I’m pretty sure most people had California Pizza Kitchen before since its everywhere and have been around forever. Anyways, I went there last week and was surprised by how good their pizza was. The crust was thin but yet had enough texture and flavor so then it does not taste like plain dough. Beside the crust, the mozzarella cheese was also done perfectly, to the point where when I pulled out a slice the cheese would still be tightly attached to the next piece. I have never been a big fan of pizza but this pizza was done just right for me especially when it comes to the rich flavoring of the toppings.
visit California Pizza Kitchen? If you are still wondering, you need to give it a try yourself! I mean if you are a big fan of hot sauce like me then you will for sure fall in love with this! I think this hot sauce goes best on pizza along with some parmesan cheese so then from one bite you can have all the flavors combined. Overall, the setting was comfortable with great service. Although the food was not cheap, I think it is at a reasonable price. One last thing is to don’t forget to make reservations ahead of time or else you’ll end up waiting for half an hour or more like I did. Table Wait Time: 30 minute(s)

Recommended by my friend, we went to CPK without booking. There were many people waiting when we arrived, guess it took within half hour to be seated. Viewing the menu over and over again, ordered salad, pizza and spaghetti.

Busy Sunday evening, not too long to wait for a table, and our orders were taken quickly. After that, the service slowed down, with our drinks sitting on the counter for a while before being brought over - despite bringing this to the attention of two waiters. We were seconds from getting up and collecting the drinks ourselves. Refills were slow too. We requested the bill early, as our meals arrived so we could make a quite getaway, but we had finished our meals and were left waiting for our change. The food was very nice - the Thai Crunch Salad is consistently good, and the seafood pizza not bad. Since I had a reservation, I didn't have to wait for a table, however our table was pretty much right next to the door and we saw a huge queue not to mention some woman with a mike that kept yelling stuff, so it reminded us of a yum cha place or something -_- Luckily we were a very loud bunch so it did not really disrupt us. So I decided to have my Birthday dinner/party here as I didn't know where else to go, and I thought that it seemed like a good place to go as a group of 8. So we started to order stuff. Since I don't eat meat my friends were very nice and decided to stick with mainly vegetarian food, except for one pizza. We started off with an apetizer of garlic bread. It was sort of thick, but it was still very yummy, maybe it was cuz we were dying of hunger, i'm not sure. It had some chopped up tomatoes to go with it which reminded me of the bruschetta my grandmother makes me. We then realize that we didn't have any water, or any drinks, unlike the other tables which seemed to have complimentary water, so we complained to the waiter and asked for water which we got after about 5 minutes. Refills took ages as we seemed to be in quite an obscure corner and so we were constantly forgotten by the waiters. Next we ordered a mushroom pizza, which I thought was heaven. I absolutely loved it, it was delicious, it tasted different to the Italian pizza I am normally accustomed to, but it was relatively thin (although they had some ultra thin pizzas which we didn't try) and was very cheesy. One problem was that it was sort of warm when it arrived, and not hot so the cheese already started to solidify. not good. But the taste was still good. We also ordered 2 carbonara with no meat (so basically white cheese sauce and peas, hahahah!) and i've got to say it was quite good. It was kind of bland, obviously without the bacon, however it was still very cheesy nonetheless. We then ordered a hawaiian bbq chicken pizza (for the other people, so I don't know how it tasted, but they seemed to like it) and last but not least we also had a 5 cheeses pizza, which was extremely cheese, with molten cheese everywhere, fresh tomatoes and was just heaven. One thing that sort of bugged us was how we told the waiters to divide the pizza up into eighths as they seemed to not be able to count properly and cut them all up weird, with huge pieces and tiny pieces, with a total of 7 pieces. Seriously?! Can you not count and cut equal pieces of pizza?! The best and funniest thing happened, when I asked for my cake to be taken to me. The waiter already had a cake in his hand, with a lit candle. It was a tiny little mango cake. Definitely not my cake, I had a cheesecake. I ask him to fetch my cake, and he replies, i've got it right here. I look at the cake and say, that's not my cake. His face drops. WHAT?! and he instantly blows the candle out and runs off. It was HILARIOUS. Overall it was incredibly cheap. It was about $560 excluding the cake charge of $50, therefore we paid a total of $70 each and each had 3 slices of pizza and a small plate of spaghetti, which was very filling, especially with the cake. We were all so shocked by how cheap this place is, despite the terrible service and have decided to come back very soon. Please remember that the portions here are HUGE. I mean it is an American Italian Restaurant, so bear in mind the American sized portions that your food will come in. Recommended Dish(es):

