As well as Tai O, Lamma Island also offers fresh Handcut fries at the Lamma Grill.

I already had lunch so stopped by just for fries.

When I went to order the fries, you could see a tray of freshly cut fries ready to be fried.

The fries were piping hot when they arrived and I put my favourite salt and vinegar on the fries.

The fries were delicious, with crisp skin, delicious starchy potato inside with a hint of sweetness.
They tasted perfect with salt and vinegar.

While the fries were divine, the biting insects were hell, I was bitten at least eight times before I finished the fries hence the low rating for the environment.

I have eaten at the Lamma Grill about four times and have to say...WOW, this place is serving up some of the best grill in Asia, real authentic ribs, giant stacked juicy burgers, fries as big as your thumb... the steaks are unbelievable too... the chef told me he uses a sous vide method - probably not that many grill joints going to this kind of effort...
Anyway, all in all, i would recommend the Lamma Grill and you should get yourself there.

Good burger and fries Smile Nov 26, 2012

We planned to hike all around Lamma on Saturday, so we thought a big comfort food meal was called for. Lamma Grill has an enticing menu, but I just couldn't resist a cheeseburger and fries.

chopstickThe burger was good. Nice and meaty, but a little drier (as opposed to juicy) and more grilled-tasting than you commonly get. It had what I took to be shredded cheddar melted on top, and in satisfying quantities. I got mine with pickled jalapenos, which actually had some kick, but I wish there was lettuce and tomato on there too. The mustard seemed a little 'off'-- but maybe there was just too much of it? Still, I liked the burger, it was satisfying, and I ate it wolfishly. B+

chopstickFries. These were fat fries cooked nice and tender like a baked potato, but greasier and nicely salted. Think 5 Guys, if you know what that is. I'll have to disagree with HK Epicurus below, sometimes 'soft' fries are warranted; my wife thought these were the best fries she'd had in Hong Kong. I wouldn't go that far. A-

We were able to get stools on the patio outside... nothing like a burger from a paper bag out in the drizzly afternoon. B+

Don't know Lamma Island that well, but I can spot a Sous Vide machine from far away! This shop is apparently quite new and selling hearty food like Grilled Baby Ribs, Hand Cut Fries, or Pulled Pork Burgers, etc. Chef is from Canada and seems to know a lot about food!

    .

Ribs are Sous Vide cooked for 20 hours 1st, before being finished off on the Grill.

    .

Hand Cut Chips - Double Fried, but they came out a little too soft for us. I know fries don't have to be crispy all the time, but I still think for the HK market, they had better play safe and make them a little more crispier!

    .

Finished Product - BBQ Baby Back Ribs
These were quite tender and had a good pork taste. Thought the marinade didn't really penetrate that much into the ribs, and it could do with more sauce though! But the texture was textbook perfect !

    .

    Coleslaw.

Very impressive new Take Away available in Lamma Island! What impressed me the most was the clean surroundings, the obvious attention to detail and the delightful food!

I had a burger (Lamb), husband had the ribs with chips, both were devoured in minutes (much to the disgust of my dog who had banked on having at least some of the offerings). To test the theory whether this had to be a one off, we went back the next day and had the salmon dinner and a chicken burger. Glad to report that the quality of food was consistently brilliant and delicious!

The menu promises many more happy visits! I cannot wait to try the pulled pork sandwich, the Bratwurst....
