plastic clam Just OK Apr 01, 2013
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
went there alone on a weekday evening. since i arrived early, so no need queue.
I ordered a dish of clam linguine and a glass of mixed berries juice.

The juice came first, it is so refreshing, though a bit too sweet.

waited for nearly 20 mins for the linguine.
The linguine is cooked with white wine, cheese and garlie, the sauce not very rich but can still reserve a light taste of alchohol.
    The linguine is well-cooked.
However, the clam is a great disppointment.
Firstly, it is small in size; secondly and most importantly, the clam has no taste, it is like chewing plastic...
the worst clam i hv ever had.
    tasteless clam like plastic

When it comes to eating in Kowloon Tong, the pickings are fairly slim until you walk into Prince Edward or Sham Shui Po. Most (with the exception of a few local places) to eat are located within Festival Walk. There's japanese, shanghainese, cantonese, two pizza places, a food court, about seven cafes, an irish pub and heaps more. But apart from the food court, all the places in Festival Walk are pretty expensive. Except for EXP.

EXP is the large open eatery opposite the indoor ice skating rink. You can spot it from a far distance by the long snaking line that is always coming from it. I've watched people wait for aaaages to get into this strange japanese-chinese-italian fusion restaurant. Three of us from university went after not wanting to walk far from residence. We waited around 15 minutes in the line which wasn't bad at all.
    Loved my juice
    Loved my juice

The menu is basically pizza, noodles and smaller snacks as well as a nice
list of smoothies and fruit juices. I had a mango, blood orange and banana smoothie which was delicious!

chopstick The first thing we ordered were the rather frankly described 'garlic beef cubes'. Essentially small bit size cuts of sirloin cooked in a thick tomato and garlic jus. The girls liked it but it was a bit too garlicky and heavy going for me.

chopstick The prawn and corn fritters came served with a sweet chilli sauce. These were okay tasting enough, though the fritters themselves were a little tasteless and were carried by the sauce (which I think could have come with something a bit nicer than sweet chilli).

chopstick We ordered a pizza with marinated beef, onion and mayonaise (trés modern). When you order your pizza you're offered a thin ($56) or thick crust ($72). We went for thin and that's what we got. The base was like a cracker. The pizza itself was okay, the whole beef and mayonaise combo on a wafer thin pizza base was a little weird. But in the end the whole meal cost $160 or so between us all, including two smoothies. Not exactly expensive.

EXP is one of my favourite dining places in festival walk, as i particularly like their fresh juice!!!

but one thing i feel bad is, there is always a long queue at the entrance, it's a MUST to come with friends so that one can goto wait in Caffe Habitu, one goes to rice paper, one goes to Simply life...haha, it's my strategy tongue

about the food, the seafood spahgetti and the shrimp pizza are nice, and dont forget to order their fresh juice as many fruit are mixed together and the price is not that expensive : )

    Supplementary Information:
if you order before 1 p.m., you will be given a free fresh juice : )

西柚鮮蝦喬麥麵 Grapefruit Prawn Soba ($63): I had this dish twice in a month! It's something I don't do very often. The dish is serve cold so it's perfect for a hot summer day. The soba sauce was light and tasty. Grapefruit and mango slices were perfect with each other. Prawns were perfectly crunchy and sweet. This is easily the best dish on the menu. I love it!

There was a great menu for afternoon tea and it was worth the value of money. The food was tasty and was definetly worth the money going to get it. The cheesecake is an absaloute must as it is one of the best and only $25 with a drink. Its definetly a bargain. The italien spagetthi with aspragus and bacon was very nice as well. I would definetly recommend going for an afternoon tea there. The mango ice tea was very unique and not too sweet. But it was delicious!

I haven't visited EXP since last year... and I noticed some changes on their menu - the pizza selections have definitely changed and prices have increased. I chose the new chopstick'Seafood Pizza' for tonight's dinner and taste-wise, it wasn't bad. The seafood, apart from the fish fillet, was fresh enough and the quantity of cheese good and nicely melted. My complaint however, would be that the seafood or pizza sauce was not quite dry enough, resulting in my pizza being slightly 'wet' - not good!

We also ordered a chopstick Duck Breast Fried Rice. This item has been on their menu ever since they opened I believe, and was every bit as good as I remember it to be =) on top is the raw garlic mash which S chose to leave out wisely as the raw garlic was way too strong, pungent, and no doubt would leave one with bad breath. The smoked duck breast seemed to be the vacuum-packed variety, which didn't really bother either of us as it was tasty. The fried rice was not oily and very flavourful!'

Overall a good pick in Festival Walk for its menu fits all - western, asian, fusion. As they don't take reservations expect long queues during peak dining hours!

Prawns Grapefruit buckwheat noodles ($ 61) - Li will call almost every department in the summer re-fresh feeling fresh, real meat and shrimp are counted, but the Department of snow like goods and do not think that a lot of face, in fact, there is lettuce under the bottom, with Japanese-style salad in sour sauce, a few starters, the amount of men, it should be Well enough, also will sell too good (In fact, I have tried to own the entire summer)
Lots of protein seafood fried rice ($ 61) - have green salad with dish, rice is also a lot of material, there are scallops, salmon, shrimp, fish, dried scallops, etc. and do not think that hope is like snow falling snow, verified each one, all food to the material, no other sauce has a taste off
Crab Smoked Duck Breast with rice ($ 59) - Sheng separate crab, duck breast large enough, but the food's flavor more intense smoke duck breast, I would appreciate Ma Ma Tei

The food was generally very good except one dish, the beef tongue skewer.

The smell and taste of the beef tongue skewer was a bit off, so we left it and didnt even bother to mention anything about it. When we were trying to get the bill, the waitress was concerned why we didn't eat touch that dish. We told her the reason, and she offered to cancel it for us and apologized.

Then when the bill came, we were a bit confused about the use of the coupon and the credit card discount, the other waiter was being very patient explaining to us and actually walked back and forth a good few times to settle the bill. smilesmile

Went to have lunch with my friend at this restaurant ytd, we ordered a salmon cold noodle and a ox tongue. The slamon cold udon is very very good, the salad vege is very fresh and taste good with the dressing. The salmon is very fresh, very soft and juicy. The cold noodle dressing is very very good, its a bit thick and has a very strong peanut and sesimi taste very very good making the cold noodle taste so much better then the jap restaurant ones. must try must try. The ox tongue is very good, its very thick and its still very soft and very juicy and has absorbed the taste of the garlic on top when its been cooked, very very nice.

I went there for a late night dinner at around 2200 after shopping. It's located next to the ice rink, and we got in after the reception told us the last order was 2215 and it closed at 2300. We ordered a weever italian rice w/asparagus and a mustard beef pizza. The food are delicious with a reasonable price(even less than The Spaghetti house), especially the pizza was very crispy. The atmosphere are casual and cozy, may be because of the view to the ice rink. I believe it could be very crowdy between the usual dinner time. The service was nice and efficient though everybody seems very busy.
