Bowls Cafe is a great place to meet friends for dinner. The menu changes frequently so there is always something new to try. I love their cream soups so I usually get the set dinner and the pasta option. Last Friday I had the cream of broccoli soup and risotto with mushrooms and truffles. Everything was perfect, including the creme brulee. Yummy! The set dinner was $118, which included very nice coffee (freshly ground), and an additional $38 for the dessert. While Bowls prides itself on its steaks and other meat dishes, they will make adjustments and even specials for vegetarians. Nice! I find the service is usually great. I don't think you can get a better cup of coffee anywhere on the South side.

Food is good, but customer service is REALLY BAD!! May 12, 2011
Customer Service: Buddha got fire
Went there with frd on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered a braised ox tail with rice and frd ordered teliyaki chicken.
for my braised ox tail with rice, the ox tail is cooked in a hot stone pot with nice wine sauce. beef is tender. So i am happy with it.
For my frd's chicken, frd said the chicken was tender and the sauce is not too sweet.
So we were both satisfied with the food for the price.
HOWEVER, the customer service is very bad. they are not responsive, and they kept taking away your dish even there were half-finished food on them. the only "good" service they had provided was the speed of the bill. while we were still half way finishing our after meal drinks, they gave us the bill signaling we have to leave...what da!!!

Unacceptable service Nov 01, 2009
I have eaten there once and it was OK, by Ap Lei Chau standard, although they missed my order completely and I had to wait half an hour for my breakfast. On my second visit today, the restaurant was full when i got there and I was asked to wait outside, which I patiently did. After a while, I noticed other people who arrived later than me just walked straight into the restaurant and got a table. Apparently when they said wait outside, they had no intention of letting you know when a table became available, so unless you kept an eye on people leaving, you would be left waiting outside forever.
I was furious. I know this is Ap Lei Chau and this is a "Cha Chan Teng" and I can't expect 5 star service, but having a waiting system on a first come first serve basis is the minimum you would expect from any restaurant in HK?
I will never return.
