We went to good old Grappa's to celebrate a friends birthday. As usual the place was packed, and the atmosphere was very loud and animated, but this is what I love about Grappa's. We made a reservation for seven and were seated promptly without any waiting time. The waiter asked us if we were planning on drinking and we politely declined. She seemed very displeased and took away our glasses very quickly in a semi rough manner. We placed our orders and the food came very soon after. We ordered everything to share. Appetizers:
This was overall a very disappointing dish considering the price. First, it was not hot when it arrived at our table. Secondly, most of the shells were empty. Thirdly, one of my friends said the soup base was very thin and lacked any real flavour.
These were very crispy and hot. I especially loved the fried seaweed that complemented this dish. The portion was excellent too. However, what impressed me the most was the decision to serve this dish with a light mustard as opposed to the traditional tartar sauce. The combination was refreshing and splendid. Mains:
I think all my friends would agree that this was the best dish of the evening. The striking black colour of the fettuccine from the squid ink made the presentation of this course most appealing. The overall combination of all the ingredients was perfect. The sauce was very creamy, and an abundant number prawns was cooked into the dish, which was lovely. The prawns were big and well cooked. An excellent dish.
This was not too creamy, but I thought it lacked sufficient bacon bits. It was good, but not brilliant, and it was not very hot.
This dish is served with a plentiful amount of seafood. The risotto is cooked very well, very chewy and the sauce is not overpowering. The overall combination is excellent and the taste is impeccable.
The presentation of this was not very appealing. There appears to be large chunks of seafood everywhere, and the tomato sauce was very sour. Once again, this dish was not piping hot when it was served. When I have had this before, it was much better.
The pizza was quite small, but it was nice and hot. One friend commented that it was over-seasoned. The parma ham was applied nicely to the pizza, in that it did not fall off easily. Another comment is that if you do not like black olives, this pizza is not for you. Overall, I had a great time with my friends. Some of the dishes were disappointing, but most of the food was decent. I will definitely come back though, because I have many other dishes which I still really enjoy. Supplementary Information: The great thing about Grappa's is that you have the option to change your pasta to whole wheat if you want. All you have to do is ask your waiter and they will happily answer your request. I think its wonderful that you can have the option to be more healthy.Recommended Dish(es):

Grappa’s Italian is a home-style Italian restaurant located in Pacific Place Shopping Mall. It is a great place for a relaxed and casual meal. The restaurant also delivers fresh bake bread to all diners. The menu has included a lot of classic home style Italian pasta for you to choose! Cuisine: Italian Food rating: 3/10* Service: 4/10 Ambiance: 5/10 Price: HK$110pax * Food Rating: 6/10 is equivalent to 1 Michelin star, 8/10 to two Michelin stars, and 9/10 or above to three Michelin stars Carbonara Pancetta Linguine (3/10) The sauce was the very nicely made, perfectly season, yet was not over power by the milk and cream. However, It didn’t feel like I was eating Pancetta, perhaps normal bacon was use to pretend higher class of bacon. The Linguine was cooked to perfection, al dente. But, somehow, there were couple penne, in the Carbonara! If the Chef can be slightly more careful to what he was doing, it would be greatly appreciated.
3/10
It was a late afternoon; I was carving for pasta. Grappa’s definitely did the job before the movie session! I was genially impressed with the quality of food, great taste at a great price! It has been quite a while since I last had my lunch with C. Though we share the same account but due to different schedules, it is not very often that we dine together. Therefore, it is always pleasurable for us to try out different restaurants together: one being a photographer and the other being the writer.... We decided to pay a visit to Grappa's for lunch after our drawing lesson. C tried out the restaurant with her friend before and she highly recommended the pasta at Grappa's. Since we both were pasta lovers, so why not? Situated at the Pacific Place, you could imagine that Grappa's being nothing less than a middle-high class restaurant. All I hoped was that the food worth the money. As we walked into the restaurant, to my surprise, it was quite a traditional atmosphere. With westerners being part of the majority of customers and the busy kitchen operating at the peak of a Saturday's lunch hour, everything seemed so perfectly like a decent restaurant to me. The waiters were extremly helpful and nice - with a smile on their faces being a bonus, of course.
If you are looking for a place to get some good pasta, I would say Grappa's quite a decent one. Yet if you are looking for something more original and special in its own cooking of Italian food, I wouldn't recommend you coming to Grappa's. Simply because of its location being at Pacific Place had increased the prices of the food than necessary. To me, I much prefer places like Al Dente and other traditional Italian restaurants in Soho, Central. - Y Recommended Dish(es):

