Disappointing experience Cries May 03, 2013

This is one of my most disappointing dining experience in HK. We chose this new tapas restaurant because of its good rating on openrice but were disappointed by its mediocre food. I am no spanish food expert but I love tapas and have enjoyed them in other tapas restaurants in HK as well as those in Madrid/Barcelona. The paella served by WTF is very salty overpowering the ingredients and spice in the dish. We called over the restaurant manager but were just taken aback by his comment about us being the only customers who had issues with their food.

I can tolerate mediocre food but cannot tolerate lack of humbleness and genuine customer service. Won't go back again.

Pleasant surprise Smile Dec 29, 2012

It was near midnight and my friends and I were looking for a decent restaurant to have a later supper in. We tried poking around SoHo, but no kitchens were open. Fortunately, we found this place at the last moment and were impressed by the fact that we could get a proper meal at this time of the night.

We first had some olives, which were paired with garlic as an appetizer. The combination of the spicy flavours of the garlic and the tangy, ripened olives left me wanting more. I was already looking forward to the next dish, which was fried 'Manchego' cheese. This one had a crusty surface with tasty warm, molten cheese inside and brought us away from the chilly winter night.

I was glad to see that the staff were attentive and asked us if we liked the food. We ordered two more dishes: a Spanish omelette and some fried squid. The omelette was decent and had a good filling, but the highlight of the meal was the squid. It was perfectly cooked and did not have the annoying 'rubbery' texture that I was used to. I recall that it was cooked in olive oil and chili, both of which enhanced its flavour.

This was a tapas bar, hence the portions are a bit smaller. We were quite famished, so it would've been nice to have dishes that filled us up more. At the same time, the smaller size of dishes allowed us to sample a greater variety of them. I will definitely return in the future to indulge in some more late-night tapas.

We have been here a couple of times, the first time was okay, and good enough to encourage us to come back. However, while they may have got off to a good start on the first visit, not so on the second. Simply put, it's Tapas of sorts but not yet quite achieving this to any reasonable standard. The Paella was pretty much a dressed up Rissotto. The Sangria, not exactly good value and the standard serve is overly sweet and with too much fruit juice, to get anything close, you have to order the "special" one with more alcohol, even then it's hit and miss. To top it off, they turn a blind eye to the Law when it comes to smoking, by encouraging pipe smoking indoors. (Not every ones thing and of course it stinks to high heaven) . We will not be going back!

I waited 0 minutes because I was late. Was there with three friends.

The atmosphere is quite good. They have a perfect volume of background music from Coldplay to Adele.

It's a spanish restaurant ( I suppose I am right because they have paella, heard the owner said they might include more fusion food later)
Menu (like how it has english explanations because I can never what they are by looking at the names)

We ordered a few dish to try.

The waitress introduced me to try the Sangria. It was refreshing. Think it's a must try item.

    1) Croquettes (Fried Chicken)

Love it. There is paprika in the chicken meat well marinated. It goes very nice with lemon. Nice snack before the main dish!

    2) Beef with garlic

The beef is very tender, not overtaken by the garlic, and I like the mushroom in it. The mushroom absorbed the sauce and it's very tasty =9

    3) Crab wrapped in crispy crust

The crab meat is mixed with chicken, it's very well done with a crispy crust and soft creamy filling inside. The sour sauce they provide goes well with the dish.

    4) Paella
The dish is full of seafood, tastes good

Overall speaking, it's a nice restaurant. The service is good (the boss even asked us if the food tastes alright for me, which I appreciate a lot), the food is very well done, price is good. A very good place to chill, eat and drink.