pizza - base ok, sauce too sweet, no anchovy option, overall pretty average for supposedly a decent pizza place. to be fair we may not have ordered the best pizzas on the menu but the mushroom pizza at Pizza Express was much better, but of course dearer. starter - the hummus dip starter was quite nice, the bread was a bit flimsy and came in pizza triangles - i think you can overdo the pizza bit even in a pizza joint. the service was ok, food came in good time and the waiters were reasonably pleasant. some language issues (waiter had never heard of anchovies) but i guess it is not a popular ingredient for pizza in HK - aaah over time me hopes the delight of salty oily baby sized fish will catch on for pizza lovers in HK - it's not so far a cry from 鹹魚..... For various reasons, one day I ended up missing lunchtime and needed somewhere to eat at 3pm. I found this place! It has a great view for people-watching over Dundas Street and a pretty good tea set deal: around $50 for a pizza and a drink. My pizza arrived one HOUR late, by which time it was 4pm and I was ready to eat the table. It eventually arrived, fresh - of course, I'm guessing they made it completely from scratch after a wait that long - and quite good. The pizza base was a little thick, but the tomatoes were good quality and the cheese had a great, authentic flavour. Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

Had an early dinner and was able to catch their tea time special. My brother ordered their original BBQ chicken pizza and I chose their Hawaiian pizza. Service was extremely slow and we waited a good 25 minutes before our food arrived. I didn't try the BBQ chicken pizza, but there was very little topping, like one small piece of chicken per slice. My Hawaiian looked better, the pineapple was sweet however I found the pizza base to be quite sweet as well which was quite strange. Next time I'll stick to going to the Causeway bay branch. The pizza was a lot better over there.

All the food are hot and nice but not unique or special, but the service is just so-so. It is fairly reasonable in price, cheaper than Pizza Express, but both are similar!

Went to Mong Kok, every where is packed and couldn't find a place for dinner, this shop just opened for business at 6:00pm, therefore we settle down for pizza. The pizza tasted better than what you could normally find in those big brand, where I thought the pizza tasted pretty nice. Very authentic. We order 3 different pizza toppings and a artichoke dip for starter, nice and hot and perfectly seasoned. The food is incredible in here. The service in here does not match the food in my opinion, where I thought the altitude of the staffs can improve and be a bit more caring. Other than that the location of this place could be a little bit tough to find. The overall experience is positive, and I would like to try this place once again. I have visited this busy restaurant few times and i fall in love with its Chocolate Banana Cake which is really very smooth .. and good taste with banana... although i know it should have lot of butter and sugar in it, but it's really smooooth and delicious... must need to reserve stomach space for this dessert....a piece of cake will be charged for nearly $60... I also recommend the pizza with thin bread... it's not crispy style... i love it... it's chewable with very nice toppings... i have chosen italian style with chilly sausage... Salad and spagetti are 'ma ma di'... enjoy!!! bon apetite!

This is a short comment about Mongkok California Pizza Kitchen, I think that their food, service, hygiene and price are fine. As for the bookings I think that they should be more flexible, they have 2 sittings, the 1st sitting is at 6:00pm and the 2nd sitting is around 8:00pm or later. If you book for 6:00pm, they always limit you to stay for only 1 hour and 30 mins. I think that is a bit too short, especially if you are with a gang of more than 4 persons, sometimes you want to eat and talk for a while, certainly that will last for more than 90 minutes. I wish that they can change it to 2 hours. Spending per head: Approximately HKD100 Other Ratings: Taste 4 | Environment 3 | Service 4 | Hygiene 4 | Value for Money 4

Sea (Non-member) | Regularly go to CPK. Have been to all branches. Even though the location is not very nice in MK, but this branch seems to provide the best service. Everyone was working hard. Caring. Response was prompt. Better than Megabox. Better than Times Square. Thumbs up to those who work there.
