First and last time Just OK Jan 06, 2012

This is the first time that I passed by this place and there was no line up. I don't know if it was because it was only 9 degrees outside last night or because it was almost 9pm. I've never had dinner here so I though I would try it.

I went in and sat at the sushi bar and there was already a cup of tea there. I don't know how long it had been sitting there and if it was left over from the person sitting in my seat prior to my arrival. I asked the waitress for a new cup of tea and she didn't look to happy.

They had some specials going on and I ordered 9 pieces of sushi that were on special. The sushi came and didn't seem very fresh but hey, what do you expect for $13/piece

There was no service from the time I sat down till the time I asked for the bill, no one even to come re-fill my tea. The best part of my dinner was probably the ginger, it was cold, fresh and very vinegary.

All in all I would say that it's not a great place but if you're craving for sushi and you just want to dine and dash, you could try. At least I didn't get sick the whole night right I, on the other hand, don't think I would come again.

    A night packed w/ sushiiiii Smile Jan 08, 2011

A night with buddies for pre Xmas dinner here, since we are all Jap dudes, sushi is no doubt the best choice!

By the time we went there, about 7 sth, it's not really packed and so we could get the seats more easily.

Tones of salmon - umm, i'd say so-so only, just average as expected (but some slides are way too thin lar)
Sweet Eggs (warm) - my favourite of this restaurant,it's sweet and it's definately YUM!!
Scallop sushi - great, fresh! but i prefer JUMBO one!
Shrimp tempura - so-so, crispy enough but not surprising for me!

One thing i don't really like is, the style of order has changed and follows 板長=.= that's pretty like stealing our money!

    huffy

Sushi only tasted average, may be because the fish weren’t fresh enough. I can’t understand why there’s always such a long queue outside this restaurant as the food quality was disappointing and the price tag is not cheap.
The most alarming thing was that I saw a fly towards the end of my meal, it hovered around the raw food (which was not covered). Despite the fact that it lingered there for ages non of the staff seemed to care or thought it’s necessary to cover the food. They even pretended to not hear me when I told them that there’s a fly hovering about on the food…… how disgusting, I’ll not go there again!

room for improvement Just OK Oct 19, 2008
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
I go to itamae sushi a lot, and i am usually satisifed with their food
but the one in CWB still has room for improvement

we ordered some salmon, crab stick , salmon foe, eel sushi and a salad
the food was general ok except the salmon sushi
coz the size was unexpectedly small and salmon looked stale!mad
so we requested the waiter to make another one for us
and that one was so much bettershocked
it could improve that actually they can actually do it!!
i hope that it will better next time.

Queue = Delicious?! Just OK Mar 13, 2008
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
To reward my hard work within last week. I went to this sushi place @ 1630 on Sunday.

Supprisingly I saw some ppl waiting outside and it still need me to wait for 6 "tables". After waiting for half an hr. Me and my friend succeed in going in.

The food quality is fair enough. but the price has inflated quite alot. With the new strategy in doing the biz - differentiate for the quality of salmon. I personally think that it degrades the original salmon quality as it wants you to note the difference.

After the "lunch+dinner" i think they have added MSG to either the rice or the soy sauce as it makes me feel very thirsty.

Actually, I dun think it worths to queue for such a long time for this quality and price.

    bad service  May 07, 2007
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
On friday night, i went there with my friend and this is our first time. Their service is totally fail or i better said that they don't really have service at all. Their staff is rude and have no manner(not even have manner). The chef.....non stop talking (they have their mask on, but still is not good to do so), and their uniform is dirty like they haven't washed them for days. We tried so many things but i'll said their food is just OK, just good for some teenager who haven't try something good before. With that kind of price, and eating japanese sushi, many people will go. I won't go there again, since have to wait for so long and with that kind of food and service. Don't want to be "fish belly" again.

Worst Japanaese Sushi Cries Aug 25, 2006
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
My friend bring me there yesterday to the Causeway Bay sushi restaurant because has been told this is one of the most popular sushi shop in town, unfortunately have a unbeliveable experience, for line up in front of the shop that's acceptable and understanding, but take us more than 120 minutes thats is not worth it!

First of all, bad manner with reception and manager, food is so so, nothing special, the most important thing is all their sushi maker is wearing a gloves, which looks clean, but they wearing the same gloves for the whole evening, that's even worst than without the gloves, cause they will clean their hand more often than wearing these dirty gloves.

So please DO NOT waist your time to line up for this restaurant, you can get much better quality and services else where.

EXTREMELY Not Hygenic!!! Cries Aug 22, 2006
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Many people said that it is much more cleaner and safer for a sushi chef to wear gloves when preparing sushi/sashimi. This, however, is the very opposite case.

When I got there at 10:30 pm, there was still a small crowd waiting for seats outside, but I don't have to since I was only one person. When seated, noticed that all the chefs wore gloves. Whether they were preparing rice, cutting fish, pressing sushi, washing pans, picking up dirt from the floor, opening and closing cabinets, etc etc. The worst part of it was they never wash their hands/gloves afterwards. Imagine, if you were not with gloves, and if you have something on your hand, you would notice and wash them off, but the problem with gloves is that you do not feel anything on your hands. The chefs wore the SAME pair of gloves for the whole evening without changing them.

haha.....wonder how many people would got sick????

I only had an order of hirame sashimi and I lost my appetite totally and called for my bill and left.

Conclusion....wearing gloves would only be clean provided if you change them often and wash them as if your own hands.
