Not long after I got my SODA card at FLAME, I received an invitation from SODA to use my SODA rewards at RED MANGO.

I went to FLAME for my usual roast chicken and I saw some people registering for a SODA card so I did that as well.
At FLAME, I got a free soft drink for first time registration, there after every time I visit flame, reward points will be collected and rewards will be unlocked.

The SODA APP and website have information on other participating eateries and most of my favourites were there!
Just for scanning your card, you get 5 points on every visit to any shop that has the SODA rewards scheme.

To celebrate the one year anniversary of Red Mango, they are offering all items at half price to people who have the Soda card until 28th May 2013.

At this event, SODA credited my card with 250 pts so that I could treat my fellow foodies with froyo and most importantly they could see and experience how my SODA card was used.

There is a Soda tablet at the corner and all you do is scan your card and enter your pin, choose the rewards.

This was the reward that SODA asked me to experience.

So without further ado, we all ordered our froyos.
The toppings are UnLiMiTeD provided they fit in the cup, however I was disappointed they did not have Blackberries as shown on previous reviews.

There are three sizes, but for the current reward, it was for the Junior size only.

There were parfaits too and I really wanted to try the falafel oniion wrap.

    Raspberry froyo:

I really liked the froyo and the raspberry flavour reminded me of Yoplaits raspberry yoghurt, but because it was froyo, the texture was similar to soft serve and it melted easily too.
The dark chocolate curls and strawberry complemented it nicely.
Just for fun I tried the mochi and caramel pecans because I love pecans.
The mochi pieces were nice and big.

    Green tea and original froyo:

I also tried the green tea and original but I felt that raspberry was the best.

Just a quick log to remind myself that there are better froyo places in the hood.

Came for a light-ish dessert yesterday night after a short exam. We wanted to sit down and have something sweet but didn't want to go for cake at a proper restaurant. Holly Brown was a good choice but I guess it's everywhere. Gotta say though, Holly Brown never fails to delight. I am happy every time I go. Anyway.

Small Froyo $42 - charge by cup size, not by weight (unlimited toppings as long as they fit in the container)

The only good thing about Red Mango is that they let you put as many and varied toppings -as possible- without charging extra. Apart from that, the toppings are very standard - berries, kiwi, soft mochi, granola, honey coated walnuts, cheesecake crumble, oreos(?) and the like.

Froyo taste + texture/consistency not to my liking. I prefer the tartness that Yomama/Tuttifrutti offers, and the thicker consistency of Holly Cow/Crumbs (referring to the original flavours of all 4 stores). Red Mango's original was...quite watery and thin. There is, however, an intriguing Honey flavour which I might try.

Texture: Crumbs vs Red Mango = premium ice cream vs icemilk/icy whipped cream (thanks for the analogy A. sounds terrible already)
Tartness: um. Red Mango original flavour was just...flat. Almost no tartness at all. Didn't feel like I was eating froyo, but it wasn't like ice cream either. Somewhere in between, which is worst.

    Conclusion:
I'm sure someone out there appreciates Red Mango for the nonfat, gluten-free froyo. So there is a market for these products. Would be great if they could improve the texture a bit. As for myself, as calorie-conscious as I am with some other foods, nonfat froyo is officially off my healthy&happy list. smile Back to fat froyo.

    lolGwailoguru Rating: 7/10 (Froyo)lol

    *In One Simple Sentence:*
Healthier Version of Smile in convenient central location

    *Insider Tip:*
    Try the Cheesecake Topping, mmmmh

    Visiting Details:
    Cuisine: Frozen Yoghurt
    Food rating: 8/10
    Service: 7/10
    Ambiance: 6/10
    Price: HK$45 pax
    Serving Tab Water/Tea: Yes-No
    English Menu: Yes

    What we really liked:
How they have the "All Toppings you can fit" approach and don't limit their customers in their choice

    And what not:
Nothing really to complain, if so, then maybe the prices, but I guess that's what you pay for good frozen Yoghurt these days

    Summary:

    Service
Good Service! What we often have at places like these are local "I don't care approach" personal that doesn't really care if your yoghurt arrives upside down or not, any ways, today we really got all toppings we asked for packed on our yoghurt, without a frown or hesitance, thanks!

    The Place
Opposite infamous Vietnamese Restaurant Nha Trang, right in central on Wellington Street, off the Midlevels escalator. The place is brand new and nicely designed, there are tables for you to sit down (rare in frozen yoghurt places) and chat. And at the entry they even have a little "photo booth" for you to take picture if you really get bored.
    Healthier FroYo

    The Yoghurt
Red Mango calls itself the "healthier" version of frozen Yoghurt. And indeed, I liked a lot because it wasn't as sweet as the "usual" places by far, you could even say the regular flavour is almost non sweet . Although you can choose sweeter fruit options like Strawberry, Peach, Green Tea, Mango and others for a higher price.

You can choose 3 sizes although we found the small one (42HK$) already enough for a regular desert and the regular (45HK$)one almost too big.

Besides the normal froyo cups that you will fill with your own choices, they offer approx 6 creations very similar to the Smile ones (48HK$).
    1 Small - 1 Regular - 1 Housecreation
    1 Small - 1 Regular - 1 Housecreation

    The Toppings
Staying their direction of "healthier brand" true you have a great choice of really fresh fruits, I was especially delighted to find fresh blackberries and raspberries (not those mushy old ones, but crispy fresh).
Besides the fruits you have of course the regular sweet toppings like M&Ms, mochi, chocolate etc. And my alltime favorite "Cheesecake"! Gotta try it!

    Others
Red mango sells also Sandwiches, Wraps etc, but we haven't tried those yet.

Groupbuy for tea time Smile Jul 23, 2012

We went for something cool under a sunny day without wind in Central.
Since i bought two coupons from groupbuy online, it is time to use them during weekend.
    Reason:
    1. not many ppl waiting and sitting inside
    2. not rushing to come in and leave

We ordered one small yogurt and one Turkey & Mushroom Sandwich by using two coupons and added some extra money.
Yogurt: quite fresh and smoothy. The fruits are in varieties, fresh and juicy.
Sandwich is warm enuf but long time to wait.

It is cool to enjoy a tea inside if you are not rushing in and out.tongue

Very impressed Smile Jun 08, 2012

My first visit here. Quite convenient- just off the escalator and a short walk from IFC.
The restaurant is clean and just the right size that it isn't too noisy.
I had the combo- a sandwich and a serving of yogurt.
The sandwich was filled with fresh ingredient including best of all, really tasty onion.
The yogurt, included three flavors, and you can have one or all. Toppings- any and as many as you like- just have to fit in the cup. I stuck with fresh fruit, but it was just that-FRESH.

In summary, the restaurant does a limited number of sandwiches and salads, but they do them well.

    I highly recommend this place.