Went to Pacific Place to watch Super 8 and had dinner beforehand there. Original plan was Dan Ryan's but finaly changed to Grappa's as both of us want to have nice pasta. Have been here for many times, and always love it. No matter lunch, happy hour or dinner, quality of service and food is good. I had the penne with lobster in creamy tomato sauce, and my friend had my favourite Seafood Spaghetti, plus sharing an appetizer of salmon, 2 large house white for each of us (for house wine, they offer small and large size to choose), what a great combination of happy hour and dinner The pasta with lobster cannot compare with Gold where I always order this dish, but for it's price here, indeed very good. Portion is quite big, so for 2 people, to avoid wasting food, better to order 2 mains and 1 appetizer, rather than 2. Pizza here is very good too, I like the BBQ one, yummy! Can finish half of it by myself.

Many of the restaurants in Pacific come and go, especially the Western ones. The location where Zelo is now used to be La Fourchette, Cafe de Paris and whatever else. Grappa's however has been there as long as I remember. It's not an exciting restaurant but it delivers a consistency that you look for if you are meeting someone for lunch on a work day. That is why it is always full on the weekdays and if you try to book on the day, you wouldn't get a table. My friend booked over a week in advance and so she asked for one of the booths that sits four people. There were 3 of us and we each chose a 4 course executive lunch set. 2 of us chose roast vegetables to start and pasta with prawns for main course. One friend chose Caesar's salad and roast chicken. My roast vegetables salad was better than expected. It had roasted vegetables like courgette and aubergines and there was a balsamic vinegar like dressing, healthy and tasty. My friend's Caesar's was small and dry, I guess shouldn't go to an Italian restaurant for Caesar's salad, she learnt. The portions were smaller than I remembered and I guess I haven't been to Grappa's for a year, they may have found out that most people cannot finish a 4 course meal for lunch if the portions are big. As for main course, our prawn spaghetti in spicy olive oil dressing was also much smaller, a manageable size. The prawns were plump and juicy, even for someone not always too keen on prawns, have to say they were well cooked and fresh. The spaghetti was al dente but not as hard as those of Cova which some Hong Kongers find too hard no matter how authentic that may be. So I really enjoyed my pasta.
The friend who ordered Roast chicken said it was spectacularly good and if she came again, she will order it again. I have to say they now present the dishes very nicely too, nicer than before where it was more rustic without any fuss. On top of the chicken were roasted crispy sweet potatoes, a very nice idea and complementary taste.
Dessert was a choice of Panna Cotta and what they described as bread cake. I know bread and butter pudding British style but not bread cake. I watched my friend's cake arrive first before I decided on the safe choice of Panna Cotta knowing their Panna Cotta is very good. The bread cake looked wrong. Bit like bread and butter pudding with apple crumble topping in a pie crust. My friend was disappointed too as she thought it was bread and butter pudding. Panna cotta was rich, creamy and not overly sweet. Excellent but a bit much for the ending to lunch, so I had half. I always enjoy the coffee at Grappa's and so when I remember to book in advance, I will come again some day. Recommended Dish(es):

The nice thing about eating in this American-style Italian restaurant is the pleasant atmosphere. It's busy, noisy and carefree. You feel relaxed having a meal here. Services are reasonably good. Wines are fairly priced. But then again, whilst this restaurant can provide you with some fantastic pizzas and great clam, they don't exactly give you good pastas or meat that are to be expected in a restaurant like this one. I have been visiting here quite frequently over the past year or so due to the convenience of meeting some business friends in the area. Lately, I have discovered that their preparation of pastas have been rather dull. Price of all foods here are gone up a bit, understandably because of inflation. For this reason alone, they should also raise their standard in general. Having said all that, Grappa's in Pacific Place is still a nice place to have a chat with friends over a meal in a carefree mood. Only if they can give me some better pastas! Recommended Dish(es):

