    A Pity Cries May 30, 2012
Share with MessengerShare on TwitterShare on Facebook
Beancurd dessert has always been one of my most favorite dessert. It is always such a refreshing dessert. I was hanging around Kowloon City and felt like sitting down and have something refreshing, and so I came to this place which is renowned for its beancurd dessert.
Under such hot weather I ordered a cold one and I was glad that it arrived fairly fast.

I find the beancurd dessert itself has a pretty sweet syrup already and need not to add brown sugar to raise the sweetness. It has a pretty rich soy flavor, and together with the syrup it tasted absolutely refreshing. However, I find the beancurd dessert not smooth enough at all. It's not rough but it doesn't have the essential and crucial quality of beancurd desserts. It felt more like tofu soaked in syrup instead of beancurd dessert and it's an epic failure to me.
Without the smoothness, I am sorry to say that the beancurd dessert was not exactly acceptable to me. It didn't manage to give me the chilling sensation. Even though it has distinct soy flavor, I'd have to downgrade this place. I have to admit that it's a pity.

Tasty sweet tofu! Smile May 01, 2010

Went here for some sweet tofu pudding and cold sweet soya drink!

The tofu pudding was delicious and didn't taste too sweet.

The soya drink was really good and tasted better when it was cold.

My parents ordered some snacks, but I didn't try them out as they aren't my cup of tea.

Service overall here is not too bad, but the setting is old. Food here is still pretty cheap!

An afternoon treat Smile Apr 25, 2010

It has probably been about 2.5 years since I last visited, so this experience was a good reminder.

chopstickFried tofu with minced fish ($6/plate of 2)
As it had been made for some time it was only luke warm. This tofu was very good, had a very good fresh taste, and the fish on top was not bad. With the chili sauce it was even better.

chopstickFried fish balls ($6/plate of 4)
The texture gave away that most of it comprised of corn starch rather than real fish flesh. It was not bouncy at all and just starchy, and a good amount of MSG was present because I felt it after even one of these.... sad To add, these fried snacks were pure grease...

    chopstickHot Tofu-fa ($8)
When I used to come here it was $6 per bowl....I guess adding $1 per year is not that surprising given the high value of land in HK. The tofu fa was not crazy shiny like its competitor, but had a much better texture (firmer but smooth) and a present soy bean taste. Unfortunately I can't say this is the best tofu-fa i've had in HK...
Anyway, I noticed on the menu they had made available many other options, such as the common black sesame paste w/ tofu fa, but even a puree of wolf-berry (small red fruit) with tofu-fa! tongue Someone was eating it next to us....and it looked like....Chili paste... I'm still debating whether i should try this next time!

Went here today after a traditional family event.

My mother ordered pan-fried fishballs~ she said they were really good, but I thought they were a bit too soft and soggy. Anyway, they were cheap though, just cost around $6.

Then we ordered the cold soya bean drink! It was so yummy! Slightly sweet, but still good! Cost $9!

Also, I ordered the cold sweet bean curd($12)! It was so soft! The bean curd was very fresh and the sweetness was just right!

My mom ordered the 煎釀tofu ($3)~~ it was alright though, not my cup of tea~

anyway, it was pretty cheap and good for value!

I lived in kln city when I was in kindergarten till P1. And this soya bean product shop remains the same since I remember, so as 'Ho Wah Bakery', my everyday bread.

Here I was again, but I was too full so I just had hot soya bean drink. The texture is silky deriving from the grinding and not sweet. My dear had soya bean dessert, the texture is still smooth, just that it is a bit too sweet than the previous time. Usually the cold dessert is bit more tough ... but it is not in Kung Wo. The cold one is still nice. lol
