My aunt came from Hawaii, and she do like thai food. Though I'd went to this restaurant in Sept., but it's a liable one. So we booked a table for 7 with other family members before she left. For they don't like too spicy food, we didn't order the "don yam kung". We ordered: mango juice pomelo salad fried shrimp cake curry clam in bread naan - eat with the curry clam grill squid grill fish (thai syle) in whole grill pork tenderion deep fried beef in dices fried rice in buckle panang shrimp fried baby cabbage fried morning glory don't forget to leave some space for desset: agar The overall food is good, so we ate too much and feel much full Must come again. Initially I had hesitation in trying this place out as it seemed a bit "hongkified", with way too many people posting up reviews. It wasn't my typical hole-in-wall joint where the thai lady who runs the place has her whole family helping out. But since I had to organise dinner for 16 people, this was the easiest option. My second hesitation was sitting outside when it's still sweltering hot in summer, but I was surprised to find that they had some a/c going on in the covered deck outside, with fans going on full blast and canopies set up in case there is the occasional shower. Clearly they've got it all worked out. Almost half our group were vegetarians/Hindu, so pork and beef were not major features (though I still managed to sneak a beef curry into it for those we love meat). We ordered the usual stuff like appetiser platter, chicken laab, stir fried vegetables, papaya salad massaman curry beef, green curry chicken, pad thai, vegetarian flat noodles and rice, and the signature dishes like the golden pillow, pumpkin seafood rice and deep-fried stuff chicken wings. I have to say, most of the items were pretty tasty, and quite authentic too. The pad thai and beef curry were particular standouts. The only disappointments were the sausage salad in the appetiser (way too salty), the golden pillow (soggy bread, bland curry), and the naan was too thin and oily to be of any use in soaking up curry sauce.

I didn't visit Thai Simple for a year! But it is still with great food. I ordered red chicken curry, which I love it as it has strong coconut oil. And the curry clam is delicious too. The rice is amazing. However I love the outdoor area very much; but people are like seeing outdoor = smoking area. I am not a smoker and I do not enjoy outdoor with stinky smoke at all! I think Simple Thai has to do something about it~ Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

