Today, I tried the potato cheese bread which was freshly baked! It was so warm and hot and simply delicious!!! It exceeded expectations!! THe potato was mashed, with nice creamy texture and cheese. The filling was very generous! Others which I have tried and have consistently been good: -Green tea cake: light, fluffy, soft! -German Pudding: Improved version of HK egg tarts with chocolate at the bottom -Cheese cake -Herb and vegetable (purple cabbage) bread: herb taste is delicious!!! goes very well together The cashier lady is super friendly and helpful too, always willing to tell me what is new and giving me the names of the breads. Although it is small, I think it is one of the best bakeries in Hong Kong! Recommended Dish(es):

Actually I’ve been to TIT*F twice before, but both visits were made after 7:30 pm so only plain white bread was left in the bakery. Finally my third visit here was fruitful! It was on a weekday (around noon time) -- at the moment I stepped into the bakery, I was like “wow... what a great variety of bread and cakes in such a petite bakery!” I loved their idea of wrapping most of the bread and cakes individually in plastic bags since it looked much more hygienic, especially when the bakery’s facing the road and the door’s wide open all the time. Feeling a bit sick on that day, I wanted something plain only, but it wasn’t a bad idea after all since I could really focus on tasting the flavour and texture of the bread itself. A pack of colorful buns then came into my sight. Costing only $10 for three different flavours?! I picked it up without hesitation and headed towards the cashier…then I noticed a tray of lovely egg tarts!
I went straight home from TIT*F in order to devour the little bread & tart asap, and the first thing I did when I got home, was to put the pudding into oven for reheating. Meanwhile I opened the bag of buns and was able to sniff the refreshing aroma of herbs immediately. Tempted to put the herb bread into my mouth first, but I ended up starting off with the “plainest” piece of bread (which is the sesame bun): the dough was considerably dense but incredibly soft! The white sesame on the top was finely roasted to a golden color, conveying both a pleasant aroma and palatable after-taste, as well as enhancing the flavour of the bun. Great!
herb, green tea, sesame
I loved the herb bread most though, as it was full of fresh, herbal flavour and had a bit of “chewiness + sponginess” in addition to the soft texture. It was terrific and I could say this is one of the best piece of herb bread I’ve ever eaten! Definitely worth a try!

This shop has been on my go list for ages, finally made it, but I only got one of the two items I wanted. The bread with herbs and purple cabbage was sold out. The shop keeper was very helpful and nice. The German pudding I got resembles an egg tart, and looks like those egg tarts from Yamazaki bakery with a deep cup. The taste of the filling and texture was like Creme Brulee, except that it was lighter and not so sweet. At the bottom of the German pudding, I found some melted chocolate chips. The German pudding reminds me of Mark and Spencers egg custard tarts with nutmeg on the top, except the filling is much firmer for Marks the Spencers tart.

when i wondered what to eat in a rush, i passed this bakery & attracted by the crowd inside & the smell of bread. There were quite a lot of choices, i wish i knew this shop months ago when i could not eat Eggs. they actually indicated individual item contains or Not contain eggs. besides ordinary items, also some bags of buns so u can grab & go. I took seseme bun since it looked good. the seseme smell good & I guess there was an extra process as it tasted better than other bakery. bread was soft & good Takeaway Wait Time: 1 minute(s)

Came here after a nice buffet dinner in Causeway Bay - simply canNOT resist its goodness even with a full stomach! I always like their green tea items ever since I have developed an unusual liking to (basically) all things green tea upon coming home to my dear HK. I recommend the following items that you better try if you catch them on the shelf, as they aren't always available: 1. Green tea red bean loaf ($16) It's a nice big loaf of soft green tea goodness, folded with red beans and thin layers of semi-dry cream cheese on the inside. The bread base is neutral, of a very mild sweetness. I like to enjoy it with a glass of cold milk. 2. Chestnut cream milk bread ($13 half or $26 whole) The filling is so rich with 2 layers - one being sweetened mashed chestnut, and the lower layer a custard-like, but drier, substance. Together it's smooth and velvety, a treat itself! It's a bit like the French chestnut spread (the ones sold in jars, made famous by Bonne Maman), but with a dairy touch to it. The bread is sweeter than the green tea bread. Perhaps a bit too sweet for some people, but acceptable in small amounts. 3. Green tea red bean cake ($9) Tit F somehow has interesting cake shapes; perhaps it's easier slicing it this way as a mass production technique (imagine baking a huge square pan and then slicing it parallel). anyhow, the cake base has some moisture to it but is not greasy like the blueberry cake (see my previous review); this is better than the latter. All the items I tried here are of real substance - it's really noticeable and makes the whole culinary experience a lot more enjoyable. What I mean by "real substance" is that you can tell they use real ingredients, and generously as well. It's not full of corn syrup, colors of the rainbow, long-named preservatives etc. etc.; and everything is so hygienically packed. The smiley lady was at the cashier again. She's really like an archetypal bakery person - think the ones from cartoons like anpanman! More Tit F adventures real soon.

i went to tit*f for a light lunch today again.....after trying out the disappointing mooncake, i have decided to buy something more normal to avoid pissing myself off again. i had a hard time choosing what i should buy-tit*f has just too many special and tempting bread, toast and buns on its shelf. at last i ended up buying three pieces of wheat garlic toast ($10 for 3 pieces with size of a palm) plus an almond crisp thingy which costed 9. and tit*f has never let me down(except last time). the toast was incredible-it was not exactly 'toasted' because its still soft in texture, but the garlic paste on top was just all right. the bread itself is not too dry despite being wheat. it was gooooooooood. as for the almond crisp thing, it was like wow. i actually dont like almond flakes too much. yet the crisp thing was like a pastry with a crunchy 'pie' crust plus an almond paste-like filling and flakes on top. it was terrific with so many textures. a ten out of ten!!!!the bread was certainly a bargin, esp the almond crisp thing. not sure if they have it everyday, but do remember to grab a piece when you happen to see them. they might be limited items-who knows?

