I don't usually write reviews but this restaurant is SO BAD that it needs one and I feel compelled to voice my concern to other fellow diners. How this restaurant got so many goods on openrice bewilders me Anyways, the Bad: 1. We made a reservation for 6 people and ended up having to wait 30 minutes before we got our table. Not a good start. 2. When we were ordering the staff were incredibly rude and un-interested and if you asked them questions about the menu while ordering we got pretty much yelled at. 3. We ordered: - 2x Tbone steaks = Dry and chewy - 1x Caeser Salad = The salad leaves were not even cut - 1x Mixed Greens= Bland - 2x Mussels = Overcooked, burnt and hard - 1x Country Fried Steak = Questionable as to whether there was even meat in it as it was basically a fried blob - 1x Lightly Seared Tuna Steak = Hard on the outside and tasteless - 2x Grilled Seabass = The best dish of the night, actually tasted decent and was cooked well - Soup of the day was Cream of Tomato = Basically just an entire carton of cream mixed with barely any tomato 4. We were served our soups, just as we were about to start on our soups both the salads came, and then pretty much two minutes later both the T bones came out. All the dishes barely fit on the table. Basically all three courses came out at once. 5. The 2x Grilled Seabass took over 1 hour to come and by that time all 4 of us had already finished our meals. 6. During the entire dinner the staff were un-attentive and never re-filled our water glasses. The Ok: 1. Price was relatively cheap, but still not worth it for the quality of food and service you get. 2. The Grilled Seabass despite taking 1+ hours to arrive was tasty. I will for sure never return to this restaurant in my lifetime even if i was held at gunpoint. Table Wait Time: 30 minute(s)

Kevor (Non-member) | A little pricey, but the portions are generous and the food is decent for starters we had French onion soup and potato wedges with chilli. and for mains we had a smoked salmon salad and the giant burger. Service was ok, other than not offering us water/drinks, and serving the smoked salmon salad with what we intended to be our starters. the French onion soup which was very nice. Potato wedges with chilli. The potatoes were very soft and smooth which I liked, though my partner would have preferred them a little crunchier, the chilli was sweet and meaty, very nice. The salad was fresh and crisp. I felt the thousand island dressing a little creamy/heavy, but it was acceptable. The smoked salmon was good. By this point we were quite full as we didn't realise the portions would be so generous The giant burger came last, it was giant, very juicy and cheesy, the meat a little on the undercooked side. My partner enjoyed it, though I found that there was a slight taste of the undercooked meat which wasn't great. It was served with potato wedges and salad which we took home. We wanted desert, but we were too full by this time Overall, I would recommend this place, though I would have to be a little hungrier next time.

After trying this restaurant, I found that the service is acceptable as least we can change the drink after ordered without a long face; and the staff is honest as they give me back $100 when I discovered that they have changed $100 short after I have picked them into my wallet.

Tonight, I decided to make another attempt, hoping that a Monday dinner will be a less busy night for the restaurant. Yet, I only managed to book 8:30pm. I arrived at 7:15, hoping someone who has booked the first round wouldn’t show up then I would get a seat. Luckily, the manager arranged two seats for me and my boyfriend at 7:30. Wooow Then we looked at the SPECIALS on the wall. Quite some nice choices! We picked $388 USDA Dry Aged Rib Eye. This is a really nice dish. Very tender beef. Nicely grilled, with some sea salt placed at the dish side to highlight the flavour. THIS IS IMPRESSIVE! One more impressive bit is the service. Despite the hustle in the small restaurant, the boss managed to come over and ask if the steak is good and suggest us to eat as soon as it is served. Very courteous boss Then we also ordered a Fish and Chips set dinner ($78). It came at the same time as the steak. So by the time we finished the steak and started the fish, it’s not hot enough. I would say this is just an average dish. As everyone has suggested the Ice-chocolate is a must try, we order that as well. Not bad, but not extraordinarily nice. The dessert drew a very nice conclusion to the dinner. We ordered a piece of blueberry cheesecake ($28). It’s not too sweet and the texture of the cake is just right! All in all, despite the difficulty in booking seats, this is a highly recommendable restaurant. I will definitely come back to try other dishes. Keep it up. Don’t let the food quality deteriorate after the place becomes popular, which is a very common development for popular restaurants. P.S. You have to bring cash to dine. They do not take Credit Card. I came to this restaurant before with my husband and found that one of their waiters (may be he's the boss)'s attitude/approach was very bad (just like the other raters said that always asked whether you have booked the table or not)...... This time, I thought I came very early (not yet 6pm and every table is empty, then I walked in. Then again that waiter asked me if I made reservation, i said no, then he brought me to the high chair table and I told him i wanted to have dinner.... and he said the other tables were all fully booked and he found that I was not satisfied, then he said if i can return the table to him before 7pm, then it will be fine) - Of course, I was alone and it should be okay to finish in one hour unless their cook was slow. I am glad that their business is good but in service industry, you can have a better attitude to tell people in a nice way and if they only serve only for booking, then I think they don't need to have a ground floor venue. Altough the food quality was not bad, there is no point to suffer from such attitude! Already told myself, i won't come to this restaurant and no more chance for them.(Actually we suffered the same last time and I should listen to my husband's advice to blacklist them Date of Visit: Apr 28, 2010 Spending per head: Approximately HKD80(Dinner)

