My friend and I met my mum for lunch on that day. Before half past 12, there were still seats available. Pho is really nice here, and comes in a huge bowl. More than a girl can finish. The soup is so nice. We also tried rice paper roll with fried soft shell crab inside. I like it very much. For drink, we ordered coconuts, which were of very high quality. The price is reasonable, and the menu offers enough choices. No wonder so many people there during lunch time! my dad loves the beef noodles in nha trang and we visit this restaurant frequently from time to time. last sunday we decided to walk all the way from our place to here for lunch. i was not feeling too hungry so i ordered a pan hoi with herbs and veggies while my dad ordered a beef noodles, my ma a beef flank noodles, together with a 'ging fun guen' and a shrimp rice paper roll to share. the appetizers came first and i felt the ricepaper roll was very suitable with the fish sauce. being thin and a little chewy, the ricepaper rolled in the shrimp which tasted refreshing perfectly-a good treat in a hot summer afternoon! but one problem was that the chopped noodles fell off too easily and it was quit messy to eat. the big bowls of noodles came next. my dad and ma seemed to enjoy them a lot so i think they must taste pretty good. my plate of 'pan hoi' came last, pipping hot. having no idea how to eat the 'pan hoi' i just put the herbs and 'pan hoi' on a piece of lettuce, sprinkle on some fish sauce and shove the whole thing into my mouth. it tasted a big bald no doubt as there was no meat and whatsoever but herbs and veggies. the environment was nice although customers kept coming in. the staff were busy but very friendly;they moved with such confidence and gusto! their politeness is also remarkable.

Another year has come by and this year the girls are old enough to give me presents. So we went to celebrate at one of their favourite restaurants, Nha Trang, the Central branch. It has to be the Central branch as the Wanchai branch, although nicely decorated does not have the same high standard for food. This branch was under renovations last year and then too busy when we passed by the last time. This time we went late, after 1:30pm and only had to wait 10 minutes We ordered some drinks, salted lemon sodas and iced lime tea. We had Pho, the dish we have every time and the soup is rich and hot, full of flavour. The noodles and beef were just as nice We had my daughter's favourite spring rolls and soft shell crab rice rolls. The rice rolls were good but thought the spring rolls could have been more crispy. The mango salad was a disappointment and we must have been thinking of mango salad made the Thai way. This one had thin slices of mango but most of it was shredded cucumber and beansprouts with very little dressing and some very hard pieces of squid, should have gone for the pomelo salad which is a sure bet. The best dish however was the sizzling Saigon crepe. This was made with lentil flour, fried and has pork, shrimps, bean sprouts and cooked with a light curry sauce. It is a very unusual dish and the tastes and textures came together very nicely. It was a lovely lunch and we would always remember only to come to this Central branch.

value food (Non-member) | pho is smaller, not as tasty and less content (eg meat) as before the renovation in Oct/Nov; but price is up 10%. spring roll is soft and mushy inside not crunchy as before - changed chef? now it is just an average bearable place without the smell and ok location and cleaner. quality is much lower for eat-in and take-away as well. However, foreigners still seem keen, perhaps the queuing will show eventually Date of Visit: Nov 15, 2009 Spending per head: Approximately HKD100(Dinner) Other Ratings: Taste 2 | Environment 3 | Service 3 | Hygiene 3 | Value for Money 1

Went here with my friend for lunch. She ordered the Vietnamese coffee, which looked like a typical Vietnamese-made coffee. I was told that it tasted very nice - not too strong and not too sweet! Then we went for the main course. She ordered the soft shell crab rolls and I got the chance to taste one small crab - it was delicious! Then I ordered my typical dish - 雞絲河粉, which was utterly disappointing. I didn't even bother to take a photo. Honestly, the quality of the chicken pho has deteriorated. It used to be so much better here! They added lots of garlic and herbs and loads of pho, but it still tasted bland! Dunno why, but the chicken had no taste. The noodles had no taste. What's worse, despite all the garlic, the entire soup noodles tasted bland and nothing out of the ordinary! Plus, they put in far too little soup and it tasted a bit dry. Anyway, I was very disappointed with the dish and didn't even care to order dessert there. This restaurant seriously needs to improve its food quality, especially the pho! I can't believe they didn't even care to do a good job with that as it's a typical Vietnamese dish! Anyway, service was alright and the renovation of this restaurant was much better, but still the food wasn't good enough!

