We went here last night after attending the lame lunar new year parade. All I really wanted was a place to sit where ill-mannered people weren't constantly shoving me, but it turned out to be pretty good food.We ordered: vegetable samosas, chicken makhani, chicken vindaloo, and garlic naan.Samosas: strong flavors of cinnamon and ginger-- garam masala Crispy, flaky crust, but a somewhat mushy interior without much flavor. 6/10Chicken makhani: I'm never one on the really rich dishes, this was my wife's choice. It seemed like a good rendition of the dish. She gives it an 8/10.Chicken vindaloo: I asked for 'extra spicy' and they delivered-- I sweated alot and had to order some extra water! The chicken wasn't fall-apart tender, but it wasn't dry either. Firm yet yielding, I liked it. The potatoes were a little disappointing. The spice, however, was amazing. I ate every drop of it. 9/10Garlic naan: a little on the 'bready' side, nicely moist with oil but not greasy, even-handed on the garlic. 7/10The service was friendly and fast. There was live music-- I'm not sure all of it was traditional. I could've swore one of the songs was that Poe song 'Angry Johnny' but in Hindi (or Urdu, I can't tell these things). Anyway, the music was fun and upbeat and the musicians looked like they were having lots of fun. It was more entertaining than anything that happened at the entire new year's parade.I've been to Bombay Dreams on several occasions and I'd say this place is better (though operated by the same people, of course, so probably not much better). Final score: 8/10

Bombay Dreams in TST, now called Tandoori Nights, has become my favorite place for Indian lunch buffet. I have been here more than 10 times and have never had a bad experience. The setting is very comfortable and nicely decorated, the food is very good, and the service is always friendly. Compared to similar Indian buffet restaurants, it certainly is much cheaper without the appearance of being cheap, if you know what I mean. Fine dining on a budget? Pretty damn close!Their buffet offerings change from day to day, but rarely fail to impress. Attractively arranged and with a good variety, I always head back 4 or 5 times, at least! Naan is made fresh to order, and is nicely chewy with a crispy edge. Most of their curries are quite mild although be prepared for some heat. The spice tends to accumulate on your palate after a few dishes . In that case, I recommend a cool Lassi, a smooth and slightly sweet yogurt drink that will readily douse the heat.Their dinner prices are pretty standard, and I never fail to get the Chicken Tikka Lababdaar, a terrific tomato/onion-based curry chicken. Highly highly addictive! Don't order this unless you are prepared to be compelled to look for it on every Indian menu you come across for the rest of your life! As an added bonus, there is usually live Indian music in the evenings. Great for bringing a date!Their weekend brunch has a few more items cooked to order, brought fresh to your table, so the price is a bit higher, but it's the weekend, so splurge!Usually, to get good food in HK, you have to put up with a little gruffness. Not so here, the service is always friendly and attentive. Anything you don't understand? They will be happy to explain or give you suggestions.Tandoori Nights is a comfortable cheery place, tastefully decorated with great food and atmosphere at a very reasonable price... a rarity in HK, and especially so in TST. I will be coming back again and again...
