If I am lucky I get to eat 大閘蟹 a few times toward the end of the season. This year our first round was from the popular 新三陽 and was good. Second round, we were introduced to 肥仔號. We brought 10+, 1/2 are 陽澄湖 and 1/2 are 太湖, cost ~ $200@. 肥仔 said don't dip into the vinegar if you want to savor the differences. 陽澄湖 has a license tag and 太湖 not. For us, having the opportunity to eat 靚蟹 is hard enough. As long as they are fresh and have plenty of 膏, it's good enough for us. They turns out to be very nice, not all of them 爆膏 but they are all quite decent and this was early December. My favorite are those 白膏.
