Although it has so many choices of deep-fried food, I chose its signature dish - 炸吉列豬排 (HK$158). Their staff suggested me to order a glass of water melon juice at speical price of HK$10 only.

After taking the order, she brought a bowl with sesame and taught me that I can grind the sesame with the wooden stick. Then, she introduced me the seasoning tray. The 柚子醬 and 紫菜醬 are for the cabbage. 豬排醬 should be mixed with the sesame for the pork cutlet.

It only took 10 minutes for the pork cutlet delivered to my dinning table. Amazing efficiency!

It was so fresh and hot with crispy skin and tender meat. One of the best Japanese style pork cutlet I know in this town. Cabbage, rice, and miso soup are all above average. I can't say any words except "Perfect".

I like their staff's proactivity, such as actively asking you to refill cabbage and rice. Between rice and cabbage, I went for two refills of cabbage in order to balance the 熱氣. (hope it works)

The final bill was about HK$185 (including 10% service charge).

really a good place to go. i didn't waited too long for the queue, and I actually been there a few times, and both food and services level are very constant. It has a quiet atmosphere too.
Food and services are excellent, highly recommanded.

Had diner with a few buddies here last night. I made a reservation ahead of time and didn't have to wait too long. Hostess was very nice and couldn't see her w/o a smile.

We ordered pork fillet, pork chop and shrimp. Everything was good!

Highly recommended and make sure you make a reservation.

... 4-in-1 sampler plate for 3 people. plus soup, rice and all you can eat shredded cabbage salad.

don't worry about deep-fried, they are really not that oily.
the porks were very tender and fresh, the oysters and prawns were top tasty. wish you can get refills! but you don't have to, since for each person there were 1 piece each of oyster and prawn, and 2-3 pieces of the 2 porks. if you are a hungry tiger, you should eat bowls and bowls of the unlimited cabbage!

the fun part is to grind your own sesame in a traditional pestle & mortar. then add your choices of 3 house-made sauces -- made with soybean, citrus/pear or seaweed.

the server was very helpful and explained to us how to order or prepare the sauces. seating was comfy & spacious. a/c was strong. the whole night's experience was worth the money!

I firstly knew this restaurant in CWB, yet I've never tried it, because it always had a long line in front of the restaurant!
And we've arrived the TST one at 6:30 pm in case there would be too many people in the "golden period". However, we still had to wait for 45 mins.
We've ordered a 二人套餐 including 炸軟殼蟹，吉列豬扒，豬柳，大蝦，生蠔...
Honestly, 炸軟殼蟹，豬柳，大蝦 were just so-so, not really that worth waiting for so long time outside the restaurant! 吉列豬扒 and 生蠔 were nice, better that normal Japanese restaurant.
飯及生菜絲is refillable, with and eat with 紫菜醋 and 1 other sauce! These side dishes are quite nice, but we were too full to finish all of them. 紫菜醋 was very yummy!!
I think this restaurant is not bad, yet for this price ($600 for 2) , there are far more better selections everywhere in HK!! 可是聲勢如此浩大，試一次也無妨!!

Ordered two 3 ppl meal set, the set have oyster, pawn, pork and chicken, each costed almost $450! The food was not so good, it is just like an usual deep fried style. The pork and chicken were not tender. Actually the deep fried pock chop from a Wanchan resturant near "Chun Yuen Street" is much better and not so expensive

Although the rice and the lettuce can be refilled, it is just a nothing compared to the price of the food there. The service was ok

In general, the food is over priced with that qulity and the environment is just ok with no view at all

After hkiff movie in cultural centre, we headed to tst branch. I really hate queuing ... so it has been 2+ years i have not been to the eatery ...

It was after 8 and we waited ard 20+ min only and maybe there are not many ppl, our sitting place is spacious and it was indeed a table for 4

We ordered a mixed pork set. GREAT.
Pork cutlet is better than pork loin. The crispy topping is nice matching with the tenderness of the meat. Worths queuing...
Another highlight is the soft rice. Cannot stop eating when it comes with the pork, the texture is superb. So I finished the whole bowl.
The shredded cabbage is nice with the sesame sauce that we nearly bought a bowl.
And the water melon ends up the whole good meal.

If not for queuing, I would have been there more often ...

I have dinner with my husband in last night, for his birthday celebration, it is my first time to try that, so many friends recommed,,,um,,, I think not "very very good"law~ quite expensive,becoz the pork is little "un" ,,,and my husband also said not "very very good".

I come to here around 2:30pm with my friends, when I'm eating my lunch a waitress come to ask us to leave. She said they close at 3.

Although I still eating, she put the watermelon on desk and ask us to eat it quickly. When I try to finish it. The waitress said, we already closed. Leave now. Really bad service I never met.

Since I haven't completed my meal, then I haven't move. But the waitress collected all my dishes and don't let me eat anymore.

What kind of service in Hong Kong? so bad. I have paid the money. If they don't let me eat, then they should not let me come in to order. Received the money, and then ask me to leave.

So bad.

I would say the Fried Oyster worth the price, but all the other dishes that i tried were soso...like fried pork with egg soup and fried shrimps. The environment is good, so is the service.

Last night went to Repulse Bay and tried out an all you can eat set at Y by the bay, surprisingly, the tonkatsu was sooo tender and the batter was just right. Only $19.90 per order or $199 eat as much as you like including sushi and sashimi.

The tonkatsu at Tonkichi is tougher and not juicy enough. They really should improve the quality of meat and the timing of cooking.

Highly recommended. Have been to the Tsim Sha Tsui shop and Causeway Bay shop regularly for a couple of years. I found their quality of food has been very consistent... consistenly high. I guess many of us have the experience of feeling unsure about recommending a good restaurant to our dear friends. We want to share with others the excellent food that we found, but very often the good quality cannot be sustained and even ourselves are so disappointed.
My favourite: (1) Pork chop - personally like it more than pork loin, better meat taste. Loin is undoubtedly softer in texture though. (2) Oyster - very juicy, clean, very oysterly taste (3) Prawn - regular-sized ones are good enough, better value for money than king prawns (4) Meat and vegetable soup - more superior than miso soup.
These dishes so good that I have been failing to convince myself to try other dishes... wanna try their pork with egg next time... if I can manage to ask myself not to order the above...

It is so good that in Hong Kong we can taste a genuine decent tongatsu. Tonkichi maintains its good quality for so many years. From every minor things - the sauce, the dish set, etc, you can rest assure that this is a restaurant servicing you exceptional food and service. Their services and friendly staff will make you feel like coming back to home, which is typical in Japan but very rare in Hong Kong.
Food is not cheap but is very good for value - and I will recommend to true gourmet to try this restaurant, not just mediocre gourment who want hotchpotch Japanese food.
