Another restaurant along a pedestrian street offering various cuisines. When we had just moved the first restaurant we tried along the street was another Italian place called Gather Together. My wife loved her squid ink seafood linguine there but I really didn't enjoy a pizza with a biscuit like base, too sweet tomato sauce and under baked toppings. I was disappointed since I hadn't had pizza for some time and certainly not a good one. I was pleasantly surprised one Saturday lunchtime stopping off at Lasagne House with my daughter, who happens to love pizza. We had set lunch of Caesar salad followed by a 9 inch pepperoni pizza. The salad was a proper Caesar with bacon, croutons and freshly shaved Parmesan and just the right size for the two of us. The pizza was even better. It reminded me of real Italian style pizza, the likes of which I haven't has since living in London. Thin crispy base, a rich complex tasting tomato and herb sauce, mozzarella cheese and large broad slices of pepperoni covering each slice of the pizza. The combined taste, perfect. My daughter loved it and although she's only a little one, proceeded to polish of half of it. We've since been back with friends and tried their great fixed menu for four: salad, choice of 2 pasta or risotto dishes, 12 inch pizza, chicken wings and potato wedges. lasagna house also does some great pasta, the penne arabiata we had came in a zingy tomato sauce with a delightful bit of chilli afterburner. A cheese risotto was somehow simultaneously rich and creamy yet not at all heavy. The food is cooked with evident skill and care it seems from largely very fresh ingredients. These pasta and rice dishes might seem small but added to the rest of the food in the deal, it was more than enough for four adults who were all full at the end. The restaurant decor is simple but it is comfortable enough and the prompt yet I fussy service gets you the food quick enough and then you can just relax and enjoy it well worth a visit.