Very straightforwardly, I wonder at the attitude of this restaurant. My friends and I come all the way from Kowloon and Aberdeem with a 8:15pm resarvation for a lovely dishes here By the way, we desired to wait for a sit, just like others walk-in eater, but the boorish waiter of the restuareant is so mean to us which devastated our mood to be dinning. Fortunately, there are much more fine food and nice service restaurants are situated in Yuen Long, where I spent an enjoyable night here Date of Visit: Apr 23, 2010

Came all the way to Yuen Long just to try this restaurant out. Small, cozy bistro with outside seats that could be found in a random corner at downtown Manhattan. Not quite matching the streets of Yuen Long to be honest but whatever. Decor was alright and I'd love to be seated in more comfy seats but again, whatever. Ambiance was generally pleasant and laid-back. Menu contained quite a lot of choices. Servers were professional and attentive. And oh, fashion designer William Tang was dining with his friends outside btw. Cajun Prawns ($68): Prawns came with honey mustard sauce and a side of greens. Well seasoned and flavorful prawns with just the right texture. Upgraded our steaks to combos with $25 each. I only took a sip of the onion soup but found it pretty rich. Salad came with spinach, arugula, romaine lettuce and a small mix of onions, cucumbers and pine nuts. A splash of thousand island on top of the fresh veggies. Great starter for the upcoming steaks. Angus Sirloin ($188), Angus Rib-eye ($198): American portion and plating. Medium requested and came out medium indeed. Tender and juicy steaks. Impressed. Enjoyed the grilled zucchini/ bell pepper/ mashed potatoes too. It would further enhance my experience for sure if I ordered a glass of cab as well, seriously. Cheesecake Bites were nothing to wow for; passable. The Hot Chocolate was just one of those Cadbury hot chocs, but hearty enough to end my meal. Yuen Long is a long drive but I'll definitely come back. I peaked at the next table and found the burger quite appealing and authentic. Oh well, probably foie gras and burger next time.

I booked the table 3 days in advance. It's the first time my boyfriend I went there. Yesterday we arrived at around 7pm and sat outside. o we ordered : 1. T-bone set 2. new york cheesecake 3. combo (fish fillet, potato) I like the tomato soup. it's so yummy. It tasted like lobster soup! The T-bone set was really good and it was comparatively cheaper than other restaurants. The cheesecake is fine. Aprile (Non-member) | I was there and tried their sauteed mussels with wine sauce about two months ago. It was the best mussels I have ever had (and I have had my share of sauteed mussels in my life time). A lot of places serve really small mussels as appetizers and the cooked mussels are often shrunk and dry and chewy (not in a good way). But the ones I had at New York Cafe & Bar serves were cooked to perfection. They were huge and tender and juicy. I soaked the bread in the wine sauce and it was to die for. So, two thumbs up... way up! And I certainly look forward to my next visit and trying their other items.

Kenny (Non-member) | I eat here around once or twice a month, best choice is Char-grilled Tenderloin. Very juicy steak, i like it medium ware so my mouth is full of blood and juice. Service there is nice except the owner (audi driver) sometimes has i little attitude problem but not with me. I've tried so many steak places in HK this is definately top 3 for steaks! Price is decent for Yuen Long. If u want good service ask for Alan or the short hair girl there they're very nice people. hm... writing this comment is making me hungry again.. let me call some friends and go there again tonite~! if u say they dont' make good steaks, i am sure u never had real steaks before. As usual, I have regular "lunch meeting" with my ex-colleague this Wednesday afternoon. One of them suggested us to have a try at this small cafe in Yuen Long Town. As all of us were a bit tired of the used-to-be restaurants to hold our lunch meeting, we welcomed for a change. Environment: This is a small cafe located near the Castle Peak Road (Yuen Long Section). It is easily identified by its red canvas eaves. We had a small round table of four. The space was very limited that I didn't sit comfortably during the whole lunch. Two LCD TV were installed inside the cafe showing NOW TV programmes. Taste: I had roasted chicken with Caesar salad. It was a small portion so I was able to finish the whole things on the plate within 10 minutes. Despite the small portion of food, the roasted chicken was very good. The chicken was juicy but not greasy. The veggies were fresh with appropriate amount of seasoning and cheez. There's a flaw regarding the free drinking water. It was said to be water with little lemon. But it smelt weird. I sipped some and didn't touch it again. Service: As it's a small cafe, it was adequated manned with 3 attendants there. Price: The price is reasonable. The set lunch costs me $38 with soup of the day, a dessert (a scoop of ice-cream) and a drink. That also explains why the food comes with such a small portion. Cleanliness: Clean and tidy. Spending per head: Approximately HKD40 Other Ratings: Taste 4 | Environment 2 | Service 3 | Hygiene 3 | Value for Money 3