I've been on a beef pho craving lately and tried Nha Trang finally due to many people's recommendations. Dropped by the restaurant around 3PM so crowds weren't a factor. Ordered a bowl of beef pho and a lemon ice tea. Beef pho: soup was flavorful, noodles pretty smooth and I liked the mint leaves they added. The mint leaves definitely gave it a nice added fragrance and taste. Also there was a good amount of bean sprouts in the bowl which gave it a little extra crunch. My gripe with this dish was the beef. I'm not super knowledgeable about beef but it felt like low quality meat to me and it was also way too lean. Although the MSG wasn't heavy it was a little more than I liked since my mouth was a little dry after the meal. Environment: Even though the place was relatively empty the seating felt a little cramped. The distance between the tables was rather narrow and the kitchen cleaning staff was constantly bustling through them. Service: Not spectacular but was quite good. Food came quickly and I never felt rushed at any point. I've tried 3 pho places in Central now (Pearl, Nha Trang and Lian) and to me Nha Trang's bowl although not bad was probably the least satisfying of the bunch. On a pure taste accessment I think Lian has the best bowl of pho...if only they weren't so expensive... This place is always very busy at lunch time, I did not expect it to be so busy at night also. We arrived at around 7:30 pm and there was a queue already. And by the time we left at around 8:30 pm, there was still a queue! Although the food is nice, but I cannot understand why it is always so busy, I mean, there are other Vietnamese restaurants nearby! The thing I don't like about this place is the sitting. Luckily we were given a normal table, as compared with the high table where you need to sit on stools.

Not sure if you guys realised - there are often reserved tables in the restaurant. I recall one Sunday evening at 8:45pm. A 4 table was reserved. After waiting for 15 minutes, nobody came.....the waiters hold the table. We thought maybe someone has reserved it perhaps.....so we left in the end. Last night, we went to the restaurant at 7:30pm.....we saw a reserved table for 4 but they didn't give it to us. We waited for more than 20 minutes but during that time there was nobody sitting there. We were later assigned to the bar table and we quietly observed that they gave the so called 'reserved table' to 3 people who were also waiting to be seated (their ticket no. was just a no. after us). My question is that NO one actually reserved the table, but after more than 20 minutes they give it to people who hasn't booked. They just hold it up for no reason!!! I later learnt from my friend that they don't allow reservations after 6pm. So why are there reserved tables? Just don't understand - that simply doesn't make sense! There is practically no service there - is it because this restaurant is classified as CHEAP eats in Central/SOHO district? Food there is above average.

I came here for lunch on a Sunday and it was surprisingly packed. So I thought the food must be good. Both of us ordered the noodle with raw beef (Beef Pho), and we were full of anticipation. However, the noodle tasted very ordinary, not much different from any Vietnamese restaurant. Worse still, just as I finished the noodle, I started to feel thirsty. After drowning myself with bottles of water, the thirst still lingered on. It was not a great feeling at all. As for the service, it was not really friendly but not as rude as other comment. Can it be that I was with a gweilo (my hubby)?? I hope not! Other Ratings: Taste 1 | Environment 3 | Service 2 | Hygiene 3 | Value for Money 1

I've been to this restaurant several times before and food has been ok, but this time the beef pho was simply bad. The soup was oily with fake sweet taste. Right after finishing up the food, I immediately got thirsty to the point where downing a can of soda did nothing to help. In this bad economy, MSG must have remained cheap Spending per head: Approximately HKD70(Lunch) Other Ratings: Taste 1 | Environment 2 | Service 3 | Hygiene 3 | Value for Money 1