'mookcake' is no longer an exclusive item of traditional brands like maxims, kee wah and stuff. nowadays you can buy mooncakes from starbucks, HD and even mrs fields, you name it. despite that fact tht i have read abt mookcakes from tit*f(thanks to openrice.com), it was still a surprise for me to SEE the mookcake at the store. i wanted to buy myself a bun or something for lunch-as i am on a diet, i was looking for something less fattening. then i spot the really mini mookcakes right next to the german pudding. $8 for one. i immediately handed over $8 for my lunch. it was indeed very small, and looked nothing like a traditional mooncake you can get from maxims-as a matter of fact it looked kinda 'fusion' and was, sadly, burnt, thus was more black than golden brown. the mooncake left greasy marks on the plastic bag while i was trying to take it out for a bite. yuckkkkk. i finished the mooncake within 4 small bites. it was kinda satisfying because it was quite 'heavy'. however, i dont think anyone will pay $8 for something as small as this. plus, people will buy mooncakes or chocolate fudges but probably NOT chocolate fudge mooncakes with salted egg yolk inside. i guess next time i should stick to the buns and the toasts.

let's forget about its hilarious name for a second - it's a bakery with a solid variety of baked goods of the "western-style HK" genre. my 4th visit here after a nice dinner in tai hang on saturday night: loaf-size green tea chocolate cream cheese bread ($11 half/ $22 whole): it has a semi-crunchy, semi-soft crust on the top and is dome shaped. (like the ugly dome bread at starbucks, but about 2x bigger) the bread itself is a form of art - the chocolate and green tea dough blends together, forming layers of the two flavors. the filling is very soft and a bit spongy, with a mild cream cheese taste. it is dryish and slightly grainy, a bit like japanese-style cheesecake. the crust is a bit like the ones on pineapple buns texture-wise but not overly sweet. i dig it! small green tea red bean bread ($3.5) have tried the bigger version and prefer that but it was late when i came in and this was the only size available. SMALL, BUT PERFECTLY FORMED!! there's a cutesy cream cheese filling on top (tastes the same as the filling in the aforementioned bread), and i LOVE the pungent green tea flavor of the dough. and the dough is sooo incredibly soft with good form!! the adzuki bean paste is surprisingly flavorful, somehow it tastes much more "red bean" than usual! and i love how the paste is not a smooth, fine ground - you can actually taste the real beans and the skin!! need to buy it in bulk next time! blueberry cake ($5) a teeny little cube the size of a tennis ball. the flavor alone is good, and the sweetness is just about right, but it was too sticky to my liking - the whole cake was very moist, the texture was a bit like rum-soaked christmas cake, but a lot softer. enjoyed the blueberry jam in the middle the most. bites of blueberry seeds in it - love the "wholesome-ness", not artificial blueberry flavored gel. but I don't like this cake much. only tried the 3 this time. wanted to get the soymilk cake but it wasn't on the shelf. must visit again soon! also the cashier lady was very friendly. she actually thanked me for my purchase and said goodbye!

While another overrated bakery just a few blocks up in Tai Hang is flooded with cake lovers, This small joint is located right next to the Central Library. Awesome location and even better is the range of choices from cakes to bread to cookies and delectable treats you hardly find anywhere else. Ought to give praise to the unique selections here. Organic soy milk cake is fluffy and lightened with beaten egg whites; German Pudding, aka my no.1 favorite, is a play rendition on custard tarts (egg tart)-- with the filling slightly more wobbly and softly set, The pudding itself lies inside the shortbread crust while at the bottom you'll finish with something of a surprise. Breads are more on the nutritious-folks with plenty of rye bread and health breads on the shelves. But beware they don't last long on the shelves as the items all ended up flying off the shelves at around 4 pm (school's out and the store is crowded with students and you may see a short queue outside) Cheesecakes aren't their best, but if you favour something on the milky side, I'd suggest "snow cake", which is a small block of coconut-coated pudding much like tofu, except it took my breath away on the first bite. Surprisingly the coconut does not interfere with the soft milky taste and they compliment each other just so strongly! A must try for dairy lovers! If you happen to swing by the Central Library stop by over there for a quick fix. They also sell wonderful grissini bread sticks, squid ink buns and sweet buns with chestnut filling! maybe maybe it's coz of the high expectation, got both its green-tea flavoured bun with red bean paste and a scoop of cheese on top, the flavour's good yet can't say it's superb, the green tea isn't masked by the sweetness of the paste and the cheese on top did give a little surprise, however, the piece isn't nicely blended, dun really offer layers of texture i had expected, however, it juz costs 3 bucks..so... rite the other one i pick seems like a pretty healthy one, whole wheat bun with pumpkin paste, again it's not nicely blended, it did offer a sense of healthy treat, but dun think it would be a great hit among the others.
