Afternoon Tea Just OK Mar 19, 2010
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
After visiting the family doctor, we went to Ocean Terminal for refreshment. We ordered two afternoon tea sets. Mine is tofu cheesecake and my husband got assorted sandwich. Both of us chosen the iced coffee.

The tofu cheesecake doesn't taste really "tofu". The assorted sandwich took almost 20 minutes to deliver our table. However, both taste really good. Oh, the iced coffee was really good too. I think we can come again for the assorted sandwich. The final bill was HK$121 for two afternoon tea sets.

After shopping in Harbour City, my wife and I went to this Panash. Remeber that, the day before I went to US (a year ago), we came here for the same afternoon tea.

No matter the food, services, appearance, taste, all came worse. probably no next time.mad

later, i found that quarterdeck or habuti are both better choice. similar $ but better harbour view. smile

Today is Sunday, I've continued my coffee hunt in TST area. My plan was to pay Creama a visit but their shop closes on Sunday, so I'd to talk a pretty long walk to Ocean Center wishing to try the espresso at Dabeilleul (I was hoping to get Babedolphin's reply in time).

Finally I arrived at Dabeilleul, greeted by a lovely lady and I was almost ready to order an espresso. Maybe the long walk, I just didn't feel right at that moment or Dabeilleul's espresso bar is missing something. I changed my mind at the very last minute and head east to the terminal.

There I found Habitu and this Panash Bakery AND CAFE... yoho! I felt like I could use a big drink and a real sandwish. The price looks right. I always enjoy watching the brewing process, I watched the syphonist (barista) for a while through the big glass before I seated myself.

Arr... they've both espresso, siphon and cold brew. I don't agree with the way the syphonist brews (she didn't wait for the boil before she placed the upper chamber) so I ordered an Ice Coffee. It's cold brew and I thought it couldn't be bad with cold brew.

chopstick I am a little disappointed with the Ice Coffee, it has very little aroma compared to the cold brew at UCC or Fong Da Coffee (in Taipei). I guess it's the coffee blend's problem or they've not allowed the cold drip to ferment over 24-36 hours. I usually do not add creamer to cold brew, but as you can see I did this time to improve the taste. sad

chopstick OK... forget about the coffee. The New York Cheese Cake tastes good but it's more like German Cream Cheese than New York Style. Club sandwich is in good size, very satisfying. The bread is soft and tasty.

exprss my opinion  Oct 16, 2005

seeing so many bad comments of this restaurant, i want to say sth for this restaurant.i have tried this reataurant with my frds before and i found what i experienced is totally different from what others said.

first, there is no doubt that the price is a bit expensive yet, reasonable.the taste is nice e.g.the clam pasta.

second, the service is great.all the staff show their welcome and willingness to serve us.they always have a big smile on their face.they are very patient when taking the order.

third,i want to express my opinion regarding the waitress who don't know clearly the food they provided.yes, it is a bit unbelievable to tell others that a waitress doesn't even know thay had provided a drink called'blue mountain'. but, it is obvious that the waitress has no enough experience. nowadays we always say to give chances for the youngsters but do hong kong ppl give??

moreover, regarding the previous entry, the customers always blame the rude service. though i don't know the fact, but i believe that what service is given depends on the customer themselves. that means, if u are rude, how can the waitress be nice and polite to you? if you are demanding, how can the waitress tolerate?

why don't we learn to appreciate instead of blaming others??

    Couldn't agree more  Oct 08, 2005

Panash (Ocean Terminal) is really bad, especially their service.

I had very bad experience at the restaurant, having tea with my mom one fine afternoon.

The waitress was very reluntant to take the order. She's very very rude, and seemed to know
nothing about the food and drinks they provide.
I ordered a cup of "Blue Mountain" for my mom and she said, "What Blue Mountain? We don't have that." I was mad, pointed at the menu and asked her, "No Blue Mountain? What's this then...."

I won't go there again, and will ask my friends not to visit there too.

Another good experience Smile Nov 18, 2004

I had not been here since a long time. During its opening...I was here nearly every weekend and got bored.

Having lunch with my little girl on Monday, it was another good experience. My little girl had the kid menu....egg omelet wrapping the rice inside....mixed with white sauce...(I requested that as my little princess does not like tomato sauce)...on its side, have a small serving of french fries...and a bacan wrapped round a half sausage....Turn out, the fuzzy prinecess ate up 80% of the servings...to my surprise!

I had a set lunch...Vegi Lasagne. Just the right portion and tasty as well. With a cup of cream soup, piece on garlic bread.

The lunch ended with a cup of nice coffee...

    Satisfaction !

Since the bread is just so so...decided to go for the cafe.

It turned out to be much better on the food. My husband had the fried chicken on open sandwich. The tomato sauce on the sandwich is great and tasty. Chicken is tender with some of the salad on top. To me is a well balanced meal which tasted good.

My daughters had the linguini with mushroom and salmon steak...em... Linguini just ok not too attractive. But the size is good and I guess I like the garlic toast that comes with the meal. The salmon steak was better than expected. The portion is quite generous and nicely fried all over. As for myself...I had the citrus salad, not bad and definitely for ladies who is on diet.
I added $30 ( I think) then I had soup (in a tea cup..so is just a mouthful!) a bread basket (only 5 small buns) and a fabulous cup of coffee.

The bread is so average that it does not worth mentioning....However, the coffee is not bad at all! The best "course" of the meal!

Will go again and tried out the tea set and enjoy the coffee again.

The food is slightly above average. The waitress are very friendly yet too busy to meet all customers' calls instantly!