harri-- (Non-member) | Cannot remember when we went, but i just remember the food being lovely and the service being amazing. Waiter even remembered the brief passing comment i made about being a vegetarian and came over yelling as i was about to eat something saying "NO ITS GOT PORK IN IT" which wasn't specified on the menu. roof garden was lovely as well. At first visit the waitress told us the restaurant was full but we may sit at the roof garden. Well, it was below 10 degree C so this was hardly any option and we left disappointed that time. Then last night we decided to give it another try. We immediately noticed that waitresses was very busy despite not many guests at the place. It was annoyingly loud discusions and it turned out they where counting the tips at a table not far from ours. We got only 1 menu for our table and they gave us a small plate uf fried cashewnuts. We ordered Beefsalad (But beef was out of stock) and opted for chicken salad instead with Phad thai and Chicken coconut soup to share. The Chicken salad was passable but nothing to recommend among the 100ds of good Thai restaurants in town The Phad thai suffered a distinct overdose of ketchop and was very oily. We had the version with prawn and for some reason the prawn came with a strong garlic flavour which did'nt go well with the noodles. Bean sprouts and a few slices of lemon was missing so we had to ask for it. Chicken soup (Kha kai) tasted alright but suspect there was some cream mixed with coconut milk. But ther was only a few pieces of chicken leftovers in the soup. We took out the chicken skin and the other scrap pieces and discovered there was only hard chunks of lempngrass, ginger and mushrooms left. Disappointed we asked for the bil and discovered they charged us HKD 25 for the tiny plate of cashewnuts we were given at arival. We vere very upset and the waitress vas very ignorant and said " everybody understand that you have to pay for the nuts'....... After some arguing they deleted the charge but still the overall experience was Not value for money and the waitress staff was not as friendly and smiling that you expect from a Thai kitchen of this cost level. dinner with friends. Since we have friends who cant take spicy food, so the order is just 'so-so' without any classic 'tom yum kung' soup and such. cant remember what exactly the meal is but it does include: starter combo: ok. with some deep fried shrimp, scallops and fish cake. not too bad. papaya salad: good. spicy enough Cabbage greens with garlic: ok, just the cabbage cord itself is a bit bitter, but the garlic stir fried made a well balance of it Beef stewer: ok too! juicy enough with the grill. I also order a 'chu dor' drink..taste a bit watery (maybe we were sitting outside and the weather is hot??) with coconut milk but not too much other taste, event sweetness!.... overall it is not impressive, Kowloon city one is more authethic and tasty when compare. Just here have the outside seating at CWB... Came here for a late dinner and i must say the decor of this place is great. Very Thai themed and there's even outdoor terrace seating for smokers. Food: Menu was pretty extensive with english translations and pictures - made ordering very easy. Chicken with egg and broad noodles: Pretty good and huge portions for sharing. I thought it only tasted good with beef, but the chicken turned out very good, with good amounts of chicken (not dry). Pan fried fish filets with lemongrass and other stuff: This did not appeal to my tastebuds, just tasted insanely flavored - it was 50% fish filets and 50% all these seasoning like things i dont know names of, but chili pepers, lemon grass, leaves of all sorts etc. This might appeal to those who really like very heavily seasoned food? The fish filets themselves were not as large and thick as i prefer and semi dry... Cabbage greens with garlic: This was like eating a cabbage/brussels sprouts type of vegetable. The picture looked good and the dish looks good when it arrives, but the texture is so much tougher than I'd expect, so it was a lot of work just trying to chew it.... Flavor with garlic was good though. Deep fried taro cakes (appetizer): This was yum! Vegetarian too so had bits of mushroom mixed in the taro, and the fryedness was perfect, paired with this sweet/sour tamarind type of sauce. They have a large selection of desserts including little cakes and treats that are like $8 each, so you can mix and match. The mango with sticky red rice was great! Sweet mango chunks (in season now) with piping hot red sticky rice with this white sweet sauce all over. Sizing it up: This place is pretty decent, i have to try out other dishes next time to get a better picture of whether i really like this restaurant or not. Liked the decor and service was fine. We highly recommend the Tom Yom Soup. Many mixed vegetables, broccoli, califlower, carrots, etc. Non milky red broth. Super spicy. The minced chicken and spicy basil was terrific. So was the fried fish with lemon grass. Decor was unique. Highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you are looking for some real spicy Thai food. Plenty of good beer was needed to put out the fire! Recommended Dish(es):

bevi (Non-member) | My boyfriend brought me to a restaurant which located at the roof of the President Theatre in Causeway Bay, we arrived at 7:30 pm. The restaurant was full but only one table for 2 was available in the outdoor area, where people can smoke. Although the enviroment was very good with a THAI feel, but it was too hot in that evening to have food without air-conditioning. And we waited for about 20mins. We ordered 1) salad with pomelo - taste fresh 2) fried spring roll in vegetables - crispy 3) spicy chichen marinated - cold dish with spicy sauce, chicken tasty and tender 4) tiger prawn - with peanut sauce, tasty sauce can go with rice, prawn also tasty and tender 5) dessert : layer cake - can slice into layers pumpkin pudding - it taste like the chinese steam eggs with pumpkin The food we ordered were tasty, we will visit the restaurant at a later time with more friends. We can reservation a table in the outdoor area with air-conditioning. Recommended Dish(es):

It's hard to imagine that amidst the hustle and bustle of Causeway Bay, there is a restaurant with such a pleasant and relaxing ambience. We had a table out at the large rooftop terrace and felt like we were dining at Stanley or Shek O. Tents are set up at the terrace like separate rooms for larger groups, which makes this place great for gatherings. Also, the restaurant's location is very central but the entrance was a bit difficult to find. Although the food wasn't outstanding, the menu is diverse with a separate vegetarian section, and many items have innovative names! Most dishes are in a sizable portion and are great for sharing. There were Thai karaoke indoors and a singer was performing but we could hardly hear the singing outside. The only downside was service, where the servers were not particularly attentive and polite. However, I would definitely recommend this restaurant, especially for families and larger groups.