Came here for lunch with a few buddies. Not much choice for set lunch menu - 3 for appe, 4 for mains and panna cotta or creme brulee for dessert. Both the appetizer and the main (I picked stuffed chicken breast) were quite decent. The portion was quite big, too! The chicken breast was a little on the salty side and it was such a big piece I could not even finish. The dessert was really good. I was never interested in creme brulee but since both of my friends ordered panna cotta, I ordered the creme brulee (with hazelnut ice-cream mixed into it) so that we could all try out. To my surprise, it was amazing! I quite enjoyed it. Really made my day! would definitely come back again...for the dessert! Saturday night for a light dinner was about 80% full, and the two of us were given a nice table for four. Drinks and menus arrived promptly. Ordered a spaghetti vongole($155) and a mushroom, cheese and spinach pizza($110). My pizza arrived and we were left waiting for some time for the vongole. "yea yea" was the first answer from our waitress when we asked where the other main course was, and " It was cooked in a different section" was the second. When the vongole finally arrived it was described as one of the best in HK, although it lacked seasoning, which unfortunately can not be said about the pizza. The topping was underseasoned and for my taste the base was way too thick and stodgy with no crispness at all. Before we had finished eating our waitress interrupted us to ask if we wanted coffee or desert. Is it so hard to wait till we had finished the main course? With two beers and a pepsi the bill was $417 which is not great value for what was on offer. Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

Pear, walnut and green salad $88: The salad was very small. only several pieces of leaves but some of them were yellow or having brown border. not fresh at all. the pear was too soft. my friend asked me whether it was can fruit. I found even a piece of pear 頂 in the salad. Clam spahetti in white wine sauce $145: the spaghetti was very good. the clam was very fresh. the sauce was wonderful except it is a little bit spicy for me. Recommended Dish(es):

This is place I haven’t been for a long time. This is a place also brought back a lot of memories and used to be a place where I had friends’ chit chat all evening. As there are just too many new restaurants to try out and nearly forgot this. This night, we picked here. Place has no change and getting a bit old! Still warmth and good food. Casual with relaxation. We had: I had a cappuccino Nice evening after all!

after watching a movie at amc my parents and i went here for dinner. we ordered two minestrone, one fettuccine nere(pasta w/ squid ink and shrimp),linguine tutto mare(linguine with seafood), a bistecca alla griglia(sirloin steak) and a pizza alla salsiccia (pizza w/ sausages, salami etc). the breadsticks and bread slices were nice when eaten with olive oil and vinegar. the minestrone was really satisfying and i like how the vegetables had been stewed until softened. yummy the fettuccine was really good. the linguine, on the other hand, was a bit oily but it tasted alright. as for the grilled sirloin, it had a very nice 'grill' flavour but it was not very beefy. i mean, the beef itself was a bit tasteless... and the pizza-we were kinda full after eating all the pastas and stuff, so we cud only take one slice each, and the sausages on top were TOO salty. all in all, the pasta was alright, but not so for the steak and the rest. a 8.5 out of 10, as the fettuccine was realyl good

My family and I come to this restaurant to celebrate birthday(s) every year. We like it very much! The service is good. Some of the bread made with herbs, usually rosemary. I like the caesar salad, and the romaine is crispy. The tiger prawns were really huge and fresh! And wrapped by my favourite, bacon. Yummy. However, I don't eat oysters, and couldn't tell whether it's nice or not. The veal steak was, amazing! It looked done but still tender and juicy. Duck pizza tasted like peking duck, quite sweet. My sisters like the clams & mussels very much, and order every time. It's fresh and fleshy. The clams were as big as the shells!! The cuttlefish pasta was made with prawn and cheeze sauce, and the cheeze was really tasty. Anchovies with spaghetti was hot and spicy. Even I don't like anchovies, I still like this dish. It's a good 'appetizer' to me. Souffle smelt good and the chef told us it was difficult to make. The ordinary ones usually baked in a cup. We will dine here again.

BearN (Non-member) | I dunt go there usually... only 3 times, but can feel strongly that it's getting worse and worse The first time I went was in Dec 2007. Not bad at that time... the first impression to the restaurant was special, because of the live-band. Comparing to it's food... to be honest, the food was so weak The 2nd time I dined there was in Mar 2008. All service & food was terrible!! Salad was NOT fresh, and too much dressing After the 3rd time weeks ago, I believe I wont go there any more! The service is even worse The main reason that made us make desicion that never go this restaurant any more is of cuase their BAD service and poor food. The service doesnt match the environment; the food quality doesnt match the price!
